***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I can’t see at all but am eager to learn!!
Sabrina L says
Sew Me! I’m also a self proclaimed 3. I can make curtains and pillows but haven’t attempted anything else yet! One day….
Abby says
SEW ME! I’m not a very good sewer…I can reattach buttons and mend seams, but that’s about it. I, like Sherry, am a fan of the no-sew iron-on hem tape.
Madison says
SEW ME!!
I am probably about a 3.5
Anne says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 3. I can follow a pattern but my lines aren’t always the straightest. I’d love more practice though!
Shannon says
Sew Me! I’m about an 8, I’ve made some dresses for my girls, quilts for people and a couple dolls but I am no where near perfect at it.
Diane says
SEW ME!
I can make curtain, and once in home ec, I made a stuffed rabbit, but my skills sure could use more practice!
Jenn Pruden says
SEW ME! I probably rate myself at a 5, half good. Was hoping for a sewing machine from Santa so crossing fingers and toes for this one :)
Heather says
SEW ME! I couldn’t even sew the elastic band for my daughter’s first birthday tutu. :)
Monica says
SEW ME! Definitely a 2 or 3!! I love straight lines!
Megan says
SEW ME! I would say that I am a 4-5.
Kathleen says
SEW ME!!!
I am sew-sew with those machines (hah!) but would love to be better. My friend made her own wedding dress and I’d love to do something like that.
Molly says
SEW ME! PLEASE! I am asking santa for a sewing machine for Christmas and I want to learn and get all crafty in our house! Make pillow cases, curtains all sorts of things!
Valerie says
SEW ME! i’m probably about a 2!
erica barraca says
SEW ME!
im probably about a 3-4. ive been sewing for about a year, and am loving it.
Kay says
SEW ME!!!
My mom taught me the basics of sewing when I was about 10 or 11. After my kids got to the ‘I can take care of myself’ stage (around 18), I took up quilting. I’m not an expert like some of the ladies in my group, but I have made a few quilts for people.
Laura says
SEW ME! About a 3. I can sew a simple Halloween costume, but it may not look too pretty.
MissCaron says
SEW ME! I have zero skills and I’ve been wanting to learn for quite a long time!
Tess says
SEW ME!
I’m afraid that I’ve regressed from a 4 to a 1 – despite my mom’s best efforts to keep me at at least a 3. This would definately help, though, seeing as any sewing I do now is done the old fashioned way: with a needle and thread.
Johanna says
SEW ME!!! I would say a 3…can sew a straight line anyway
Caroline says
SEW ME! I would say I am around a 3. I learned in a class in high school and my grandma and mom have taught me a little but I am still a beginner.
Kristen Arias says
SEW ME! Definitely a 1 – no sew projects are more my thing, but i’d love to learn!
JEN C says
SEW ME! I’m a 2.
Bethany says
Sew me!
Excited newbie!
Tiffini S. says
SEW ME! Definite 1-er here. I once tried to hem my husbands pants and everyone thought he was wearing an ankle brace on one leg. Ergh.
Katy says
SEW ME!
1!! :/
Debra says
SEW ME!!!
I think I could sew if I knew how to thread my machine (no instruction booklet)
Krysta says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. But my mom is awesome. Maybe I could inherit her skills if I had this machine.
katrina politte says
SEW ME! sew me sew me sew me!
i guess i’m about a 3ish. i can make things up as i go but give me pattern i’m completely lost.
Laura King says
SEW ME!!
Well, I could at one time classify myself as a 5ish. But one day my dad borrowed my sewing machine and broke the thing, so it has been a couple of years since I have been able to sew anything other than by hand, so I might be some brush up on my skills!
Becky says
SEW ME!
I would give myself a 4 – the part that gets me is the whole concept of sewing in a straight line…which can be problematic.
Ashley L. says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 3. I know basic construction and I’ve chopped up some of my dad’s shirts and made into dresses. None of them have fallen apart yet.
Maybe because I haven’t worn them yet because I’m scared that they WILL fall apart…
Maria says
SEW ME! Oh man, I’ve been wanting my own sewing machine for ages! At this point I am probably back down to like a 3…but at one point I was closer to a 6! I made my own senior prom dress, even, which was an 1800s English noblewoman’s ball gown!
Jen says
SEW ME! I’d probably rank about a 4.75 on a good day. Still have the very first thing I sewed and absolutely remember sitting with my mom, learning how to operate the machine (a very old singer!). PS my mom would rank about 11.5 on a 1-10!
kara k. says
sew me! i’m probably a 4 or 5…i can make pretty decent things but for some reason i still have the hardest time with the bobbin!
Courtney says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1 … Unless 0 is an option. If 0 is an option then I’m totally it!
My mom is a 10 and has been wanting me to learn forever – with this machine maybe it will finally happen! :)
Heather says
SEW ME!
I want to learn! My sewing is limited to mending buttons at this point.
Elizabeth C says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a solid 7, but my $100 sewing machine sets me back…so maybe with a machine like this I’d be an 8! :)
AnnMarie says
Sew Me! …I’m prob a 3 like Sherry! I made a pretty sweet pillow in home ec class back in the day! Hmm, I wonder if they still have that in school…
David says
“SEW ME!” I’d say I’m a 10! ….my sewing is about a 8… I’ve been sewing for a while as my MOM tough me from a young age in case my wife had no sewing skills……I hate when she is right….
Alison says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. I could sew my way out of a bag, but it would be touch and go for a while. Luckily I’m signed up to take lessons so a new machine would be AWESOME!
Karen says
Sew Me!
Definitely a 1. Definitely. But I want to learn!!
Maggie says
SEW ME!!
Id say I am about a 3. I have done a few simple projects. I would like to be more around a 7.
Ann Marion says
SEW ME!
I’m probably around a 3-4 these days. My mother taught me when I was 6 years old because her eyes were too bad to thread the needle. I haven’t done much in the last few years but I’d like to learn how to make some simple things for my new house.
Rachel says
Sew me! I’d say I am a 3. If its a rectangle, I’ve got it down, and even managed a quasi-sewn couch cover, but I don’t know how to make clothes or anything like that, yet. Looking forward to it!
Oksana says
SEW ME!
I haven’t touched a sewing machine in years & back when I did, my skill level was at a 1. I’ve been wanting to learn more & this would be the perfect opportunity!
Beth Anne says
Sew Me!
I’m a 4!
Kelli says
SEW ME!
A “1” or less! A total beginner!
Angela says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1. BUT I am hoping to learn in the new year. You guys inspired me to take monthly fabric backdrop pics of my babe (new mom haze prevented me from committing to weekly!), and that fabric ain’t going to quilt itself.
natalie says
SEW ME! I might be a 3.5. I have a beginner quilt pattern I am dying to try and this might very well be the machine to help me tackle it!
Happy holidays everyone.
