***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Inês says
SEW ME!!!
Oh men, I’m a 1, but definetly try to get better.
Sophie Crouchman says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 1 but aspire to be a 10, like my mum who not only sewed her own (beautiful) wedding dress but also her two bridesmaids’ dresses, and has never bought a pair of ready made curtains in her life! Wonder mum!
Kacey says
SEW ME!
I’d rate myself a 5 maybe 6, I’m good with mostly squares… nothing too fancy.
Corey Harris says
SEW ME!!!
Definitely a 1….I’ve made things in the past with supervision from my grandmother, but have completely lost all of those skills!
Holly Marie says
Sew Me! I’d go with a 5 for me- I have loved borrowing friend’s machines over the years to make bags, slip covers, and ever this year- our halloween costumes. =) I WOULD LUUUUUUUUV to have my own~
Elizabeth says
Sew me! I am maybe a 3 or 4…I had sewing lessons when I was younger, but it’s been a long time. This would sure come in handy! Thanks so much for a great giveaway!
Kevin says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1, but my wife is maybe a 4. Seeing as I just broke her machine trying to do something I shouldn’t have, this would be great!
Beth says
SEW ME!
I think I’m a 2 or a 3. But I really want to get better at it.
Amanda says
SEW ME!
I’d have to be a 1. I have so many (SO MANY) projects that I want to eventually do that involve sewing but I’m a too intimidated to start figuring it all out!
Shannon says
SEW ME!
I’d say I am also around a 3 – I have never owned my own sewing machine, but I bet I could sew things with straight lines, like cushion covers and curtains.
I am also SO HAPPY that this giveaway is open to Canadians! woot woot!
Stefani says
SEW ME! I am alright, I really wish that I was better!! I would give me a 3 too. I can sew, just not great! :)
Lacy says
SEW ME!
2 on a machine, 5 if by hand.
Dani says
Sew me! I haven’t touched a sewing machine since 8th grade home ec… But I only got a B and haven’t used one since.
Inês says
SEW ME!!
I’m probably a 1, but that’s OK. I’ll get better with one of that…..
Jennifer S says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 but once I get a seeing machine I hope to improve that!
Lisa says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 6 – I won the home economics prize in high school much to my embarassment but I am no expert. Mine is old and pretty basic – definitely could use a new one!
Tera Snavley says
Sew Me!!
I’m a 4, I can sew things but they never seem to turn out exactly how I want them. =)
Leah says
SEW ME! I’m probably a solid 2 – I took Home Ec in middle school and made a sweet blanket, but haven’t sewed since. Both my Mom and my MIL are skilled, so I’ve got my training covered.
Amanda says
Sew me!! I’m about a 2. I’ve sewed one project that was supposed to take 30 minutes, but ended up taking 3+hours… :/
Sophie says
SEW ME!!
I might be a 3 or 4 … not too good but I definitely want to improve! I once sewed myself some pyjama pants (from a pattern, 2 years ago) but haven’t done much sewing other than that. This machine looks perfect to get me sewing again!
Kristy B says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 1 (or a -2 if that’s an option?), but would love to learn!!
Erin says
SEW ME!
3 aspiring to be more..
Amanda says
Sew Me!
Ah! I need to learn to sew. I have an old beat up machine that I’m terrified to even start figuring out how to use. This would be amazing!
Laura says
Sew me! I’m about a 1.5.
Sarah R. says
Sew me!!
I’d say I’m probably a 5. My mom’s an excellent seamstress and as much as I tried to ignore her teachings, some of it did stick!
Ilse den Besten says
SEW ME!
I think my skills would be around 6 since I can meka dress from scratch even tough it would take me some time to do so.
But I would be better if I could practice more often since my own machine is always getting stuck and i have to save all the sewing jobs untill I visit my granma again.
Sure she would appriciate if I stopped by for JUST COFFEE sometimes ±’
Sarah says
Sew me! I am probably around a 6-7 on the sewing skills scale. I want to be closer to a 9, but that is going to have to wait until I have time to do nice finishing…i.e., when both of my kids are at least 4.
David Sweeney says
Sew Me! I’m a 1, but my wife is more like a 5.
Kate says
Sew me!
Do you have negative numbers?? Let me just say this, the last time I sewed the next day I gave my husband an “I’m sorry I got so mad” gift. The main problem was a yard sale sewing machine that didn’t work correctly (has since been curbed) so this machine would be delightful! Assuming it comes with an instruction booklet… :)
PK says
SEW ME!
I think I’m one notch above Sherry, at a 4.
Nicole says
SEW ME! I’m a novice who has enough skills to impress her friends with threading a needle (ooooh), winding bobbin thread (ahhh), and sewing a semi-straight line (eh?).
Lauren M says
Sew me!
I’d say I’m a 3.5- I managed to make a skirt that was good enough to wear out of the house, but when it comes to using the right needles or anything more complicated than sewing along a line of pins I’m hopeless!
Tamsen says
SEW ME!! I’d rate myself a 5, i know how to do it but am definitely not an expert!
KaeleyAnne says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 5 on the sewing spectrum – I can sew straight lines without any problems and I’m good at following directions, but I need more sewing experience.
Wanda says
Sew Me!
I can so minor things. A three probably. My machine is just so clunky and difficult to use I don’t do it often.
cristina says
SEW ME
I have never used a sewing machine but would love to learn.
Shyla says
SEW ME!! Im def a 1 !!!
Mary Turner says
SEW ME! I am probably a seven for home decorating. We made pillows for our kitchen banquet with my nine year old daughter and her friend. I would like to take an upholstery class and then there would be no piece of furniture that I can’t paint or reupholster. Thanks for your blog!
Jen R. says
Sew me! Probably a 3
Jenny A. says
Sew me! I’m probably a 4 if I’m trying really, really hard.
Katie says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2. I made some pillows once but the stitches were not that straight!
Kristi says
SEW me! A 2. Or maybe 3. I do OK once I finally get the thing threaded properly. I actually made myself a video last time b/c I kept forgetting how.
JMay says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5. I can make clothes following a pattern. I just finished a Bina (that have been in heavy rotation on Pinterest). It was easy peasy and I love how it fits.
Catlin Gedge says
SEW ME!!
I absolutely love sewing, and do it whenever I can. I’ve made almost half of my wardrobe, I think. I use my great-grandmother’s old machine that does nothing more than a straight stitch and zig-zag stitch. But I’d love a new machine with some more bells & whistles!!!
tara e says
SEW MEEEEE!!!!
Sadly, I’m going to go with a 1.75… I had Consumer Science in junior high and managed to sew myself a foot-shaped pillow, a very wonky pair of shorts, and wonky draw string bag. I have visions of making my baby girl a quilt before she’s born in February!
