Thanks to random.org, these three ladies are getting a kick start to Mother’s Day: Traci (who inherited her mother’s worrying skills!), April (who got her mom’s love of shopping, travel and new things) and Stacy (who inherited the gift of being a good cook from her mom).
Because becoming a mom has mysteriously given Sherry the urge to learn how to sew (more on that here and here) we thought we’d use this pre-Mother’s Day giveaway to dish out TWO fabric-tastic prizes to THREE lucky winners. And they won’t have to sew a stitch because it has already been done for ’em. The first comes from City Chic Country Mouse, whose Etsy shop caters to those who want to inject a bit of chic to their chore list (not that any moms should be doing housework on Mother’s Day). Each of our three winners can choose from any of their colorful, graphic, and punchy ironing board covers, which will definitely cheer up any laundry room:
Plus those same three lucky winners get a double dose this week. A customized fabric wreath from a local Richmonder who puts her sewing prowess to work in her Etsy shop, Love Elaine is also on the agenda. While she’s got cool modern spins on aprons, quilts, and bags – her fabric wreaths are always a favorite. And yup, each winner gets to pick our their own colors.
- PRIZE: Any ironing board cover from City Chic Country Mouse and a custom fabric wreath from Love Elaine
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us one quality you’re glad you inherited – or wish you had inherited – from your mother (or other parental type figure). Are you grateful she instilled strong family values? Or that she passed down her sense of style / fabulous cooking abilities? Or do you keep waiting for her sewing skills to kick in like Sherry?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States and Canada
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from City Chic Country Mouse and Love Elaine.

SEW ME a delighful ironing board cover! Love them (and I need a new one!)
I wish I got the sewing gene from my Aunt Frances. She sewed everything. I on the other hand freeze (and panic and sweat) when sitting down at a sewing machine. I swear bobbins are out to get me… they jam and make sewing far from a relaxing experience.
PS – My first time commenting (just ran across your blog about 2 weeks ago) – LOVE IT.

All my craftiness is from my mother. Though I don’t have her need for perfection. So they come out not so perfect, but get done alot faster.

SEW ME! There is a lot I’m glad I did NOT inherit from my mother but one thing for sure I am appreciative of is a strong empathy for others. Giving others the benefit of the doubt, always because you never know when it’s actually warranted. Some good may actually come of it! Thanks, Mom!

My mother is an incredible, professional seamstress–I wish I had inherited that from her! I barely passed home ec in middle school and still shudder every time I walk by her sewing room in their house. She’s so talented and I am so grateful I’ve never had to pay for a tailor!

Sew me . . .I wish I was half as stylish as my Mother. She always looks so chic and elegant. I did, however, definitely inherit her love of food and cooking, one of the best parts of my life, Thanks Mom!

I wish I had inherited my mom’s sewing ability. She always said she couldn’t teach me because I’m left handed. Maybe she was just tired out since I was the youngest of nine kids.

Sew me!
My mom was a fabulous seamstress. She used to make her own clothes and made many outfits and costumes for me when I was little. I now have her old 70s sewing machine that works awesome and I’m not as good as she was, but I’m working on it and getting better. I sew pillow covers often! I think getting to know the machine is the key to sewing well!
Cara says
SEW ME! I inherited my artistic ability from my dad’s side.
Lori Beth says
Sew Me! My mother is amazingly gracious in nearly all situations. She has a true caring nature about her that I really envy. She is so good about remembering what is going on in other people’s lives and asking about them. I am working at emulating her (at least that quality), I am getting really good at gracious thank you notes (lots of baby gift will do that to you) and I love the reaction that I get when I remember something about someone.
Beth says

I’d like to think I have inherited my mom’s sense of style. She was always on the cutting edge of home decor when I was growing up!

My mom is fantastically petite, and I love that I got her genes :)
She’s also such a positive person and always finds a way to keep a smile on her face. That’s something I’m working hard to take after her on!

Jessica says
SEW ME! I’m glad to have inherited my mom’s sewing abilities…took me long enough to realize it, but now I love sewing!

Sew me! My mom can sew and used to make her own clothes in highschool. I also remember her making curtains and haloween outfits. My dad is an amazing cook. My younger brother can cook and has figured out how to alter his own pants using a sewing machine. And me??? I can microwave and heat-bond-tape-and even that’s touch and go sometimes..:-/
