Thanks to random.org, these three ladies are getting a kick start to Mother’s Day: Traci (who inherited her mother’s worrying skills!), April (who got her mom’s love of shopping, travel and new things) and Stacy (who inherited the gift of being a good cook from her mom).
Because becoming a mom has mysteriously given Sherry the urge to learn how to sew (more on that here and here) we thought we’d use this pre-Mother’s Day giveaway to dish out TWO fabric-tastic prizes to THREE lucky winners. And they won’t have to sew a stitch because it has already been done for ’em. The first comes from City Chic Country Mouse, whose Etsy shop caters to those who want to inject a bit of chic to their chore list (not that any moms should be doing housework on Mother’s Day). Each of our three winners can choose from any of their colorful, graphic, and punchy ironing board covers, which will definitely cheer up any laundry room:
Plus those same three lucky winners get a double dose this week. A customized fabric wreath from a local Richmonder who puts her sewing prowess to work in her Etsy shop, Love Elaine is also on the agenda. While she’s got cool modern spins on aprons, quilts, and bags – her fabric wreaths are always a favorite. And yup, each winner gets to pick our their own colors.
- PRIZE: Any ironing board cover from City Chic Country Mouse and a custom fabric wreath from Love Elaine
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us one quality you’re glad you inherited – or wish you had inherited – from your mother (or other parental type figure). Are you grateful she instilled strong family values? Or that she passed down her sense of style / fabulous cooking abilities? Or do you keep waiting for her sewing skills to kick in like Sherry?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States and Canada
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from City Chic Country Mouse and Love Elaine.

SEW ME! I’m glad my mom passed on her priorities of God and family to me. Sometimes it is hard to keep things in perspective in my crazy busy life, but all it takes is a phone call to mom and she helps me sort it out.

I’m glad I inhereted my mom’s stubborness and work ethic! They can each have their downside, but they work together quite well most of the time and have made me a very driven and hard working person who never ‘settles’.

I would heart to win this, we are going to be updating our laundry room and I am looking for some pattern to start off the whole project!
I totally inherited my dad’s passion for homes and math. He was an architect and math was my best subject and I am just a tad obsessed with my home. It’s a great quality to have inherited!

SEW ME!! I am so grateful for inheriting my mother’s creative gene. She is such a skilled florist, painter, decorator and almost all things crafty, and while I’m nowhere near her level, I can see some of her craftiness in the things I do. Thanks mom!!

SEW ME!
Both my mom and I wish I’d inherited her sewing skills. Instead, she’s stuck helping me with projects far too complicated for me alone. If only she’d inherited her mother’s patience, she could teach me how to sew myself ;-)

SEW ME!!! I inherited my mom’s hands (which were her mom’s hands!), and strange need for a cold glass of milk and peanut butter late, late at night. I wish I had also inherited my grandmother’s beautiful handwriting. Maybe I will re-teach myself while I teach my toddlers how to write. Maybe.

It’s not inherited per say, but I’m glad my mom taught us such love and created such a strong family unit with her and my sisters. We are family and friends and no matter how much we fight sometimes, we always love and help and support each other no matter what.
And on this subject, just took my first sewing class last night and it was great! I sewed a pillow and the teacher told us about all her favorite sewing tools and tricks! Still gonna have to practice the threading thing and turns out my mom has a very complicated machine to thread.

I inherited my Mom’s clean-gene. Though not nearly as orderly as my mom who worked until she was 79 as a CPA (I’m not a numbers girl; I’m an arts girl), I like a tidy house; I like to iron like my mom; I like my linen closet organized. But I love a whole lotta randomness thrown in as life just doesn’t often follow Plan A.

SEW ME SEW ME SEW ME!!!! I absolutely could NOT be more IN LOVE with these crafts! I am ALWAYS searching for a great way to jazz up our mundane objects. (i.e. ironing boards) I love the damask that is yellow and grey and the super cute yellow one with the birds. ;) OUR front door is also in constant search for a new wreath for each season…this would be GREAT for our collection!

i inherited a gift from both my parents. it is to love what you are doing and put your heart into it completely. it’s the reason our family business functions so well. my mom is also especially good at creating something wonderful out of nothing, be it dinner or a home decor piece or a way to make something function better. i find myself getting better at that every day. sometimes after many phone calls to her. :)

I’m so thankful that my mother passed down her sense of style, but more thankful that she instilled in me Christian values. They will take me much farther in life than my style;)

I’m grateful that I inherited my mom’s cooking and organization skills. We both love to cook and organize stuff! But she also taught me how to be always grateful for what we have in our lives..to work hard, but also learn how to share by giving to charity and helping out the needy. My mom is that type of person who loves to help out ppl. If you or anyone you know needed extra cash…she’ll help you look for work or even find something for you do to so you can get that extra income. =)

The two things I’m so glad my mom passed on to me are her compassion for others and her ability to be downright goofy and giggly (often to the great embarrassment of her children).

I’m glad I inherited my mother’s sense of cleanliness. I know I tend to be rather untidy at times (who isn’t?) but I also don’t live like a slob (and my natural laziness might have led me in that direction if it weren’t for her).

I think I’ve done pretty good so far of picking up on the sewing from my mom! But it’s the cooking part that I really wish I had done a better job or learning/inheriting!! My mom is a great cook, always makes delicious food. Somehow I got the love to eat gene, but missed the love to cook gene :( Gotta work on that!!
