Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

BONUS QUESTION: Last weekend I told my son that we were going to a friend’s birthday party at Kiddie Park, which is an amusement park with little ride for yound children. He asked me if Hank and Buster (our cats) could come. I couldn’t quit figure out why he wanted them to come with us, until he asked me if other cats would be at the “Kitty Park” too! We had a really good laugh about that one!!

SHARE ME! I wish I could echo the sweet sentiments of those who kindly shared a room with their siblings growing up. :) I shared a room w/ my sis until I was 13 and she was 8… at one point I really did show her the imaginary line across the floor! Lets just say our organizational styles were different. Ha haa… we got over it though, and are extremely close today. Yay for sisters!

My sister, who is 9 years older than me, used to have to share a full bed. I remember kicking each other as hard as we possibly could at night when the other crossed the imaginary line dividing the sides. Aaahhh, sisterly love!

Share me! My husband and I currently share a bathroom in our small ranch house and it’s a usual morning battle to see who gets in the bathroom first.

Share Me! I am the youngest of 7 kids, which meant sharing a room was inevitable. I shared a room with 3 sisters most of my childhood. It wasn’t until I was 17 did I finally get a room of my own. Sharing a room meant having someone to talk to late at night.

Learning to share my bed with my boyfriend has been amusing. Before him, I spent my nights in the middle of my bed wrapped in a cocoon of sheets. Luckily, he’s understanding and worth compromising my ideal sleeping situation.

I am originally from the Midwest and when I moved to North Carolina several years ago, where my husband is from, I had a hard time deciphering the accent. As a teacher it can prove very frustrating sometimes! The other day my students were talking about one of their favorite movies. I had to ask them the title four times. They kept repeating: The blaaaaaaah siiiiid. I finally figured out they were saying The Blind Side! They were laughing at me so hard! A few other colloquialisms: “Cut the light off” and “Smells like a Pole Cat”. Why would you want to cut the light? And what the heck is a Pole Cat? Oh, well, at least I keep myself laughing!
Sarah says
By the way…this is the funny way the South has shared with me!
Sarah Too says
A Pole Cat is a Skunk of course and you are cutting electricity to the light from the light switch…hence cut off the light (kind of like you would cut people off from the bar :) )

Share me! My husband says I’m terrible at sharing. He grew up with 5 brothers and sisters and had to share everything. I was basically an only child, so I never had to share. I really don’t think I’m that bad, but I’ve been trying to improve… it can only be a good thing, right? :)

In college at PSU my best friend and I shared an apartment. We always joked about what good sharers we were…food, clothes, studying, etc. She was the most giving person I have ever known. Love and miss you ERG

SHARE ME — This might be gross, but my sister and i are three years apart. When we were teenagers, we pooled our money to purchase a Benetton sweater. It was green with argyle on the front and made of wool. We shared the sweater and were always very careful to keep it clean because we were afraid to wash it and ruin it. I don’t think it was ever washed during the years we shared it. I suppose if you couldn’t do something like that with your sister, who could you do it with? We’re now in our mid-late 30s and she’s still my best friend!

I had to share a hotel room with my mom and stepdad in Chicago… worst idea ever. My stepdad snores soo loud he could wake China. Needless to say, I attempted to sleep in the bathroom tub to block the sound. (and, i didn’t fit too well either!)

I’ve got a hilarious story. It doesn’t involve me but it’s too funny not to share. It involves my aunt and her 2 year old granddaughter. For reference, her grandkids call my aunt “Nana.”
One day my aunt was watching her 3 grandkids. One of them kiddos (the 2 year old) was been suspiciously quiet. So my aunt goes to check on her. She was in the bathroom scrubbing the toliet with my aunt’s toothbrush! My aunt asks her what she’s doing and she replies, “I ceaning Nana….I ceaning!”
Too funny! But…makes you wonder how many times before she was cleaning before being caught in the act! Eww!

Making decisions as a couple is sometimes hard, “I like that orange chair”…”What, that is aweful.” I have learned it is important to share your opinion and then share in the decision making for the little things(even though that chair was soo cute!) and the big things in life.

SHARE ME! This prize would be AMAZING!! I’m re-doing my house, room by room, the kitchen was finally finished for Thanksgiving last year. (Well the paint was ALMOST dry.. LOL) Anyway, I invited my entire family over. Ya know.. 1st Thanksgiving at my house. I got up at 5am to put the turkey in the oven. I was giving him his bath and realized he was missing legs and wings. I thought, hmmmm… what happened to this poor little guy!?!?! I continued to ‘dress’ him, then glanced at the label. I bought a breast instead of a full turkey!!!! I blamed all the paint fumes for killing a few brain cells that week. So sadly, I didn’t have a ‘full’ turkey for the presentation, but it tasted great. I now have 8ish months till everyone is back!! Hoping to finished a room or two more!!

My 19-month-old son is starting to want to share his food with me, especially stuff he doesn’t like. So, he’ll hold out this spitty, squashed handful of food, sweetly cooing and coaxing me to take a bite…how can I say no? I’m becoming an expert at faking a nibble. But the last thing I want is to discourage this, especially since his little brother is due in a couple of weeks!

SHARE ME! I love that even though you have two bathrooms on your traditional “kids’ wing,” you have it set up for a future kiddo to share the hall bathroom with Clara. I have three older brothers, and I think sharing has made us better people somehow. We understand sharing, we understand people have weird habits/ticks that you have to work around (the oldest has a pretty serious “thing” about leaving the sink on when you’re spitting out toothpaste into the sink – the sound grosses him out and ruins his day – it’s weird, but now when someone demands to do something a certain way, I just go with it), and we all know the importance of a quick shower! I’m probably only thinking about this because my husband is an only-child and hogging the bathroom on this Tuesday morning.

SHARE ME! I love sharing a good book with friends and family. But nothing compares to swapping books with my fiance. We have different tastes in books, which has allowed us to expand our knowledge/empathy/understanding and to get a peak into what makes us tick – from a fictional story of a Pastor writing a “goodbye” letter to his son (Gilead) to the story of a the first swimmer to cross the Strait of Magellan (Swimming to Antarctica) or even a wonderfully neurotic/goofy man-book (This is Where I Leave You). If nothing else it makes for lively dinner conversation :)

share me! I am continuously reminded by my older brother that when I was a kid I REFUSED to share “my car window” with him whenever we’d go on trips with our parents. He wasn’t allowed to look out it, and whatever I saw was “mine.” Luckily, I’ve overcome this. haha!

“SHARE ME”!! I have a “sharing” story, but it was not willingly. :) My freshman year in college, I was at the beach on spring break with a group of friends. The last night, I ended up getting really sick (later found out it was mono) and had to go to the ER. I was expecting to take my car to the ER, since we had taken my car, only to find out that my car was missing. Turns out, one of my friends “shared” my car to go party without asking me! My other friend’s mom had to take me to the ER!!

SHARE ME…I have been married for a little over 3 years. My husband likes to send fun, flirty messages. On Sunday, my BF was looking something up on my phone when a flirty text came through from my husband. My BF read two words, screamed, and threw my phone to me. I guess she likes to share a lot with me, just not that much :).

My older sister and I shared our room growing up and had bunk beds. Because she was the older sister she got the top bunk and I desperately wanted it. I had no trouble getting up but the getting down was way too scary for me, hence why I was on the bottom.
So this one time I am up there seeing how the world looks from up so high (um I think it was like 4 feet maybe) and I am too afraid to jump down. So she devised the plan that I would squeeze between the bed and wall and land on my lower bunk. Yeah, I got stuck. My younger sister is on my bed pulling at my legs while the older one pushes my head trying to make it fit. Of course my parents heard us and came to see what was up. My Dad took one look, moved the bed away from the wall and I fell onto the bed. That was the last time my sister ever shared her bed with me!
