Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Share me! My sisters and I shared a closet when we were in Jr. High/High School, we also shared clothes. It was kinda crazy at times, that’s for sure!

My freshman year of college I shared a room with a girl who was quite nice, but her two adult sisters who came to help her move in were a bit overprotective. The afternoon that we moved in, they cornered me (when my roommate wasn’t in the room) and yelled at me (and I’ll admit it, made me cry) that I was selfish and a horrible person because I had taken the desk by the window because my roommate said she didn’t care and planned to mostly study at the library and because I had brought more fruniture for the dorm room than their sister so I was taking up all the room (I lived 20 minutes away and she was from across the country, so we had agreed I’d bring stuff we could share). This was while my parents had left to take my mom to the emergency room for an injury that happened while we were moving. My roommate and I got along fine for the rest of the school year, but what an interesting welcome to college!

The first time I went to meet my boyfriend’s family I had to share a bed with his mom. We met them at a hotel because we were all going to participate in Race for the Cure. When she answered the door in her pjs, she said I was bunking with her. Welcome to the family! (It did not scare me off though because we have now been dating 2 years.)

SHARE ME!! My parents made my sister share a room with me although I had my own too ;)

SHARE ME! One of my favorite memories growing up was my sister and I sharing a room. Next door to our bedroom was our brothers’ room – they shared too! One day, my sister realized there was a completely empty and completely good guest room just across the hall. Without even asking, she moved in and she and I were left with our own rooms. The older of my brothers (the oldest in the fam) didn’t think it was fair since he was the oldest, but her argument was, “you have just as much time to come up with the idea yourself, if not more!” From that moment on, we had our own rooms and they still shared! :)

Share me! Years ago my boss and I were heading to a conference. I drove….she smokes, and no way was she smoking in our new car. Over the next four hours, needless to say we had to pull over, a lot. I’m not sure how long it took us to get there.

I’ll be sharing with you the story of when I was in college and was assigned the worst suitemate (two rooms sharing a bathroom and common area) ever! Let’s just jump over the introduction and get to the good stuff:
-She woud blast her music and sing at the top of her lungs…ALL. THE. TIME. I mean, I do this, too, when no one else is around. Studying. At 10 PM at night. At 6 AM in the morning.
-She never did her dishes = cockroaches.
-She would borrow things from me and then they’d come back broken!
-During a long weekend when the rest of the suite went home, she stayed and happened to overflow the toilet (with dookie!). She let it sit there, all over the floor. We came home and had to clean it up! To make matters worse, it had seeped into the walls, and came through our closets. My poor roommate had a long dress that soaked up the toilet water. The suitemate refused to pay for the drycleaning.
-She often worked out and threw her sweaty clothes in a pile on the floor. In fact, she would do this with all of her clothes and would pick out clothes from the same pile to wear ona daily basis. Imagine Pig Pen, from Charlie Brown.
I’m sure there are more stories about our suitemate, but I have chosen to forget.
I would definitely appreciate you sharing the Joss & Main credit so I can celebrate (by padding our nest) that the only person I have to share living quarters with now, is my husband! AMEN!

I was the youngest of three girls and would always have to sit in the middle in the car. Once, I got annoyed so I started biting my sisters. That’s when my eldest sister said that human bites are the worst kind of bites, and I never bit my sisters again!

When I shared a 3-bedroom apartment with 4 other people . . . let’s just say there was a lot of fighting over whose turn to do the dishes (no dishwasher), who left all their stuff in the living room, and who left that huge mess in the bathroom….

SHARE ME! Sharing a room with my sisters growing up – what a mess. No way around it with 3 sisters, and now we love to share rooms when we are all home.

SHARE ME!! I have four sisters (age range between youngest and oldest is 17 years). Needless to say everything was shared, including the hand-me-downs. Looking back through old photos I look like the little girl from Little House On The Prairie with all of the outfits from the eldest. Oh and can’t forget the DIY crooked bang haircut my mom would add in!

The first thing I thought of when asked about sharing was my college roommates. I had a few of them through the years and loved them all. My sister is so much younger than me that I don’t think I really ever learned about sharing until I got to college and started having roommates. It was good and I think it taught me a lot.

A few years ago, a friend of mine was married in Vegas. To cut down on travel costs, my husband and I shared a hotel room with another couple who happened to be close friends of ours. Little did we know, they were both HORRIBLE snorers! We didn’t get a minute of sleep the whole time. No more sharing hotel rooms for us!

Must be baby on the brain (11wks to go!) but my brother and I essentially shared our baby clothes, or technically, hand-me-downs, so he as the little bro, was often found as a newborn in my pink sleepers, onesies, and blankets. What can I say? My dad, a teacher, had been temp. laid-off right when he was born. Bad timing but my mom made the best of it. He was a little pink chunk!

SHARE ME! When my brother and I were really young, my parents bought him a stuffed baby chick. Within days, I had claimed “Chicky” as my own, and never gave him back. I took that chicken with me EVERYWHERE! I guess I wasn’t very good at sharing as a kid…
I’m a much better sharer now, but my brother and parents still remind me of “Chicky” on a regular basis.

I had to teach my puppy how to share her water bowl. I also have 2 cats, and it seems that all the pets are deathly afraid of the large auto-waterer, so all three pets try to drink from this teeny tiny little metal bowl. Well, let’s just say, teaching the pup to share was an interesting experience that included a lot of “BE NICE!” and other such commands!

SHARE ME please – my mom was always paranoid that I’d resent my sister if I had to share too much so every holiday we got the same thing in a different color (her pink, me green). Problem was, we’d fight over who opened the present first b/c once the other one opened it, you knew what you were getting.

“SHARE ME” At a cookout at a friends house a few summers ago, my chocolate standard poodle looked so forlorn waiting for the hamburgers to cook that I gave him a corn cob to gnaw on to satiate his hunger. He was so excited about that unexpected treat that he took off running with it and made no less than 10 laps around the outside of the house with it. You couldn’t get near him he was so excited about his special snack. To this day I have never seen him so ecstatic about a food item. I guess I need to cook up some corn again this year.
