Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I’m pregnant with my 3rd and my 4 year old son named the baby “Tissueboxy.” He was coming up with ideas as we were snuggling in my bed and he was apparently checking out the bedside table inhabitants! Other suggestions: “Waterbottley,” “Lampy” and “Jack” – but I think we’re going to stick with “Tissueboxy.” :)

“SHARE ME” When my husband and I were first engaged, I planned a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. It was his first time canoeing in MN and he really had no clue about where we were going. The trip was planned to start after we went to a destination wedding in Northern MN–nearby the lake. Weddings are fun and…we ended up leaving late…and getting to the lake near sunset. There are only so many camp sites available and by the time we got there, there were NONE left. We were left with either sleeping on the rocky shore or…asking to share a campsite with strangers. Luckily, two nice men invited us to share their palatial size campsite for the evening. We pitched our tent and sat down by the fire with these new “friends”. They could have been murderers or crazy folks, but…they weren’t. They were kind, folksy Minnesota men who offered us cocoa and cooked us breakfast the next morning before we set off on our trip! Here’s to camping and sharing time together!

Share me! My then 5 year old boy tried to “share” a hint for my birthday present. He said “Mom, you’re going to love it! It starts with a F and you do it all the time!” hahaha, he meant “phone”, phonetically, but it turned out to be a flip cam. He still can’t keep a secret to save his life. :)

Growing up, I shared a small bathroom with my three older brothers. I had to take 3 minute showers or else they would pour cold water on me or flush the toilet while I was in there. Now I am all grown up, but I still take 3 minute showers, and people can’t believe how fast I get ready in the morning. I guess it is just habit now:) Oh yes, and I must have the water scorching hot because of the cold water mishaps they put on me!!

I never had to share growing up because I was an only child, but that changed when I went to college and had roommmates! Suddenly I was vying for bathroom time and space. It really helped me learn patience, but it also was really fun getting ready with the girls in the bathroom before mixers and other parties. I will always remember that—the most chaotic and fun filled 4 years with my best friends.

I’m the oldest of eight kids…6 girls and 2 boys. Growing up, we only had ONE tiny bathroom all to share! AHHHHHHHHHH

SHARE ME! Don’t listen to anyone who says people learn about sharing in kindergarten — I think for some it doesn’t happen until college! My sophomore year I shared a converted double with two other girls… a lesson in picking your battles!

Share me! My husband and I have known each other since we were in about the first grade. When we were eight years old, his dad went out of town and he had to stay with us for a few days. One evening, my dad took him to the local races. After they got home, he walked upstairs to get ready for bed. And as he passed my bedroom, he saw me sleeping with my bottom in the air and got a glimpse of my Strawberry Shortcake underwear. Since we had to share the bathroom, the next morning I had to wait until he was dressed and ready for church before I could have my turn in the restroom. Once he was finished, I walked in and he had left his white Fruit of the Looms on the toilet seat. I screamed and ran into my parents room. Remember, I was eight and had never seen “boy” underwear before… especially used ones. The best part of the story is that neither of us knew about the other’s “underwear” experience until we were in our twenties and dating. Hahaha!

3 yrs. ago I was at my sons’ elementary school talent show. Prior to the show, I received a bouquet of flowers from the PTA for helping with my younger son’s class act. When I sat down, a little girl behind me said something to her mom about how pretty my flowers were so I turned around and gave her one. 3 yrs. later we are close friends w/ that family and are blessed to have them in our lives!

I grew up with a younger brother. We moved often because our dad was an Air Force pilot. Occasionally we had to share a room while waiting for housing. My brother was a sleepwalker and also had a weird ‘thing’ of hoarding food in his bedroom. One morning I woke up with peanut butter, jelly and bread smeared all over me and my bed. Seems he had made sandwiches during the night and put them in bed with me. My tossing/turning while sleeping turned them into a sticky MESS!

Share me… I instantly thought about how I shared my space in college with my roommates. The best part about that is 2 of the 3 roommates I had throghout college are STILL 2 of my very best friends. I guess my mom taught me well! :)

I shared a bathroom on an Amtrak train trip with my younger sister, who would not let me close the door when I had to go to the bathroom. Keep in mind these bathrooms were out in a hallway available to just any old train passenger. Yeah. On top of that she kept making me laugh, and, you guessed it. I wet my pants. How old you ask? Oh, just 14. Oh like it’s never happened to you. Just me? (shame face). My husband still teases me about it.

Share me! I once threw up outside of a Perkins restaurant because I’d had surgery the day before, and that was the first meal I’d had in about 48 hours. I guess pancakes aren’t a great post-op choice!

When I was in 5th grade, my dance group was invited to Disney World to preform. My mom and two sisters decided to join the trip, so the 4 of us were sharing a room. At that age, I apparently kicked and hit anyone I shared a bed with, so my two older sisters quickly informed me I would be sleeping on the floor, which of course, at 10-years-old I was not happy about! I spent the entire week sleeping on the floor. That’s really a story about not sharing, but very much wanting to share. Oh, siblings…

I’d have to say my most memorable “sharing” experience was learning to share the shared floor bathroom my freshman year of college in the dorms. It was a BIG TIME change for me to get use to. But it oddly bonded all us girls that first year.

Growing up, me and my two sisters shared a bedroom. I call it a bedroom because it is the room where we had our beds, but really it was the attic. There were two windows in the room and one of them had an air conditioning unit in it. Although this room was a pain in the butt to get to, it was the best place in the house–at least to my sister and me. We redecorated often. We would draw up plans, and then move our beds all over the room. We once decided that we wanted to create “flowers in the attic.” We grabbed my dad’s fishing wire, tons of construction paper, and scissors. We created all kinds of flowers and then hung them from the ceiling. It was the most amazing time I have ever had with my sisters. We worked together to create a masterpiece…or so we thought. We left those flowers up there until the red flowers turned pink. I love the memories I have from that hot, dark, musty attic.

Recently while watching about 5 little girls we have an inevitable “She’s not sharing!” succession of fights with the silly putty one of the girls had brought… I had a sleeping baby in my arms so had to be strategic to get their attention and talk to them about the joys of sharing – and it worked! Baby stayed asleep and girls were happy and shared. Felt very accomplished that day :)

This one time, when I was younger I moved to a new neighborhood and didn’t know anyone. I was awkward and desperately needed friends. One day, a group of kids that played baseball invited me to their super secret baseball diamond. I slowly started to fit in – but one day I hit my dad’s Babe Ruth autographed baseball over the fence…and found myself in the biggest pickle in my entire life!

Share me! I did not like sharing clothes with my sister growing up, because they would disappear into her laundry bin of a room never to be seen again. Sharing with her as a ‘grown-up’ is much more fun.

SHARE ME! I shared a bathroom with my younger brother (5 years younger) and when I was still embarrassed about getting my period he found the box of tampons in the bathroom and looked at the pictures in the directions, at eight he didn’t understand and kept asking what was wrong with me. So embarrassing.

My job is in IT, so my department is comprised of all male employees, and then me. Needless to say after 5 years of working with these guys, they’ve gotten over their “we can’t talk in front of the girl” fears. As a matter of fact there is a high level of OVER share, from bathroom habits to the girl from last night. They’re geeks though so it tends to be hilarious as opposed to insulting!

One of my favorite memories growing up were the vacations I spent at my aunt’s house with my cousins. I would share a room/bed (depending) with my cousin of the same age. I can’t count the number of times we were yelled at to go to bed b/c we stayed up late talking… and then later yelled at for staying up so late reading our books! …loved that time so much, we ended up being roommates in college!
