Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! I’m sure every young child with a sibling has the same memory as this… I remember sharing my birthday with my older brother every year when we were little. If I got a load of toys on my birthday, Steven would also get a couple toys to open. Vice Versa, I got toys on his birthday, too! Can’t beat a double birthday. Best way to share… EVER!

I’ve never had to share a hotel room with my boss, but I did have to share a condo with him and another coworker, and we had to share a bathroom. SUPER AWKWARD.

SHARE ME!! I am about to begin sharing…we are moving in with my (very generous) parents since our house sold very quickly and we have not found one to buy yet! So, it will be share me all spring/summer long or until we find a place of our own!

In the last 6 months I’ve lost 85lbs and went to visit my mom last weekend, 6 hours away from where I currently live. She had split her work wardrobe in half and is “sharing” everything I wanted with me. This is great because I was literally alternating about 3 outfits each week to an office job! Moms are great at sharing :)

One of my most fond memories are of my best friend and I sharing a pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream with 2 pink spoons when we had some sort of “crisis” we needed to work through. Seriously, those memories are very dear to my heart.

I had an awkward sharing moment on a business trip when my (male) boss asked if I was ok with sharing a hotel room. When he saw the horrified look on my face, he clarified that I would be sharing with the other woman in the group.

Unfortunately, my sharing story is something I’m currently dealing with. I live in a home with my husband and two kids and we have ONE bathroom. 4 people sharing 1 bathroom is really not fun at all! Sorry for giving tmi, my son had to use a bottle last week because his sister was already in the bathroom.

Share me!! Our favorite family story is when my sister “shared” some of her first words with our grandmother. She was playing some pots and pans drums in the kitchen and was apparently not getting the sound she was going for. Out of toddler frustration she let a phrase fly in front of our grandma that is not shareable here. Needless to say my mom never used a single swear word in front of her girls again :)

Share me! My husband and I like to split a dessert, but I’m not as good at sharing as I should be (as in, I take more my than my half). So now I split it down the middle as soon as it arrives, so that I know where to stop.

SHARE ME! My sister and I loved to play with Barbies growing up, but would often fight over who got the better Barbies (especially the Kens, since one wore a wedding tux and the other swim trunks). So we developed a Barbie draft, as a way to fairly share the dolls. We would line them up across the room, and take turns picking teams. There was definitely a lot of negotiating involved!

SHARE ME! Our family of 5 had to share 1 bathroom for almost 2 years while living in a rental house while our house was being remodeled…not an ideal situation when you are a teenager & moody!!

I thought sharing a bathroom with my husband was going to be disgusting and riveting, to say the least. However, I was thrilled to find out he was cleaner than any of my female roommates in college! Share upgrade!

Share me. I can’t say I have any nice sharing stories about sharing a bathroom or anything with my sister growing up. We didn’t share too nicely.

Two summers ago my younger sister, our good friend and I were in Fort Lauderdale. We had stopped to sleep in a small motel and had to share a king-sized bed. Not only were the three of us sharing a bed, we all shared the bedbug bites that began to attack in the middle of the night!

I had started a new job and was booked in a hotel room with a co-worker. I didn’t realize that this was policy and probably wouldn’t have taken the job had I known. I mean, who wants to have a pajama party with someone that they work with? It is like a company pool party–UNCOMFORTABLE! I was lucky that my sister lived nearby and I went and stayed there in a nice, cozy room without a roommate. :-)

My just-turned-two year old thinks every woman he sees is a Mommy and every man a Daddy. Of course, every time we are in public, he starts accusing any male within a 50-ft radius of being “DAAAAADDDY!!!!”. People look at me like…doesn’t that child know who his father is? Bless his heart.
Looking forward to an expanded vocab this year…. =)

SHARE ME!!! Actually when my husband and I and our 4 children lived in our very first home, we all had to share 1 bathroom that was the size of a small closet with carpet on the floor. I had never been more excited when we moved out and left that bathroom behind!

Sharing food from home with my host family in Spain. I will never forget the day I finally cooked for my host mom. I was 18 years old and had more or less pretended not to know how to cook. She assumed I didn’t know how and I played along. I learned fabulous Spanish dishes in the mean time. I decided before I would go home to make a meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn pudding and salad. My host mom looked at me and said two things: “Why didn’t you tell me you could cook? I would have had you cooking more often?” To which i replied “I know!” And “Now I know why all you Americans are so fat! I can’t stop eating!”

SHARE ME! I had a roomate in college who had the bedtime habits of an 80 year old. If I was going to be out after 8:30 I had to leave all my shower stuff, clothes and books in the hallway so I wouldn’t disturb her. It was odd to say the least. :)
Thank you!

At one of my daughters first playdates in our new town she hadn’t really gotten the ask nicely yet. She was almost 3 years old and her friend a year older. Her friend had gotten an electric Barbie Jeep for Christmas and my Daughter was riding next to the girl and then they stopped and my daughter got out and walked over to the driver side, opened the drivers door and told her friend – get out! Her friend just looked at her all confused.
This Mommy realized we had some work to do at that point.

SHARE ME! My sister and I shared a room when we were little which usually was okay, we got along pretty well. However, occasionally we would have a big fight and decide that we needed to divide the room in half and we couldn’t go on the other persons side. The problem with that? Bunk beds. One of us would actually make the other sleep on the floor.
What can I say, we didn’t have the best logical skills.

I will share a happy sharing story: when I share food with my boyfriend, he ALWAYS lets me have the last piece of whatever we are eating. Well, I guess that isn’t really the kind of story you are looking for, but when it comes down to that last crab rangoon, it sure does make me happy that he is such a good sharer :)

While we were doing our kitchen renovation (and not living in our house) we had the sneaking suspiscion that our contractor was squatting in our house. Renovations were taking longer than we expected. One evening we came to our house and saw our master bedroom laid out as if someone had been sleeping there! There were sheets, pillows and monkey pillow pet. When we confronted our contractor and asked him if had been sleeping in our house, he denied it of course but when asked about the pillow pet he said, “The pillow pet?” He is mine!”

Share Me……sister and I “shared” these huge wardrobe closets that divided our room. Her’s faced her part of the room (the back, private part) and mine faced my (have to go through your room to get to hers) side. One day she and my best friend thought it would be funny to hide in mine………so as I’m quietly reading a book on my bed, the door to my wardrobe slowly starts to open, (me screaming in terror) and my friend jumps out. NOT FUNNY.

When my hubby and I went to Italy 2007 (last big trip since we had kids) I shared the men’s bathroom a lot. It was common and not weird at all (as long as there was a toilet seat or hole in the ground instead of just a urinal), especially in the touristy areas (ancient ruins) where the women’s line would be really long but there was no one in the men’s room. I don’t know if it’s all of Italy but certain cities’ restaurants had to make restrooms public whether or not you ate there so they were sharing too. And there were really just little ceramic holes in the floor in a couple cases. Honestly I think I prefer that to trying to stay off a dirty toilet.
Thank you for sharing!!! You guys are the best!

We have one child who is 7 and everyday is a lesson in sharing when you have an only child. :) We recently took a spring break trip to St. Louis and thought it would be fun for her to bring a friend. We had a lot of fun but there was some definite competition for the spotlight going on. Learning to share is an ongoing teaching opportunity for us and likely will be for years to come. :)

My whole life I had to share a bathroom with my brother, we both cleaned up after ourselves and it worked out fine. When I moved out I ended up sharing a bathroom with my female roommate. Holy cow was she messy, clothes on floor, junk all over the counter. I never thought that sharing a bathroom with a girl would be worse then sharing with my brother. Well she moved out and now It all to my self no more sharing, of the bathroom.

IWe just moved into our house and we could really use some cute new accessories from Joss & Main! Growing up I never liked to share, I only had one sibling-a brother 7 years younger than me. He didn’t want to share my barbie dolls anyways. If I won this credit I would share it with my famiy and we could all pick out something we liked :)

In 1983 a friend and I had to share a room with two guys in a youth hostel in Budapest. We were two Germans and those two guys were actually from East Germany (behind the iron curtain back in the days). At first it was really awkward, but we ended up having a great time and lots of fun with those two medical students for the few days we stayed in Budapest.
