Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Share Me! When my sister was little and told to “Share”, she would always respond with “we sharing”, even while pulling toys out of other little children’s hands… She still might need a lesson in sharing!

The 4 months before I got married I lived with my sister, her husband, and their 2 kids ages 1yr and 3yrs. The 3yr old boy discovered that I had a secret stash of candy in my room and on occasion when I would go into my room I would find candy wrappers in mysterious places or a piece of partially sucked on hard candy sitting in the wrapper that he decided he didn’t like after trying it. He thought he was sneaky!

I don’t share hotel pillows well, much to my husband’s chagrin. Two for my head, one for under my knees, and maybe if you’re lucky you’ll still have one left for you.

SHARE ME! I shared an awkward moment with everyone in line at a store one day…I was buying baby clothes for a friend’s baby-on-the-way, and my 4-year-old daughter asked, in that “kid voice” that silences everyone nearby, “But Mommy, how will the baby get OUT of Sara’s tummy?”

on my first medical mission trip to a small village in mexico, they put us up at the local jail. I had to share my jail cell “hotel room” with a MD (there were just 2 of us) we were strangers to each other (at least at the beginning of the week!!!)

When I was young my little sister decided that she wanted to “share” some of my toys. She informed me that I could either give her X toy or Y toy (don’t remember specifically what they were). Sad thing is, I totally fell for it!

My parents divorced when I was 3 so I have a half brother and sister who are 5 and 7 years younger than me. So weird being the oldest and only child with my mom. I remember a many vacations where I would get planted in the backseat between the two of them because they would fight the entire trip. Ugghhh! Just thinking about it gives me bad memories!

This will be gross but when I was little I (somehow) got a tick stuck in my ear and my dad stuck a match (after blowing it out so it was smokey but not burning…) into my ear to get the tick to let go. Needless to say, I was traumatized and now ticks are one of my mortal fears (along with leeches).

I think my most harrowing sharing story would be the night I was forced to share a compartment on a Soviet-era train heading from Athens, Greece to Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria with a Bulgarian girl in a leather jacket and a British couple that couldn’t keep their hands off each other while my fiancé (brand new fiancé actually, he had just proposed 2 nights before) was in a different compartment with a Bulgarian mother that kept trying to feed him homemade food all night. All in all, a pretty nerve-wracking but unique experience!

Back in my single days, people were always trying to set me up (which as we all know, doesn’t work at all about 99% of the time. Enough already, people). My sister had a friend with a brother only a few years older than me, and was determined that we should be together. She decided to ambush me at a family Halloween carnival in our small town. All of us were there early, and my sister apologetically informed me of the plan. Now, keep in mind that while the kids would dress up for this, no one else really did. Especially not the early morning crowd.
He showed up. 10 am. Full pirate costume, including eye liner, wig, chest tattoo, and his own personal scraggly chest hair peeking through.
Needless to say, there was no second date.
He is still only referred to as the pirate.

On my way to a wedding in Mexico I missed the shuttle pickup on the US side of the border and ended up in Tijuana trying to hail a taxi with my non-existant Spanish. This was during a time when the were advising US citizens NOT to go to Tijuana, but it all worked out in the end.

So I recently bought an exercise ball for my desk. Little did I know that sitting too long on it would make my butt sweat. I wore light tan pants to work that day and let’s just say that I could have entered my pants into a wet t-shirt competition. :)

I once had to share a 3 hour ride with a complete stranger. My friend had a house at the beach that I was going to visit her at over Spring Break in college for a girls week away and asked if I could pick up another one of her friends on the way. Luckily she was nice and social and we talked the entire way.
