Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

As much as I love our furbabies, I always cringed when the-love-of-my-life, Brad, shared an ice cream cone with our Boxer Bentley. The he licked-it-Bentley-slobbered-oh-look-it’s-gone! moments were too much “sharing” for me. There were boundaries that just didn’t need to be crossed! I stuck to my guns until after a gorgeous after-work run, I popped in the shower. Brad thought it would be hil-arious! to sneak our four-legged kid, Reagan, (and my running buddy) into the shower while I was washing my hair. I yelled in surprise, Reagan got soaked, and Brad rolled on the floor in glee! In the end, my canine companion and I emerged so fresh and so clean–clean. Now, every time I’m in the shower, Reagan pokes her nose around the shower curtain to see if I’ll share some soap suds!

Share me! This past weekend was my oldest son, Alex’s 5th birthday party and he received a really cool power ranger samurai sword, (well he thinks it is really cool). His little brother was having lots of fun with it as well. Alex had also received some money for his birthday and when we asked him what he wanted to buy with it he told us he wanted to buy a sword for his brother so they could both have one. I had a proud parent moment right there! I am glad that he is showing some of the good values that we had hoped had come through in our everyday lives, and that he loves his brother so much!

SHARE ME! For some reason, the first thing that pops into my head as a sharing story is the Sesame Street skit where Ernie’s trying to divvy up pizza and grape juice with Bert. But it’s never quiiiite even so he takes a nibble here, a sip there, till it’s all gone! Cracks me up. And thank you, what a generous giveaway!

SHARE ME! My family of five had to share a bag of chips and a bowl of watermelon as our only food on a deep sea fishing boat. We were out for an overnight trip and brought food to cook but the oven, stove, and barbecue were all broken so we missed three meals! We feasted like kings as soon as we got back on shore.

SHARE ME! Our one cat, Desmond, reeeally likes bread, so every time we order or make pizza he gets super excited, because he knows he’s gonna get a few little pieces of pizza crust, even though we usually NEVER feed our cats people-food. It’s just too fun to share! =D

Growing up as one of four kids led to lots of forced sharing but also lots of hiding things to avoid it!

I always have to have a bite of my husband’s food. He hates it, but after 11 years he just rolls his eyes and waits for me to take a bite first before digging in.

I went on vacation to Fort Lauderdale last year and ended up having to share a hotel room with my boyfriend, his roommate, his girlfriend, and both of his parents. It was interesting to say the least.

Sharing a bathroom with my brother growing up has left me with an inability to tolerate the sound of nail clippers being used near me — like nails on a chalkboard for me! Why do men love to clip their nails every few days?

Remember your mom having to draw an invisible line in the backseat of the car because you couldn’t share the bench seat!? Yep, that was us. Of course it always was followed by “Mooooom, she is touching me!!!”

SHARE ME! Growing up with only sisters……it was quite an eye opening experience after I got married and had to start sharing a bathroom with a guy — my husband! Love him, but guys can be very gross in the bathroom!

SHARE ME! I shared a moving van road trip with my boyfriend two years ago. We went from MN to WA and it was the most time we had ever spent physically together (long-distance relationship) It was the best three days and 1200 mile journey!

When I was in college, my roommate used to come back from breaks with tons of new clothes. Not me. So she was always nice enough to share with me. Until…she would get so mad because people would always compliment me on “my” outfit but no one said anything to her when she wore it. She was really MAD! So, from that point on I only wore her older clothes…never her newer ones. I didn’t want her to feel bad. Haha!

My sister and I shared a bedroom from the time I was 4 till I went to college. Being completely opposite people, this didn’t go well. I love that now that we have grown up, live on our own, we enjoy each other’s company much more.

Share me! My 2 year old brother, sitting in his highchair, eating lunch one day looked at my mom and said “cheese in my heart”. “No, David, said my mom, you’re eating cheese, its not in your heart.” “Yes, cheese in my heart,” he repeated. She finally realized that he was trying to say “Jesus in my heart.” He had learned this phrase in Sunday school :)

SHARE ME! I share a bed with my lovely husband who talks/walks in his sleep about 3 times per week. One night I woke up with him standing over me trying to hold the ceiling up from falling on me. What a hero.

My family rented some cabins in the Colorado Mountains for vacation. My husband and I shared our cabin with my brother and sister in law. Only problem was the only bathroom was in the very corner of the kitchen which meant no privacy and everyone could hear everything when you had to use the bathroom.

My story is not one of my finer moments. When my parents took my sister and I to Disney they made us share meals and drinks while we were in the parks to save money. About 4 days into the weeklong trip, I was sick of sharing so I blew up at my parents and screamed, “I just want my own Coke!” Looking back, I can’t believe how horrible I was on that trip. My parents were so incredibly generous for taking us on that trip and I should have been 1,000 times more grateful. The worst part? I was 20 years old when this happened. Yeah, I’m not proud. A smarter, more mature me would have bought my own Coke and thanked my parents profusely for paying for the trip.

SHARE ME: I never shared a room with a sibling or anyone until college. I had a great roommate my freshman year, except she didn’t exactly go out and use her dining plan. I would use every penny out of mine. I would come home to find her emptying my food because she was so hungry. At one point, she was eating a can of salsa with a spoon! :)

SHARE ME! Funny story about one of the first dates I went on with my now husband. In my family we always shared our food at a restaurant so we could all taste different things. So I asked for a bite of his spaghetti and he says “But it’s MY spaghetti!” I was so embarrassed. In his family, you didn’t share food, you waited until the person was done before snagging a bite of their leftovers. 11 years later he’s used to it and even enjoys the sharing and trying of different dishes when we’re out to eat. :)

SHARE ME! My brother and I were 18months apart, and we did everything, including taking baths. We thought nothing was strange about this until my grandparents came to watch us for a week while our parents were in Hawaii on their anniversary trip. Imagine our dismay when my grandmother told us it was inappropriate and we weren’t allowed to take baths together any more! We were in second and third grades – so about 8 and 9 years old I believe.

I’m an only child and my best friend comes from a family of 7, and her parents always joked I was the 6th child. My father passed away when I was young, so when it came time for me to get married, my best friend lovingly shared her father with me to be my escort. One of the sweetest moments of my life!

share me! i used to share a room with my stepsister when i stayed at my dad’s house. she’s about 10 years older than i am. i would not go to sleep until she did. she is a total perfectionist so she would do her nails before bed and then if she messed one up she would have to do the whole hand over. i would be sitting there- in agony- wanting to go to sleep but not being able to! i was so happy when she got married! lol.

I used to be a swing dancer and all my friends and I were “starving artists”. We would drive into San Fransisco to dance but didn’t want to spend any more than absolutely necessary on gas and tolls. So, one time we crammed seven people into my Hyundai Accent (which barely held four comfortably). Oh, to be young and stupid again. ;)

Share Me! As the only girl (not counting my mom) in a family of 7 I was the only person in our tiny house who DIDN’T have to share a bedroom. Even though it had spiders and was in the basement, I was thankful for my own little corner to escape the noise and chaos. (Does that count as a reverse sharing story? I DID share with spiders and occasional ants. Does THAT count???)
