Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Growing up with a very close-in-age sister, we had to share EVERYTHING. A bedroom, clothes, friends… you name it. Luckily we’re still super close and she’s having a baby soon, so hopefully she’ll share him with me! :)

SHARE ME! i’ve been sharing a small loft condo with a boyfriend for about six years. unfortunately, the relationship has now disintegrated (partly because of the small space), but i’m in need of new decor to spiff things up now that i have the place to myself. i would love some bold items to contrast with the sleek-lined furniture i have in there. joss & main has some really lovely stuff that would fit that bill!

Share me! I am a certifiable germophobe, so it took me months of dating my (now) husband before I would share a drink with him… kisses were ok for some reason ;)

SHARE ME! I sleepwalk (and am a compulsive cleaner), and once had to share a hotel room with a co-worker on a trip while I was in college. I was giving a presentation the next day, and as a result slept very restlessly. When six months later I mentioned in conversation that I sleepwalk, she exclaimed “Oh thank God!”. I asked why, and she explained that on that trip, she had awoken to see me standing at her bedstand, examining the lamp on it. When she asked me what I was doing, I told her “It’s time to clean.” She was thoroughly freaked out. Oops!

My mother ran a small preschool in our home when I was a little girl. The whole preschool was basically comprised up of other little girls who were my age, so you can imagine how hairy things could get when My Little Ponies came out of their bin. So as any good 4 yr old would do (or so I thought) I would assign toys for people to play with and then after an allotted amount of time, I would have the girls switch. This meant no more fighting.
My mom still laughs about it to this day though I know that she had to be grateful for it at the time.

Share me! I had to share a room with my sister for quite a while when I was young. I did like the bunkbeds we had, but I was happy to get my own room when my older sister went to college.

With two younger sisters we shared the second floor of my parents’ house growing up. In addition to a athroom, we shared all three closets. To this day I swear my sister still has the Benneton rugby she claims I “shared” with her in 1992.

I had to share the attention of my dad with a (giant) video camera with my cute little brother! There are plenty of videos of me pushing him (in his bouncy seat walker thing) out of the way, standing right in front of the camera and asking my dad, “What are you looking at?” Needless to say, I did NOT like sharing!

SHARE ME! I grew up with an older brother – I would happily share all of my toys with him, and, in exchange, I would help myself to his toys and end up breaking them. The joy of having younger siblings. :-)

I grew up in Europe, in a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment: four adults (my ailing grandparents came to live with us,) me and my sister–who is 11 years youger than me, so we had nothing in common while I lived at home. Did I mention my piano? I played for years, so I had to have one to practice. I laugh now when one of my friends mentions how tough it was to share a bedroom with a sibling. In the summer I slept in the hallway on a foldout cot! I never felt cheated–I didn’t know it could be different until I came to the States. Now I have a walk-in closet I would have happily called my room way back then.

The most harrowing experience I’ve had was just last October when my boyfriend and I went hiking in the North Cascades. We didn’t plan really well, so when we got to the final hike destination (the half-way point of the full hike) we realized we wouldn’t make it back down the 4.5 mile, 4,000 foot decent trail before it became pitch black. To top it off, once we got to the forest (in the darkness with just a little flashlight) the trail was indistinguishable from the brush. We got lost twice going down the wrong trail. I genuinely thought we’d have to sleep in the dirt — or run into a bear! Luckily, we made it back OK, but it was a very frightening experience.

SHARE ME: A long, but funny-strange story: Once I got stuck at the airport while trying to leave a conference in Harrisburg, PA because my evening flight had been cancelled while we were all waiting in the terminal. Because I was trying to leave to get back home, I didn’t have a hotel room to crash in over night, and the airport was quickly closing. On top of this, the conference that I was leaving and a huge Dave Matthews Band concert that was taking place there that weekend had completely filled almost all of the hotels, and there were no rooms to stay in. In addition, the airport was kicking us out. With no options other than sleeping on a bench outside of the airport, I ended up sharing the one leftover hotel room in Harrisburg, PA with a total stranger from California! Before falling asleep (her on the bed, and me on a cot), she leaned over and said, “Here’s hoping you’re not a serial killer!” I felt the exact same way!!!! Luckily, we both survived the night, flew out the next morning and went our separate ways!

When I was little, my mother had an interesting technique for getting my sister and I to share fairly. If we were splitting something — a cookie, for instance — and I broke it in half, my sister would get to choose which one she wanted. We always tried to make our halves as even as possible and we were both always happy with the outcome!

Sharing always makes me think of sharing a room with my two sisters growing up. Lots of play time when we were small, and lying in beds wide awake talking as we grew older… and of course the animated “someone has to check out the noise in the closet” and “why is your stuff in my space” debates :)
It was a great part of growing up, so when we have kids they are definitely sharing a room!

Funny sharing memory…When my sister and I were visiting my aunt, we had to share an antique feather bed. My sister is 7 years older than I am, so she was about 14 and I was only 7, which made for a big difference in size! The feather bed was so soft that I had to hold on to the edge to keep from falling into her..and everytime I would fall asleep I would roll down into the middle and smack into her! We just kept laughing every time it happened!

SHARE ME! This is an embarrassing share story. Back in college I had to share a hotel room with my grandma for a family event in NJ. The morning of the event I was sitting on my bed in my jammies waiting to get ready when my grandma looked over at me and made a comment about the size of my breasts! Mortified. First and last time I shared a room with my grandma.
