Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME…I grew up with 4 older siblings, plus my 2 parents. Seven people sharing 1 bathroom was not cool. I am so glad that I have my own bathroom in my house now!

Growing up the oldest of four and the only girl, I was hit with the share-shock when I had to share a room with two roommates my freshman year of college. Bye bye me time in my own room. Luckily I had nice roommates. :)

Share me…. Sharing the back seat with my brother on family vacations. I’d wake up to him punching me in the leg because I accidentally “crossed the line”( the invisible line he had established at the beginning of the trip) :(

Can’t really think of a good sharing story…although my husband and I did just share a toothbrush for about a week after our 18 month old hid daddy’s toothbrush in his basket full of ties, ha ha. It took a while to find it and we were both too busy/kept forgetting to go buy a new one.

My little sister and I not only shared a room growing up, but my family was poor and we even had to share a bed…I feel sorry for my sister though, cause I peed the bed till 2nd grade. Nothing like waking up with other peoples pee on you. womp womp.

SHARE ME!! I had 2 older sisters and I loved to “share” their new clothes! :) They didn’t love it! What I didn’t love was getting all of their hand-me-downs!

SHARE ME! Sharing a townhouse with 5 other girls in college was sometimes a challenge. Often in a hormonal rage a roommate would flip out about something silly like eating an egg that wasn’t theirs (oh the insanity).
Jenny says
SHARE ME!! I never knew the true meaning of sharing until I got pregnant and had to share my body with a growing baby. Its worth every minute but can be tough sometimes.

My mother-in-law to-be (at that time) was treating herself and me to a hot stone massage at a small local spa. The spa informed us that they only had one hot stone warmer and asked if it would be okay for us to have our massages in the same room! It was basically like a couples massage! We shared a hot stone warmer.

Share me! It took me a while to learn to share with my husband:) Thankfully I did learn and will give him a bite of my expensive chocolate bars. (I didn’t say I was generous:)
Marla says
Share Me! My nephew offered to share two cookies with me when he was about 2. He took a long minute sizing up the two cookies to see which was bigger and which had more chocolate chips before handing me the slightly smaller and less chocolatey one.

SHARE ME! My Mom had this rule that we weren’t allowed CD players or Game Boys (this is old school) on road trips so we had to learn how to SHARE ANY kind of creativity we could on our 3 day road trips we could to Colorado. She thought that it would make for “good family time.” Now, I realize she was SLIGHTLY right, but a little bit of quiet CD player listening time wouldn’t have killed anybody right?

I remember sharing a room with my sister in a small house while our folks were building our new house. My sister put tape down the middle of our room leaving me a smidgen of space to get out, as her side had the door. Literally side stepping pressing my body against the wall to get out. She was older so I had to listen right?! I’m pretty sure she got the idea from DJ and Stephanie Tanner on a Full House episode. :)

Growing up, me and my three sisters (four girls!) had to share one bathroom. It wasn’t so bad when we were kids, but by the time we were teenagers… ah buddy it was rough!

SHARE ME! My husband and I had to share the TINIEST hotel room with our little 2 month old last year in Brooklyn. B/c we were too cheap to pay for a bigger room, the little ones crib was SO packed that we had to move it just to get to the toilet.
Jenn says
SHARE ME! We just built a house with a shared bathroom between our two kids’ rooms. We thought it would be great – but it is great for arguments!

When I was younger, I filled a 15 pound water balloon, and threw it up and down in my living room, only to have it eventually drop and get deep into the carpet. It smelled moldy for weeks. I was not my parents’ favorite child after that.

When my sister and I were little, we’d always have to split a chocolate mousse for dessert. My mom would draw a line down the center with a spoon to portion it off fairly. Then I would dig under her side to steal her mousse. No wonder I was a chubby kid!

My sister and I are only 17 mos apart, so we were close and I really looked up to her when we were young. So much so that I believed just about everything she told me, including that she could speak to animals, worms were actaully baby rattlesnakes, and she could get me to do just about anything if she told me it would give me magical powers.
I was a sucker for magical powers.

The bathroom sharing stories make me think of my cat…who’s trained to use the toilet. My old house only had one bathroom and a roommate and the cat would literally CUT in front of us in the morning to use the toilet…so yes, sharing a bathroom with a cat…

SHARE ME! I once shared a room on a professional retreat with a woman who was nearly 3x my age. We were paired up by the group host and I think my elder roomie and I were both a little nervous about the appointment. But, alas, we got along fabulously. We hiked together in our downtime and shared stories. We still keep in touch today…and she still calls me roomie :-)

share me! It was always a treat for my family to go out to eat- even just to fast food growing up. My uber-frugal parents would buy us one soda and we had to all share it (so funny that I thought it was lame then and now I make my two tiny kids do the exact same thing!). It freaked my middle bro out. To this day, he still can’t handle sharing drinks -even with someone he’s dating and we give him such a hard time about that! It’s o.k. germ wise for you to play tonsil hockey but you can’t share the same straw because God only knows what kind of germs you could get from that! ha!

One day when my son was 3 he asked his 7 yr. old sister if he could have some of her gum. She whined back it him “nooo, leave me alone” to which I responded from the other room “please share a piece of your gum with him”, thinking she was walking around with a pack. Soon after, I discovered she only had one piece which she was already chewing and that they were both now taking turns chewing it. Their self-created rule was something like, “You get the gum for 2 minutes and I get the gum for 2 minutes”.

I have a one-year old and her latest game is sharing her food with the dog. Only instead of just giving the dog her food, she holds it out so the dog can lick it, and then eats it herself. Lovely!

My husband and I both do hair so we share a chair at work. It’s awesome to see him so much. But occationally when we have an argument it’s turns into whisper fighting because we don’t want customers to overhear. Haha it’s really hard to convey a point when whispering.

Our 11-month-old daughter thinks it’s funny to “share” her food with us. She’ll hold her hand out to put it in our mouths, and then at the last second, she pulls her hand back and eats it herself. It’s really cute! At least it’ll be cute for a few more months until she’s old enough to really learn about sharing!
