Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

My husband is my best friend and sharing with him is second nature. We’re always looking out for each other and saving the last cookie/bite/whatever.

SHARE ME! Freshman year of college, I shared a dorm with two roomates. They were both sleep talkers – and would carry on “sleep conversations” with each other. Freaked. Me. Out.

We recently bought a Prius for the great gas mileage and and earth friendly qualities – plus with the hatchback we thought it would be great for the dogs when we go on trips to visit the family back in Arkansas. Did I mention we have four dogs? Three large and one medium sized. They got to share the entire back portion of our Prius for 6 hours each way! They did great though, no fighting, just sleeping and I caught the occassional cuddling. :)
Leah says
SHARE ME! We share our bed with our two big dogs and a cat. One dog lays on top of my legs, the other snuggles up next to my shoulder, and the cat sleeps on my chest. By morning, I’m pushed to corner of the bed without any covers. The things we do for our fur babies. ;-)

Share me! I had a terrible experience with my roommate in college. We lived in a dorm in which 4 girls shared a bathroom. Well, one of the girls was extremely lactose intolerant and well, didn’t stop eating cheese. The bathroom was often off limits due to the smell :) Gross, I know!

Alas, I am the world’s worst sharer. Ask any of my college roommates (sorry again, guys!) or my husband, who is, fortunately, the world’s best sharer and therefore the only person who could ever stand to co-habitate with me. When we first moved in together (to a teensy NYC alcove studio) I took the one closet.. and gave him a kitchen cabinet for his stuff. Yup, the worst.

My son just had his 1 year old birthday party this weekend and we invited his best girl friend from daycare over to come help celebrate. Apparently they are very good at sharing with each other at day care – to the expense of other little kids. One day his little girl friend took some of his afternoon snack, which he willingly let her have. But then, since he no longer had any of his own, his girl friend turned to the next little one and took theirs to give back to my son. How sweet…or something :)

When I was in high school, my cousin and I traveled to Europe together every summer. I know, lucky right? But, one summer we went from our 2 week long European vacation to the beach and then disney with my parents. After spending the entire month living 3 feet from each other, we were ready to tear each other’s eyes out. We still have fond memories, but vowed to never-ever spend that much time together again!

SHARE ME! My first dorm room was originally designed as a double occupancy, but due to high application rates, they threw another set of furniture in and made it a triple! It could have been a disaster, but I was lucky to land two amazing roomies.

I have to say recently I was in Target with my two daughters, 3 and 7. I decided to let them each purchase something for $5 or less. My youngest daughter found something that was $8 and immediately the older said, “Mom, I will share $3 with her so she can buy that. I don’t need anything today.” It made me realize that I she’s growing up so quickly! (PS… This mom caved and they both got something they wanted!)

Learning to share a house with my husband was a challenge! I’m an only child and it was quite a change to have someone else in “my” space 24/7. We didn’t even share a closet or a bathroom until we moved to our new house!
Moire says
SHARE ME. We have two boys and the younger one (17 months) is obsessed with those plastic push lawn mowers. He is just learning how to share but it’s still a hard concept, and I knew our 3, almost 4 year old son, would want to play with it too. So, I ended up buying two of those darn things! I know, I know. It would be better if they shared it. But it saved a lot of crying and whining and that was worth it:)
Leslie says
Share me! Having two younger sisters means A LOT of sharing. The closest one, 20 months younger, used to think my style was boring. Now she comes to DC for a visit and doesn’t pack a thing because she appreciates my simple, bright, smart clothes. Funny how things work out :)

I hated having to share a bathroom with 3 other girls in college! It was the early 90’s and every surface of that bathroom was covered in Stiff Stuff hairspray and Aussie Sprunch Spray. On the plus side, there was always someone in there to ‘beer you’ (hand you a fresh beer) while you were in the shower getting ready for a fun night out.

I had the priveledge of sharing a room with my sister growing up. I literally had to draw an invisible line across the middle of the room because she was the biggest slob. My side was always clean and picked up and of course hers was a disaster! Haha!

SHARE ME! I had to share a one bed hotel room with my husband and 3 yr old son for a week while we looked for home after being relocated to a new city. The three of us had to share the king size bed, even with our son came down with a stomach virus…not a good time.

I think the ultimate example of sharing is my grandmother and her six children sharing one bathroom in a 1,000 square foot house. Grandma still lives there alone now, and I’m sure it feels like nice, quiet palace.
