Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I think it’s rather amazing that my two sisters, brother and I managed to get ready for school every morning using only one bathroom (our Mom used the other one, which I guess we were very lucky to have!).

SHARE ME! One time in college, one of my roommates came home a bit um, intoxicated, and ate all of my cream sauce I had prepared for a meal. So, in trying to cover it up, she filled my tupperware container with mustard! And I hate mustard!

Share me! On the first day of a new job, my boss had me call to reschedule her mammogram. She told me to make sure they remembered her implants were silicone! Way too much sharing on a first day!

Share me! When my best friend and I went to Spain last fall we had to share a “double” bed that was actually not much larger than a twin. I swear it looked much bigger in the advertisment pictures when we booked the room.

As a kid, I definitely didn’t share sadly! I got my own bathroom as I grew up (with 2 other siblings) and didn’t have to share until I got to college (with 3 other girls). I was the OCD neat freak and let’s just say they…weren’t. Boy, did it loosen me up a bit! :)

Share me please! My kids are constantly learning how to share, but sometimes they take advantage of sharing. Like my son Alex loves to eat chips. So he will eat up his chips, and then he will want to eat up his sister’s chips. When she does not want to give him any, he turns to me and says, “Sarah’s not sharing.”

When I got pregnant, my former boss always thought it was appropriate to overshare details of his wife’s labor and delivery with me at after-work functions. It was so uncomfortable and I never knew what to say!

I once (accidentally) shared my fiance’s toothbrush when we were traveling. I didn’t realize I was using it until AFTER I had finished brushing my teeth. Thankfully, he didn’t care so all was well. Guess I’ll have to remember my color brush a bit better!

I remember sharing hotel rooms when we took family vacations as kids. There were 2 boys and 2 girls and our parents. We all shared one room, so one night the girls would get the bed, the next night the girls. I remember waking up one morning, both my sister and I had rolled into each other in the middle of a FLAT air mattress! Good times!

SHARE ME! My niece just turned two and we’re trying to teach her how to share with my one-year-old daughter. Fun times!

Growing up, we lived in a studio apartment. My sister and I had to sleep in a bunk bed, and we fought constantly who will sleep on the top and bottom bunk. One day, my sister and I got into a play “fight” and when I was on the top bunk waiting for come to reach over I moved the stairs and she got hit on the face. I know horrible, she ended up with a black and blue eye! We were both horrified and scared that mom and dad will get mad and punish us. Looking back there our childhood memories and its was kind of funny and we both hate bunk beds now!

Share Me! I’ll share a story about how I hate sharing food. Think tapas-style restaurant where you have to get a bunch of people to agree on a number of plates. Well, to me it seems to me like the fun of going out to dinner is ordering a meal for yourself to enjoy – not to awkwardly share food with a ton of people with different taste buds. I will stick to my own plate, thank you! :)

Share me! Every time I’ve ever shared the bed with someone, I either kick them, steal the covers, or snuggle up to them and try to share their pillow. Now that I’m married my husband doesn’t appreciate this nightly battle!

Share me! I had to share a hotel room as and athletic in college. I got food poisoning and ended up in the bathroom the whole time. So embarrassing!

When my husband I were just dating we were going to the museum one day. It was winter so it was snowing and really cold out so I hurried out to his car. After he got in and said “Oh, can you check to see if my gloves are in the trunk?” I jumped out and looked, nope not there. When I got back in the car he said “Are you sure they are not there? Can you check again?” At this point I was getting angry and couldn’t beleive he was making me look again and he had a sports car so the trunk was not that big anyway! I got out again and looked, still no gloves. At this point when I opened my door to get in he jumped out and said “Come here!” and he opened the trunk and said “You didn’t see THIS?” and I looked down and saw this HUGE beautifuly wrapped box with a HUGE blue bow on it. I don’t know HOW I ever missed seeing that twice!! We laughed about it for a really long time. Great memory!! Oh and it was a Berkin bag in case you are wondering :)You can see why I married him, lol!!

I shared a bedroom with my brother growing up. One night when we still had baby monitors we started yelling for our parents sitting down right in front of it. Eventually we yelled loud enough that they heard it and came downstairs thinking something was drastically wrong. We discovered the baby monitor had been turned off all along and we were just screaming our lungs off.

My husband and I recently moved to the US from overseas and initially stayed with my mother, in the basement of her row house, meaning no natural light at all. Painful enough. We also got to share that dungeon with our two bigger-than-Burger dogs. For four months!
We’ll still teach our daughter that sharing is caring, but that experience was a bit much.

SHARE ME! When I was in middle and high school, I was the girl who always had a pack of 2 of gum with me. I could never say no when someone asked me for a piece. I would share and share and share and then after a lunch? No gum left for me! I learned to say NO after that. :)

After my parents divorced, meaning one of us 3 kids got to sit up front in the car, we would fight about it all.the.time. Finally, my mom instituted a system – we each had days of the month. Mine were those that ended in 2, 5, and 8, plus the 20th. Ridiculous, but it worked to end the arguing! :)

My little guy is 2.5 years old, his new thing is every time we are at the store he asks the clerk; “How are you today?”. They usually say fine or good or “fillintheblank” with the appropriate response and then ask him, “How are you?”. He will either say “I’m fine” or “I’m doin’ great!” It is hilarious every time we hear it!

Sharing is caring! Except when you share your makeup and hair skills with your little brother. He’s now two feet taller than my sister and I, and I don’t think he’d let us do THAT to him again ;)

This is a story my sister told me.
When she was a med student, she interned one summer at the National Institues of Health (NIH). There were a lot of foreign students who worked there as well. One day a group of them were eating their respective lunches together, and one student was eating some fried chicken. Another student saw the pile of leftover bones on the plate, and saw that there were still little bits of meat on them, and grabbed one to gnaw on. Without asking. Guess she didn’t want to waste any food! Where she grew up, they really cleaned their plates! Hmm… not sure if this is a story about sharing, but the first student was forced to share with the second?

The funniest thing most recently was trying to get my 3 year old to share with his 1 year old cousin…. He was visiting us, and the whole day my 3 year old just Did not want to share. After his cousin left, I went to clean the play room and my son had hidden all these random toys along with blankets under the couch cushion. It was pretty obvious but I guess my little guy didn’t think you could. It was hysterical.

My brother and I shared a room from the time I was in 4th grade (he was in 4K) until I went away to college, and, as a result, we had access to each others stuff. I just learned this year that one time when he was mad at me he threw my sneakers in the woods beside our house and left them there for several days. I never knew where they’d vanished to or why they were so dirty when they showed back up…

SHARE ME! Me and 4 of my siblings had to share the back seat of a jeep wrangler when we were at the beach as kids. We’d take out the actual seat, 2 kids would sit on the raised tire cover and I’d get stuck on the floor near everyone’s feet since I was the youngest!

SHARE ME! I never really had to share much since I was the baby of the family. My Mom, bless her heart, lost her parents at a young age and was an orphan so sharing is hard for her. I feel that I’ve really learned a big lesson in sharing and generosity since I’ve lived in my neighborhood for the last few years. I feel blessed to have some wonderful friends who are great examples to me!

Share me! My girls thought they didn’t like sharing a room and were excited to get their own rooms when we moved. But I have to say, every chance they get (usually on a weekend night), they have a “sleepover” in each other’s rooms. I think they secretly miss sharing a room!
