Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! Last summer, I traveled to Europe with my good friend, Ellen. For about 4 nights, we stayed with some friends in Durham, England, on their very small and slightly sagging pull-out couch. Let’s just say we both spent 4 nights practically clinging to the edge of the bed, to avoid waking up on top of each other.

As a kid, I had to share the top bunk on my grandma’s houseboat with my mom when we visited. One morning I woke to her cowering against the window…apparently I had full on punched her while I was having a dream! oops! ;)

SHARE ME! I’ll never forget having to “share” my blanket during nap time in grade school. I didn’t really decide to share it though. The teacher took it off my as I napped because another student looked colder than me. Worst!

I met one of my best friends in college by sharing my marker paper. She called the art store I worked at and I from talking we realized we were in the same intro class. I offed to share. :) She couldn’t find any at the store on campus. We’ve been friends 8 years even though we are east/west coast now. She’s awesome.

I had to share a bedroom with my two brothers and a bunk bed with one while the youngest was in a crib. I was so happy to be the girl and never have to share a bedroom again once I was about 8.

SHARE ME. We had a large family and one of everything (not really), but limited resources meant there weren’t many ‘me’ things till we were in our late teens. It was both good and bad.

Our family has a group of friends that go camping together a couple of times a year. Each family picks one night to fix dinner for the whole group. It’s wonderful because you only have to cook one night, and you get to enjoy everyones great cooking!

I shared a room with my twin sister growing up and I have the opposite problem than most people. When we were 16 we moved and got our own rooms, it was awful. We ended up using walkie talkies because we missed it!

SHARE ME – When I first met what would become my best friend she drove me crazy b/c she would always “share” my drink in school. Everyday at lunch she’d grab a drink off my pop like we’d known eachother forever. Luckily we became best buds so I didn’t mind sharing after that.

I just attended my future sister-in-law’s bachelorette party… talk about over-sharing!! I learned way too many risque tidbits that night, not only about my brother’s fiance, but about my aunt, my sister, and my mother… yikes!

When I was growing up, my mom was known to enjoy driving around with the tree on top of the car, which was horrifying when we were in middle or high school – especially if it was still on the car WHILE SHE DROPPED US OFF AT SCHOOL in the morning. So one year we’d gone out to buy our tree and it was tied to the roof of our car, and when we got home my sister decided to take the initiative in getting the tree off of the car & inside the house. She cut the twine and then came inside to find me and Mom, so we could bring the tree in. But as she was asking for my help, we heard the car start, and ran outside to see our mom driving out of the driveway to run an errand. When Mom got home, the tree was no longer on the car and she hadn’t noticed it fall off. After driving around retracing her route, we weren’t able to find the tree – it was lost, and hopefully found a good home. But my mom called the police to report a missing Christmas tree, in case anyone turned it in!

Share me!! The most trying “sharing” experience was definitely in college when my roommate and I shared a tiny, tiny, apartment bedroom with very little room to move around – and we only had the one small closet between the two of us!

Sharing a college dorm room with 2 other girls – the rooms were about 9′ wide at the widest point and pie-shaped because it was a circular tower with rooms all around the perimeter. Talk about a challenge in furniture placement and organization. It was supposed to be a room for 2 and even that would have been crowded, but do to some troubles with random roommate assignment, we made the best of it with 3 of us. We’re still best friends to this day!

Hubby and I are slowly pinching pennies so we can someday turn the unfinished space in our house into a master bedroom and bathroom..complete with double sinks! Such a little complaint, but seriously? When all a man really has to do in the morning is brush their teeth how do they manage to take so darn long?

Share me! I actually did travel with my boss last year when we shared a hotel room. Naturally, she went into the shower first. I started to panic as the time ticked away, wondering what she was doing. When she came out she said, “Have fun with that. Just wait.” It wasn’t until I got in the shower I realized what the issue was. The shower head was broken/limp. You had to hold it with one hand and shower what you could, then swap hands. Needless to say, we felt like we had been at camp!

When I got my drivers license, I was given the opportunity to share the car with my sister. We did not get along, so every time I tries to go anywhere, she would sit on the hood of the car! So unfair. In the end, I gave up, and opted to drive my mom’s Astro van to school/around town so I wouldn’t have to deal with my sister! Ha! I haven’t thought about that in a long time! :)
PS – have no worries! We get along just fine now! :)

My brother and I – who are two years apart – shared a cell phone in high school! How funny is that to think of now? We had an old Nokia phone that was kept off and in my back pack, and was only to be turned on if we needed to call home in an emergency! My how times have changed :)

My sister and I still laugh about our screaming matches. One of us would be at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom, and we yelled some terrible things, usually about whose turn it was to feed the pet rabbits. :)
