Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I don’t like sharing ice cream, even with my kids, but I’ve learned to allow my husband a little taste every now and then.

I remember the days back when I was in high school, when my whole family “shared” a cell phone. Whoever was going out, we’d have to take it with us so the others could reach us. Of course this just meant the phone (one of those old-style Motorola brick numbers) got lost all the time and was never charged. But we were so modern! With our cell phone! Seems so silly now.

I won’t go into detail since it’s a bit on the gross side, but our darling 10 month old daughter shared her Hand Foot and Mouth Disease with her daddy. He got hit hard — far worse than she did. Once he was over the initial discomforts, I joked that we’re teaching her the value of sharing at an early age!

Hardly harrowing, but when we visit my brother/sister-in-law, the guest room shares a jack & jill bathroom with our 3 year old nephew’s room… who is potty training. Needless to say, it’s no longer safe to quickly hope in the bathroom at night without hitting the lights!

I shared a bed with my sister and she insisted on sleeping with every doll/stuffed animal we owned!

share me! My sisters & I shared a room growing up and shared a full size bed with one of them. Someone was always crossing the understood “line” that separated our sides and the pushing always started soon after. But I appreciate having had to share my space as it made it easier to deal with roommates in college.

SHARE ME! My husband is a notoriously great sharer, especially of food. I, on the other hand, am the bake-off-and-order-your-own type of girl. I feel a bit hypocritical teaching my kids to have a sharing heart. =)

SHARE ME! Right now I am working on teaching my 18 month old how to share…and though I know he is too young to really get the concept, we practice with his lovey doll and it is so cute when he offers it half of what he has!

A few weeks ago, we had a family get together, and when my mom was talking and motioning with a buttered roll in her hand (for emphasis of course), my 2 year old niece thought my mom was sharing her roll with her and took a huge bite right out of it as my mom was talking!

When I was little I had to share a room with my brother, who, to this day, snored louder than anyone I’ve ever met in my lifetime. As “payback” I would climb down from my bunk bed and pinch his nose until he started snoring/breather through his mouth and eventually wake up, where I would run into the bathroom or my mom’s room and hide. This happened pretty much every night for the few years we had to share a room.

My neighbors pool recently fell into a state of disrepair after a harsh winter (the brick surround crumbled and made it essentially unuseable and dangerous last summer.) Since it’s a well shared neighborhood pool we were all disappointed and saddened by our neighbors’ misfortune. At the time, they couldn’t afford the hefty price tag to fix it but have decided this Spring that they will. Of course, our entire neighborhood is delighted (especially my 5 and 7 year olds, the heaviest users!) Recently, the pool owners stopped by to borrow some tools and my 7 year overheard him telling my husband that he was going to fix it, he inquisitively asked “How much will that cost?” and the neighbor appropriately replied “Oh,a lot of money.” Next thing I know, my son returns with his Star Wars wallet, which he has un-velcroed, and tries to give our neighbor his hard earned cash to help pay for the pool repairs. I was so proud of him for understanding that he could SHARE in the cost to fix the pool since our neighbor’s so openly SHARE the use of their pool. Lots of sharing going on in our ‘hood.

SHARE ME! I’m an only child, so sharing has not always been my strong point. When my husband and I bought our first home, we moved in with four dressers and there are three closets. Needless to say, I take up three of the four dressers and two of the closets. Though we do equally share the coat closet in the foyer :) I’m learning!

SHARE ME! Don’t try to share a washing machine with my sister-in-law! When we were vacationing at the beach one summer I saw her loading the washer and just tossed a color appropriate item in. No worries right? Wrong, she was not happy and I got an earful about the proper things to wash and not wash together! We laugh about it but boy is she serious about her wash.

My BFF and I share our closets with each other. Every 6 months or so we exchange bags of our clothes that we no longer want. Its great because it feels new to the other person and helps rid us of those clothes that sit in the back of the closet unworn. Half the time we hang out we have something of each other’s on.

She is positive he saw- she just looked at him and said ‘i don’t think I’m going to make dinner… why don’t you head on without me.’ i haven’t laughed that hard in a LONG TIME!

I have no good stories to share about myself, but my silly husband tried to keep up drinking with his boss one night and they shared a hotel room. My husband was sooo sick – no hiding that from the boss when he is in the room! My husband was quite embarrassed.
Anyway, would love to win, thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

I have an Indian coworker, and every single day, I walk into his office and ask him to share his curry lunch with me! Growing up in my culture, we never had such deliciously spicy food! He always gives me a little dixie cup full sample for the day! He is the best “sharer” around!

I love food. And my love for food has resulted in my having a bit of a problem with sharing.
My husband and I met for lunch one day (while I was on maternity leave). He and I enjoyed our meal and he ordered us some fabulous cookie dough flautas to go. Well, we each had a piece the restaurant and I took the rest home with me. Well… they did not last. I told him that they did not taste all that great after all so I had to toss them.
He could see right through me – he laughed at me because he knew I could not resist just having one piece.
My name is Jessie and I love food and your blog!

I was doing some project or other that involved a rotary cutter, and managed to slice through my computer’s power cord. I had to “share the power” with my family, and we would pass the computer plugs back & forth, based on who was running out of juice at the time. After that incident, we all used colored Sharpies to label our power cords.
