Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME…I shared a double bed for a little while growing up with my sister. We were not in the stage of being generous, especially with a sister. We had vertically striped sheets and if either one of us moved over the middle line we were alowed to pinch the other person. So much for sharing.

My sister and I shared a bedroom growing up. When we were little, instead of going to sleep we used to have pillow sack races on our beds. It was awesome. We laugh about it to this day!

My son is almost 1 and I took him recently to a childrens museum with an infant play area. I was shocked how wonderful he was at sharing the toys, he was offering up toys to kids and didn’t freak out with other little rascals took toys from him.

I was always glad growing up that my little sister was eight years younger than myself, so she never could borrow my clothes. In fact, I so hated the idea of sharing anything with her that when my mom brought her a bright blue Speedo swimsuit in the same color I already had, I threw a fit and made my mom take it back and get her a navy blue one instead. It so scarred her that to this day (she’s 21 now), if she is ever thinking about getting anything remotely similar to an item I have, she’ll call and ask if it’s okay. Yup, it’s 15 years later and I’m still trying to convince her that I am, in fact, over it!

SHARE ME! My brother and I had our own rooms growing up, but we usually just shared my room, even though we fought all the time, we liked sharing a room best.

This may be a little TMI but when I was in a summer program in high school, I had to share a bathroom with 20 other girls in a cabin. We all came from different parts of the state so we didn’t know each other too well but spent almost two weeks together. Well I’ve always been very shy and could not bring myself to use the restroom with all these strangers. So at night I would sneak into the restroom and do my thing so no one would know. It’s seems silly now but at 16 you’ll do just about anything to keep from getting embarrassed. :)

I have shared a bedroom with my older brother my entire life until college. I’m a clean freak and he is the messiest person alive. At one point I couldn’t take it anymore so I taped off my half of the room so he couldn’t put any of his stuff on my side, ala DJ and Stephanie on Full House. Hey it worked!

SHARE ME! The first thing I thought of was how I shared a Little Debbie Fudge Round with my little boy this morning….it didn’t go as far as I expected, so we ended up sharing 2….yum.

I took my niece and nephew to the movie theater this weekend. We saw The Lorax, adapted from Dr. Seuss’ book. Candy and drinks were snuck in by yours truly, but we did actually buy popcorn when we got there. My five year-old niece laughed loudly throughout the entire movie. Fortunately, we were just about the only people in the theater. I think everyone had a great time, even though the ending made me cry–YEP, a children’s movie can reduce me to tears. Dancing cartoons get me every time. It was a great family movie with good messages on numerous levels. I would recommend it to anyone!

Over spring break me and 6 other friends found ourselves having to get a hotel room before leaving for our cruise and only having enough money for one room. There were 7 of us trying to share 2 full size beds and a couch. Safe to say sharing a full size bed with 2 other people is uncomfortable and not a recipe for a good nights sleep.

SHARE ME! My cat thinks that I should share my food with him — I was eating yogurt while siting on the couch last week and he was perched on the back of the couch over my shoulder. I leaned over to grab the remote and he shoved his while face into the carton!

When I was about 8 years old, my mom says I was a very mellow kid and, I’d like to think, a pretty good sharer. But one time when my cousin was visiting she put on a pair of my favorite shoes (without asking) when I was playing outside and I think I freaked cus she didn’t ask. I went crazy kid on her.

I shared a bathroom with my mom, my older and younger sister. I have yet to figure out why my stepdad had his own bathroom. Maybe it had something to do with all the hairspray and make up!
Luckily my twin daughters will get to have their own tiny bathrooms and mine is on another floor, so I won’t hear them fighting over makeup!

SHARE ME!! My brother and I had to share a bathroom growing up and I hated it. He’d steal all the hot water and run into the bathroom just before me every morning, but it felt so strange once I got my own bathroom as an adult. I missed battling over the bathroom with him and all the laughs we had along the way!

Teaching a little one to share is a Challenge. We have two little ones and teaching them and make them understand the whole concept is tough. For the most part though my kids are pretty good about sharing with thier friends but not with eachother. Oh well you cant win them all!

SHARE ME! My boss’ 4 year old son always gives me a piece of candy, or a coin from his pocket, and says “I’m sharing. Isn’t that so nice of me?” I always thought it was adorable, but very odd, until I heard his mother say once “Are you sharing? That’s so nice of you!”

When I was 4 and my little brother was brought home from the hospital I literally thought he belonged to me, and I BEGGED for him to be moved out of his nursery and into my bedroom. My parents finally gave in and let us share a room. I used to get him out of his crib and into my HUGE (seemed at the time) queen bed to read stories to him. I never wanted to share “my baby.” :)

SHARE ME! I can’t think of a funny story to share, but since Easter is coming up I’ll say this – I think one of the most challenging things to share when you get married…is sharing ‘time’ between families during the holidays.
Very generous of you guys to share this gift!

Share Me! I have never had my own bedroom. For 25 years it was shared with my siblings and as of this past September my husband. When I left for college my sister got rid of her single bed in our room and started sleeping in my double. The next four summers we shared the same bed too! Most people thought we were odd birds for doing such a thing. I love my family.

My sister is 3 years older to me, so we had one year together in high school (she was a senior to my freshman)… she’d get picked up by her bf earlier than I’d leave, so I’d sneak into her closet and ‘borrow’ her clothes – but I’d always be busted when we ran into each other in the school hallways, ha! As we’ve gotten ‘older’ we’ve learned how to share better :)

My sister and I always wanted a puppy but our parents never allowed us to have one. When we got older we decided to move to the attic and fix up our room/office there. We got a puppy and although my mom wasn’t happy about it, we shared doggy duties and that allowed us to care for our precious Dora and team up on all the responsibility of having a dog! Now we are her “parents” and I’m happy she chose me as the mommy haha.

When our son was born the hospital was unexpectedly PACKED with laboring/delivering mothers. Because of the “crowds” we had to share a laboring room with 3 other mothers… whoever was progressing the fastest got the next available delivery room! Then post-birth, we shared our hospital room for the next two days with another family. Two hospital beds, two babies, two fathers + extended family… it was TIGHT. Picture the other mother and I being able to hold hands while still sitting in our beds. Definitely an experience to remember!!
