Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! I am a kindergarten teacher and every morning students in my class sign up to share. Well, this particular morning a little girl (6 years old) got up and shared how she and her mother were accused of robbing an ATM on the way to school! Her mother happens to be a teacher at our school and we were all very confused in the class… until hearing the mother’s version later in the day! Of course, the kids choose to share those scary stories!

my boss once threw up on me! to be fair, she was newly pregnant and very morning sick. We were chatting about an upcoming conference call that morning and she turned a horrible shade of green and threw up all over my lap.
She and I were mortified.

My mom thought I was mute/had a speech problem (my older sister spoke for me) and sent me to speech therapy when I was 3ish. I remember sitting there in a closet of a room as a therapist held up flashcards with a letter and a corresponding letter. When he finally got to “W” he started saying “W is for window. See the window? Can you say window for me?” To which I replied, “why?there aren’t any windows in here.”
Apparently I was just a smart ass.

Growing up we had the only swimming pool in the family so all the relatives under 20 would get dropped off at our house and spend the entire summer using my stuff and telling me what to do (I was the only girl and one of the youngest kids). Sharing got a lot easier when I was old enough to realize how cute all my cousins were.

I just admitted to a co-worker that I (and my boyfriend) sleep in a room that looks like it was designed for a 13 year old boy. We have basketball jerseys and hats on the walls and framed pictures of sports ledgends. We are 30. But I have been given free reign to decorate all of the other rooms of the house so he gets to decorate the bedroom. I guess I can let him have it :-)

One time, when I was a kid, I “shared” the blame with my sister when I licked all the frosting off a cake that my mom had baked. I didn’t ‘fess up until after my sister had already been spanked. She’s kinda still holding a grudge for that one haha

SHARE ME! I’ve been trying to teach my 2-year-old how to share. Instead of sharing her toys with other kids, when she wants a toy someone else is playing with she steals it and then tells them to share. :)

Share me! I teach first grade and my students share EVERYTHING with me – stories about themselves, stories about their parents (future sidenote- don’t tell Clara things you don’t want her teacher to know, haha), germs, and most of all… their wonderful spirits and imaginations.

I travel a decent bit for work and it is our company policy to have everyone stay in their own room. Well, on one trip the hotel sold out and I had to bunk up with a co-worker. We had the best time ever! We watched tv in our pjs and were completely the opposite of business-like. It was such a great experience.

Well when my (now husband) and I met we went out to eat and ordered EXACTELY the same thing. So when he reached over and took a piece of my chicken I was perplexed and asked him why…needless to say it has been a sore spot of his for awhile because we usually share everything. He’ll never let me live it down that I was “unwilling” to share my meal with him!

We’re having some work done on our bathroom. I had a question about the shower fixture. Having tested the faucets, I KNEW the water wasn’t hooked up yet. So I asked the contractor about the shower hook up, while he was standing in the stall. Yep, you guessed it. Good thing he has a great sense of humor!

From the time I was about 3 to the time I was about 8 my sister and I shared a bedroom. I did have my own, but it was too scary to sleep in. My grandparents had built the house in the 1950’s so over the years it ended up creaking alot. Also, my bedroom had 2 attics and a walk in closet which equals so many places for monsters to hide! So every night I went into my sister’s room to sleep. So much safer in there!

I remember when I was very young, I shared my house, my mother attention, my bathroom and my friends with my cousin, who came from the south to go to university in my city. It was hard at first time, but then I learned to share as she was a little sister of mine and it was fun.

When reading bedtime stories to my two year old daughter, Sienna, we picked up The Giving Tree. There is a picture of Shel Silverstein on the back cover, and I asked Sienna if she knew who the picture was. She said “Uncle Jason!” who is my mountainous brother-although not bald he does have a very thick beard and bushy eyebrows. It only happened last month, but it is one of my favorite memories of bed time with Sienna. It always makes me smmile!

When I was in college I stayed at hostels while travelling through New Zealand, where EVERYTHING was shared, including a 4 person sleeping room. My 2 friends took one set of bunk beds and I was left to split the second bunk with an older gentleman travelling by himself. I let him take the bottom bunk since I didn’t want him breaking a bone climbing in and out of bed. Well when I climbed out of my bunk one morning, I kicked over a glass by the bottom bunk and felt warm liquid splash over my foot and leg. Turns out, the older gentleman was just as lazy as he was drunk and decided to relieve himself in a bedside water glass while we all slept.
Needless to say, I haven’t stayed in a hostel since, but I still find ways to share :)

When my husband and I were getting married, I was trying really hard not to cry during the ceremony. As we were saying our vows, my lips kind of stuck together from emotion when we got to the “repeat after me” part. Instead of saying, “I, Val, take you Tim” it came out “I, Meow, take you Tim” I wanted to die. My husband still to this day teases me that we aren’t really married.
