Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

As a part of an AmeriCorps team working with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans, I shared an old classroom with 50 other volunteers as a living space. Bunk beds lined the room and personal belongings went under the beds. Tight quarters, but we were there for a good reason!

The first night that I let my dog sleep on my bed she decided to SHARE my pillow (which is tough because she’s a big pup), it all went well until I woke up around midnight, looked at her (thinking “what a good dog!”) and she sneezed right in my face. Now she sleeps at the foot of the bed, always.

I once shared a hotel room with 2 of my superiors when we went to a conference all the way across the country (to CA from NY). It was also my first time being away from my baby at the time (he was 9mo.) I literally cried myself to sleep each night. Luckily, they were both very understanding, but I sure felt like a fool! :)

We are expecting our THIRD little girl in a few weeks, so our other two daughters, ages 5 and 3, now have to share a bedroom. It’s been interesting, and tough to get two chatty girls in the same room to SLEEP!

I’ve been teaching my daughter to share and it’s the cutest thing ever. She’ll give anything up if you ask her to share and I love that about her.

My younger sister and I shared a room until we got to high school age. I loved the closeness it brought us and can’t wait to give that same experience to my daughter when we eventually give her a sibling one day!

SHARE ME! For my first “real job” I had to travel with my boss (a man 30 years my senior) that I’d only known for a month and had to share rental condos with sometimes including bathrooms. Awkward!

Went on a 3 or 4 day hiking trip with my parents and younger sister when I was in 6th grade or so. Though my Dad has packed a small tent, it was the middle of summer and warm at night so we slept under the stars, except for 1 night, when it was pouring rain. The 4 of us packed into a tent made for 2 people. We stayed dry for the most part, but we were packed in there like sardines. Camping as a kid was so much fun.

My brothers and I didn’t understand the concept of sharing when we were growing up, we would simply steal and hide. It was always a mystery as to how things got there when they found them! I’d like to think we share quite nicely now. I’m even sharing my house with one of them while he and his wife get acclimated after his recent deployment with the ARMY. Sharing is caring!

Share me! Oh, dear, I deal with the sharing dilemma daily since I’m raising two little ones. It’s such a triumph when I “catch” them sharing something without being prompted. I had 3 big brothers growing up, so I know it’s tough, but it is the best when you end up with awesome people who think about others.

When I was growing up, I shared a telephone line with my younger brother. I hate to admit it, but we both listened in to each other’s calls on occasion. I became quite skilled at using Scotch tape on the “hang up” button to keep my spying secret (** it masked the sound of the receiver lifting**). Nothing scandalous really, but it led to some pretty epic arguments when one of us got caught.

When I was in college, I lived in a dorm full of engineers. One winter, when a huge snow fell, we all ran outside and immediately started building ourselves a wonderful snowman who was 10-feet-tall. Of course, we were more concerned with the functional side of things, so while our snowman was proud do be so tall, it was…not pretty. Next to our dorm was another dorm full of artists. Naturally, they had to try to best us. They made three near-flawless spheres of snow that, if stacked, would have also been 10 feet high. Fortunately for us, they failed to stack the spheres, and we won.
Just think what we could have accomplished together!

My sharing story – my sister and I had to share a bathroom like most siblings do, although this story takes place when I was 18 and she was 23. Our bathroom was one of those where the sinks were in the front room and the toilet and shower were in a tiny back room. I was running myself a shower, about to hop in when my sister swings in cause she has to pee. I freak out, not wanting her to see all my special no-no places and go to hop in the shower, only to slip – fall back wards and land with my legs spread eagle in her face, while she sat on the pot peeing. We both just sat/laid there laughing hysterically until she helped me up. We still laugh about it! So much for her not seeing my lady bidness.

Share me!!! We are in the process of moving to our new home. It has the ‘community’ type mailboxes. (I have never had one before)..Before my husband left to go back to tie up the ends on the old house, the pup and I stayed in the new house- I went to get the mail..The key would Not work- I went to the post office (after looking it up on mapquest). The teller could not help-so,,I left a nasty note in the outgoing box for the carrier to call me when he was delivering,so I could find out what the problem was! My husband showed me the wrong series of boxes!

SHARE ME! My daughter (2.5) is in the process of learning how to share. Today, she got some jellybeans from an Easter event we took her to. The whole ride home she told me they were her jelly beans and she didn’t want to share them. I told her it was okay, that she didn’t have to share everything and the jellybeans were hers. A little later in the day, she came up to me with one of the jellybeans in her hands and said, “it’s okay mama, I share one with you.” It just melted my heart!

When my daughters were little they shared a room. I’m dating myself, but they were like Felix and Oscar from The Odd Couple: you could almost draw a line across their room between the neat side and the messy side (now that they are adults though, my once messy daughter is now as tidy as her sis).
