Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! When my sister and I were teens, we had to share a king size waterbed in our basement bedroom! When our friends spent the night, we could fit 5 girls in the bed sleeping sideways! Fun times!

I had to share a room in a hotel when my youth group traveled to Brazil. None of us could figure out why there were two toilets in one bathroom until we flushed the second one and found out it was a bidet! The water sprayed to the ceiling!

The word “Share” is said a lot in our home since I have four little girls- two of which are twins. The twins are learning from a very young age that they need to share. However,I found to elevate some of the fights it is better to have two dolly strollers, two dolls, two blankies (or more), etc.- that’s helping a bit.

SHARE ME! Our two-year-old shared her “lambie” with me this weekend— pregnant with no. 2 and was feeling quite ill, and she sweetly brought it to me so I would feel better.

Share ME! I grew up very poor and recall one winter where my sister and I had to share a winter jacket. We laugh now but we both swear that because of our upbringing we have an addiction to CHEAP! My sister can find the best things second hand.

“Share Me”. When growing up in a house with 5 siblings and one small bathroom it was a fight on who would get their shower first and get the hot water. To alleviate a ton of fights, my Dad would have to time us (5 minute shower for boys, 6 minute shower for girls) So we all would get enough hot water. To this day, my husband always comments on how quick my showers are.

SHARE ME! When I was in 7th grade my classmate’s cousin came to live with his family for a year (from California). She was my new best friend, Pia. When she left after that year I was devastated. For the next 10 years we shared stories and memories by writing letters to each other. Sure, they got to be less frequent as time went on, but when I finally got on Facebook we re-connected after another 10 years! We still share memories with each other and our baby girls share birthday months. :)

SHARE ME! One summer when I was a kid, we drove the length of the East Coast with some close family friends, all packed into their blue Volvo station wagon (remember those?). :) It was a hoot, but imagine a pile of kids sharing that little space for that long… Our moms must have had the patience of saints!

My husband, Son (3 years old at the time) and I shared a two week vacation to Germany with my Mother-in-Law! We were there to reunite with the siblings she had left behind when she came to America with her new serviceman husband and two very young children (one of which was my husband). Well, they turned out to be Nudist’s!!! Needless to say, they shared more than we ever anticipated!!!!

My younger sister used to “borrow” my clothes when we were teenagers. I never knew that she did it until I happened to look at her school yearbook and noticed that all of the candid shots of her were in my clothes!

Whenever I go back home to visit my family my husband and I always share my old twin bed (even though there are 2 side by side.) Not sure how great that’s gonna work out next time since I’m 7 months pregnant now and my husband is over 6 ft tall.

Share Me – My daughter “B” is an only child (8 years old); her closest kid relative is my niece (also “B”) who is six years older (13 years old). I worried when they were younger about sharing, but hoped it wouldn’t be an issue due to the difference in ages. Luckily, I was right but for a completely different reason.
My daughter wanted to play with everything her Big Cousin touched, and my niece was incredibly generous. She was the person who really taught my daughter to share. She explained patiently so many times to my daughter about taking turns, and being fair. Not one time have I bought something for my niece without her asking “What about B? Let’s get her one too.”
I realized not too long ago that my niece’s example has been followed when my daughter was explaining to a younger child at daycare how to take turns, and be fair. B used the same words her Big Cousin used. All I could think was “Aw”. I love my girls.

My boyfriend and I had just moved into our new place and didn’t have a washer/dryer yet. On the 3rd day I saw him using my bath towel as his own, when I said something he said “No..this is my towel, I’ve been using it since we moved in.” Yeah..we had been using the same towel for 3 days. Ick.

I’d say my best sharing story was when I was a kid and had to share the back seat with my sister when we drove 4 hours from Ohio to Buffalo with my folks to visit my grandparents.
That was back in the day of children should be seen and not heard. So we had to behave OR ELSE.
My sister is 4 1/2 years younger than me, so I suppose I had a bit of an advantage.
We’d be in the back seat and I’d “fall asleep”…or at least pretend to. But she was little and didn’t know the difference.
So I would proceed to take over the entire back seat, stretching out and lying down “in my sleep” until she had only a tiny sliver of the back seat squeezed against the door. She would be annoyed, but couldn’t say a word, since we were being perfectly well behaved!
We laugh about it now… :)

SHARE ME! When I was a kid, times were tough. My mom got me a “new” jacket at the Goodwill. I really liked it, but one morning at school an older student said, “I used to have a jacket just like that! Where’d you get it?”

My most memorable sharing moment is from my first visit to Malawi, Africa. We stayed in a outdoor hostel with huts and tents and the like. We shared an outdoor bathroom with 20 other guests from all over the world. The best was that the shower I was taking was right next to the stall of someone doing some more serious business… :)

This morning I put my good coffee travel mug on top of my car while I put my boys in their car seats and lugged all of our bags to the car. I’m sure you’ve already gone there but yep, I drove off with the coffee on the top of my car and it fell off. I didn’t realize for awhile and couldn’t find it when I backtracked. I loved that mug! :(

Share me! Working at a college is always interesting, the information that gets shared with me (AKA over sharing) from my amazing students never fails to crack me up. There are just some things about your life you shouldn’t share with a college administrator…or anyone for that matter!

SHARE ME! When my daughters were 5 and 8 and still in the throes of one of the most impressive cases of sibling rivalry, they wanted money for the ice cream truck. I gave them a $5 bill to share and instead of sharing it, they began arguing over who would hold the money. Being the good, peace-encouraging mommy that I am, I realized the only way to resolve the matter was to give them their own respective bill to hold. So I got the $5 back, ripped it, and gave them each half. I then went out and hurriedly bought myself some ice cream while they sat their with stunned faces and missed their opportunity for a frozen treat.
