Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME!!! my brothers and i shared a bathroom and i used to have my oldest brother wake me up when he was getting ready to shower and i would then sleep on the floor in the hallway outside the bathroom door so no one could jump in ahead of me… he’d kick me on his way out to wake me up indicating it was my turn!

My sister and I are close in age and were the exact same size in high school. We stole each others clothes all the time and one time my sis threw a high heeled white pump at my head for borrowing them. It didn’t hit me, but it’s funny to think of now.

After going into (painful back) labor we drove to the hospital. I was having very strong contractions and was wheelchaired in. Before they could get me to a room I had to check in. And before I could check in I had to wait for this couple ahead of us to finish up. It must have been a scheduled csection/induction (honeymoon?) Because they we taking their time, laughing with the nurses, kissing… all the while he I am doubled oven in pain in a wheel chair. There was literaly nothing for us to do but look at eachother and laugh. It was funny and out of our hands and a great starting point for the rest of our lives as parents.

The time I shared a bed with my best friend during a group vacation. She snored like a bear and I apparently slept walk throughout our room scaring her to death. So many funny memories.

I’ve never had to share a room with someone until I got to college. My roommate was very neat and had only a few things, I on the other hand had an overflowing closet and just stuff everywhere. I’m sure it was a lot more difficult for her than for me.

I am really bad at sharing, even with my husband. I don’t know why, but I still get so possessive over things. Yet another thing to work on…

When my sister and I were younger, she always wanted my dolls (no matter if she had her very own brand spankin’ new one) and I was NOT a fan of sharing my toys. We got into so many fights but now, twenty years later, we share just about everything we can. Luckily, we wear the same size clothes and shoes, so our wardrobes essentially doubled! Love having a sister now even though we did not like it when we were younger!

I have 3 younger sisters so the sharing was endless… sharing a room, sharing toys, and “sharing” eachothers clothes (that last type of sharing gave me the tiny scar I have above my left eye). Ah sisters ;)

SHARE ME – Sharing a bed with my sister one summer when we were younger. She would steal the covers and tell me to scoot over when I was on the very edge of the bed. It was rough.

my father is in the military and we moved around a lot. He just finished his 3rd tour in Afganistan (with no injuries, except the big scrape he got on his leg, during his second tour, from playing dodgeball in the sand. silly men). When his unit got home from the second deployment, there were 2 soldiers hanging out on the field after all the other families had left. My mom, dad and I went to talk to them and found that they had no where to go that night because the room in the barracks they had, had been given to other soldiers (overcrowding sucks), and their families couldnt make it to see them. We invited them home with us on our first night back together as a family and they stayed with us until they were able to make other arrangements. I slept on the sofa so they could take turns having some privacy, which they hadnt had in quite a while. We got to know them really well and it was the most rewarding feeling. Especially the morning after when we made a huge breakfast. They hadnt had a home cooked meal in a year. They’re still very close friends of our family :)

This might seem gross, but when I was in high school my whole basketball team shared deodorant! It didn’t (and still doesn’t) seem gross to me, but I have a feeling most people consider it a no-no in the hygiene department! :)

I am a nanny to three girls. Today was free ice cream day at a big national ice cream store chain. I took the girls on a surprise stop to enjoy free ice cream for all. We spent a cold and snowy Colorado April day sharing and taste-testing each other’s ice cream cones in the car with the heat on high in the parking lot. Best day ever.

When I first moved to NYC, I lived in an apartment with 3 other roommates, which soon turned into 4 or 5 other roommates when you included boyfriends/girlfriends, and other friends staying over all the time. Oh, we had 2 cats also, so talk about sharing a space. The living room got reconfigured about 3 times in that year to make everyone happy, the bathroom was a danger zone, and the kitchen radiator smelled like burning rubber if it was turned on. I am so glad not to share an apartment with that many people anymore, and certainly think I’ve paid my roommate dues!

I just got back from a vacation for 4 of my best girl friends and we went on a cruise. It turns out 5 girls sharing one tiny cruise for 5 days is a tough situation indeed! I’ll be honest, I was glad to get home and only have to share an entire apartment with one of them.

Today I was going through my daughter’s closet preparing for spring/summer and weeding out that which she grew (like a weed) out of and came across her favorite self-termed “teenager shorts” (groan – she’s six). But, it reminded me of the year I wore (out) a pair of red, satin “Leather Tuskadaro” shorts when I was 7. (This will only make sense if you were a huge Happy Days fan as I clearly was.). Despite her shorts being too small I’m giving into her pleas to save them in the name of ” Wow! Where did all those years go?” and in fondness of my red, satin shorts memory…and of Leather.

SHARE ME! There are eight kids my family so I pretty much always shared a bedroom. My younger sister was definitely messier than me so I got very frustrated when we had to share a room. When I was about 12, I got so tired of her messes that I took masking tape and put it on the floor right down the middle of the room. Then my half clean stayed cleaner, and I just shoved her stuff back over to her side if I needed to.

Share me! Growing up as 5 of 6 kids we sure shared a lot (or fought a lot ;), but nothing beats the time my “frugal” (we kids say cheap ;) dad bought us one happy meal to share! He reasoned that we’d be home in an hour and this could tide us over till then. We were starving! But we all laugh at it now. :)

My mom makes the best enchiladas you’ve ever tasted. The first time my (now husband) came over to my parents house, she made enchiladas for dinner. I ate them so fast, my plate was literally still steaming from how hot they were and how fast I ate. 15 years later, my husband and family still call me “Steamy Ros” …oy. Food lovers unite!

I didn’t know it at the time, but I had double pneumonia the week of my sister’s wedding (shower, rehearsal, wedding, the whole 9 yards). I troopered through it, but the day after I passed out carrying my then 3-year-old through some snowdrifts (thank goodness for the snowdrifts or I’d have dropped him on the hard ground instead of the fluffy snow). Following this I was taken to the hospital to recover, and that’s when I found out I had pneumonia.

My 4 & 2 yr old (almost 5 & 3 – if that helps me sound like a better mom in this story!) boys were begging try chewing gum while I was on the phone w/ their dr office. I had one stick of gum left that they pulled out of my bag. I whispered for them to share it. Instead of tearing it in half, they took turns chewing it. Ack!

Share me! We had 8 girls living in one house in college and 6 of us shared one bathroom. It wasn’t uncommon to have someone in the shower and someone using the sink/toilet/mirror at the same time. We’d never get anywhere if we didn’t!

SHARE ME! It never fails, when I watch TV under a blanket someone is going to ask me to share. Usually the request is made by a four-legged family member, but I don’t mind. Cuddling under a blanket is some of the best sharing I know.

My 2 sisters and I are close in age, and we all shared the same car in high school. My mom’s old minivan. Except, they were too embarrassed to be seen in a “dorky” minivan, so they took the bus while I parked in the school lot. It took them years to realize how silly it was.
