Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

When we were growing up, we had to share EVERYTHING! Our house was 3 bedroom, 1.5 baths and there were 6 of us! Yea, girls shared their room and boys shared theirs! And getting ready for school in the morning… that bathroom was shared (and fought over) like you wouldn’t believe! Let’s just say we are a close family! lol.

…how did you know I once had to share a room with my boss on a business trip? Not just a room, a bed! Seeing each other in pajamas, brushing teeth, ironing work clothes, I’m still wincing at the memory.

My sharing story:
Like most devoted pet owners, I find that if my 2 housecats decide they want to bunk with me for the night, I often wind up almost clinging to a tiny “cliff’s edge” of the queen-size mattress while they sprawl out over the center of the bed to their hearts’ content…. Sometimes I come to my senses and think to myself, “Wait a minute! I’m the one who has to get up and go to work in the morning (LOL)” and reclaim my share of the bed. Other times, I let the cats do as they please because they’re just so darned cuuuuuute! :)

Every year on Christmas Eve, my husband and I like to grab dinner at a local restaurant and leave a sneaky $100 or larger tip to share the blessings we’ve received throughout the year with someone who may not be as fortunate. It’s the most amazing feeling walking out of there feeling like we’ve gotten away with something, but in the best kind of way.

I am not a parent, but I do live with two cats and a dog. I am continually trying to teach them how to share a bed with me. There is plenty of bed and they are little, but the consensus seems to be that he who sleeps nearest my face sleeps best. I often wake up with a paw on my eye or dog drooling in my armpit. It’s really sexy.

I recently fostered a dog from our rescue where we adopted our gorgeous dog Sasha. This fostered dog was so sweet and well behaved and my girl got very jealous! It was very hard for me to share my cuddle time with the both of them, but somehow, with many dog kisses, I managed!!! (it actually wasn’t that hard!)

When I was a kid, my brother and I weren’t sharing very well, he started to yell at me and in order to not get in trouble I told him to push me to get even… well he did and I fell and broke my arm!! Trust me, we both learned our lesson in sharing!!! LOL

Growing up with 3 sisters in 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house, we learned to share at a young age!
On a side note, I was watching Friends earlier today, and the episode that was on was the one where Joey doesn’t share his food. Made me laugh :)

In college, we had community baths in the dorms… and while taking a shower one night, I totally got ambushed with water balloons, and had my towel (which was hanging outside the shower) replaced with a “got crabs?” shirt from Joe’s Crab Shack. Good times.

My husband and I shared a tiny one-bedroom apartment when we first got married 14 years ago. One day, when taking one of our newly-wed showers together, I got soap in my eyes (and I was the furthest away from the single shower-head). So in my haste to get to the water, I ended up pushing him completely out of the shower. After I opened my eyes I noticed my husband, the shower curtain, and the tension rod were all in a heap on the floor! I laughed till I cried!

So, my husband is allergic to milk protein, an allergy that has developed over time (his favorite food in high school was lasagna – So sad). On long road trips (of which we take many) we sometimes grab a foot long sandwich and share it, ordering one half with cheese(for me) and the other half with none. Well, on one of these road trips I neglected to check on which side the cheese was located and just handed him a half. While he was eating it he kept saying things like, “Wow, this tastes great!” or “This is really, really good. I haven’t had a sandwich this good in a while. What kind did we order, again?”. After a few more comments like this, both he and I realized my mistake… the next few hours I had to drive as my poor husband was trying to not lose his lunch, er, lose his incredibly tasty cheese-tainted sandwich. Oops.

Share me! Hmm – I shared a lot with my twin growing up. Sharing a birthday was the best but sharing the cake had to be the worst. Half-cat half-horsy frosting art, please.

All growing up, my three sisters and I shared one very small bedroom. Two of us slept in bunkbeds and the other two had a double bed. We had two dressers in our room and we each got 3 drawers. Fortunately, our closet ran the entire length of one side of the room. So we split it into quarters and the rack, the shelf above and the floor below was where everything that we owned was kept. Sometimes sharing a room with 3 other girls was really fun, but it was definitely a trial at other times!
Pick me!!!! :)

my husband and i both grew up with only one bathroom for our entire family (and his has five kids). when we bought our first house (3 months ago!!), my husband and i ended up with a place that has THREE whole toilets. we immediately celebrated by having three different people use the bathroom at the same time. and call each other on cell phones in the process.
was that overshare?

I decided to do sneaky birthday shopping with my 3 year old (whose birthday it was) in tow..my 5 year old saw the doll I had picked out on the bottom of the cart and I promptly let her know that if she spoiled the surprise for her sister we would have problems…shortly thereafter she was sure to share with the birthday girl that “that doll down there isn’t for you…you know..just so you know…” duuuude. :(

My sister and I are a year apart, so growing up, we always shared clothes. It was fine until she went to college and would hide our “shared” clothes in her laundry basket so I couldn’t find them. It went from “sharing” to “stealing” really quick! :)

SHARE ME! I teach at an all boys school. One year when I was teaching first grade, one student’s grandmother had passed away and he was drawing a picture of her. Another boy asked what he was drawing and he said my grandmother she died. After careful consideration his friend said, “Well you can share mine… She is really nice and I have two anyway.”. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. It wasa beautiful moment.

I have the sweetest nieces and nephews. On Valentine’s Day they brought all their stuff home from school (I was babysitting) and they showed me all the candy and cards they received. I told them how yummy the candy looked and my 7 year old niece came over with a little heart shaped sucker and said, “Aunt Sari, you should have this because I love you with my heart and it looks like this sucker.” Still makes me smile. :)
