Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I’ll tell you about when I have learned to stop sharing. With each of our three children, I seem to be the designated ice cream or other treat sharer when they are babies. It starts innocently enough with a spoon here and there. Somehow it morphs seemingly overnight into them eating my entire portion! When mommy doesn’t get enough of her own treat, she gets cranky…and that is the end of my sharing, for everyone’s sake. ;0)

I had to share a bathroom with my younger brothers. My job was to keep the bathroom clean. You can probably imagine how disgusting that was as the boys enjoyed having peeing contests that involved trying to hit the ceiling.

My best friend and I love to each order a dish we both want to try and then we share. It works great for us undecisive people and lets us try more things at restaurants. My husband thinks this is the worst idea ever. When he wants to be super sweet on a random occasion, he does this with me. It is a great way for him to earn brownie points.

One of the hardest things to adjust to after getting married was learning how to share a bed with someone. I remember sleeping so lightly, afraid that I would snore or kick my husband! After seven years, I have no problems sharing the bed now, thankfully!

SHARE ME!!! I once shared a dorm room with a creepy girl who soon adopted many of my getting-ready rituals. So glad to be out of there…and I would love to win this to decorate my new home with my fiance :) (once we finally find one!)

Share Me! My last year of college I begged, pleaded, and kissed major butt to get my dream internship which turned out to be amazing…However, on my first day we hopped in a car drove 4 1/2 hours away to our state’s capitol and I spent the first two weeks of my internship living with my boss and her husband. Very awkward for me, but they were so gracious and I had some amazing experiences during that time like my first $100 steak, lunch in a private penthouse club most days, and dinner cocktails with some of the most powerful people in my line of work and in the country. It was pure bliss for a little country girl.

Sharing in my home was hard growing up! Especially with 3 sisters..I was the baby so me getting to use the bathroom before the other 3 was nearly impossible! We did share though..I remember my mom buying me a large bag of skittles so I ate all the orange and green ones first so I can enjoy eating the red and purple ones last, they were my favorite….once I had succeeded in eating the non-favorite ones. My 3sisters demanded a share of the skittles!! I refused but my mother said SHARE! After all my hard work my sisters got to enjoy my favorite skittles and I learned to enjoy what I have first THEN offer the rest lol!!!!!

When I moved in with my (now) husband, I had a complete melt down when I had to find room in (what was) his closet for my clothes and realized that I could no longer have a whole drawer in the bathroom just for hair ties.

Freshman year of college, I had two roommates. I would always be the first to bed since I was getting up early for practice in the morning. Apparently I do many wacky things in my sleep – like sit straight up, sleep talk, sing, make weird claws with my hands – which my roommates found out as they’d come back into our room or do some work!

My husband *his job involves traveling internationally & domestically every four months* and our daughter “shared” Saturdays when she was little. Starting with daddy sharing his grapefruit, sharing the MAGICAL drive through car wash, sharing going to the park, sharing story time, etc. It was a beautiful, sharing, daddy/daughter day!

I had a date with a guy I really liked, and my little brother knew I really liked him, so when this guy came to pick me up my brother met him in the front yard and told him all about how “hot” I thought he was. I was slightly mortified.

Growing up my sister and I shared the downstairs bathroom. We would always race each other to get into the bathroom first, and my big sister normally won. Except once – I was racing to lock her out, and couldn’t figure out why she wasn’t following me. Turns out, mom had just finished mopping the floors and my sister conveniently forgot to tell me. I wiped out halfway down the hallway and slid the entire way into the bathroom. At least I won!

Growing up, I always wanted to have a sister… my older brothers always did everything together, and often times their activities were strictly “no girls alllowed!” They told me I was actually lucky, because I didn’t have to share a room or share my toys with anyone. Not having any sisters really did make me become so close with my mom– I wouldn’t change that for the world!– but when I have my own kids, I definitely want to have at least TWO girls, so they can have that amazing sisterly experiences that I didn’t have. :)

A few months ago my husband and I decided to start a work-out regimen. After putting the kids to bed, we headed to our family room to start the workout, but decided to take “before” pictures. To get a good “before” shot, my husband and I both took our shirts off (I was wearing a sports bra). Just as we were about to start snapping away, my son came out of his room to use the bathroom. He asked what we were doing and my husband told him we were exercising.
The next day at pre-k pickup, my son’s teacher pulled me aside and informed me (with a raised eyebrow) that our son told the whole class during circle time that his Mommy and Daddy like to exercise naked together after he goes to bed. I was mortified!

Back in my sophomore year of high school, I was dating a kid whose parents had a boat. They liked to take day trips up to a lake in WI (we’re from Chicagoland) to use it. For the first time, I was invited to go. I put my bikini on under my clothes before we went so once we got on the boat I could just strip down and be ready. When we got to a sandbar and the stripping part, I realized I had put my bottoms on wrong. You know: a leg in the waist hole and waist in a leg hole. I am not sure how I didn’t catch it when I got dressed, but I was horrified when I discovered my predicament. I hurriedly got in the water, waded as far away from the boat as possible without seeming like I was trying to escape and quickly took my bottoms off underwater and readjusted them. To this day, I always double check my bikini bottoms!
Katie Rose says
I just realized it was suppose to be a story about sharing…whoops! Let’s just say I was just sharing too much skin that day :)

When my brother was little (probably too little to be eating chocolate) my mom would break off the tips of her hershey kisses and give them to him. He sincerely believed that Kisses were meant to be shared this way until he hit middle school.

When my DH & I were first dating, we went on a trip with my extended family. We ended up sharing a room with bunk beds my Parents & Brother. DH & I slept in the top bunk and my Parents slept in the bottom bunk. My brother had the floor. Everytime DH & I would move to try to get comfortable, by Dad would yell, “Hey! What’s going on up there?!”
Now that I think of it, this sharing story was probably a lot more harrowing for DH! :)
