Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

hmm… sharing spaces is tough. It is a constant battle sharing a bedroom with my boyfriend – but we make it work!

SHARE ME my precious closet space in my studio apartment, with my husband(then boyfriend)when we moved in together. A lesson in sharing for sure :)

Let’s see. The story that comes to mind is from when I was really little (forever memorialized on video). It was Christmas morning, and my big sister was “helping” me go through my stocking. As she realized that she kind of liked a lot of my stuff, she very loudly proclaimed, “we’re gonna SHARE!”
She has never, and will never live it down.

How’s this one…..we recently found out we are pregnant with a VERY surprise #3 – the day before hubby was scheduled to get, um, snipped. Ahem. Shock does not describe it…..

SHARE ME! So glad I don’t have to share hotel rooms with co-workers. Less than ideal experiences from a past job!

Growing up we had 1 bathroom. 1 toilet, 1 sink, 1 shower. We got used to a lack of privacy while tending to any “personal” needs. Morning rituals regularly had all 4 of us in the tiny space at the same time. Fortunately when I was in high school my dad renovated the basement and added a second full bathroom downstairs.

My husband and I once shared our 3 bedroom, 1500 square foot home with my sister and her husband, plus their not-quite 2 year old and a newborn! It was only for 2 weeks, and it was actually a lot of fun!

My favorite “sharing” story is the time I shared a hotel room with my husband’s mom, dad, brother, sister and cousin. Yes, six people in a very small, two bed hotel room in Kentucky. We were there to watch my husband graduate from Basic Training and we ended up spending the whole night sharing poo and fart stories! Yep, that’s the family I married into and I love it!

Boyfriend and I moved in together – so we’re both learning how to share the space, especially the covers (the dog steals most of them). We’re pretty awesome at sharing chores though, so at least that stress has been negotiated!
Sarah says
Share me! When we were kids, I tried to “share” a piece of my sister’s steak right off her plate at dinner one night. She wasn’t quite as good a sharer (as evidenced by the prong marks on my nose after she stabbed me with her fork). :)

Share me! My sister and I shared a room until we I was about 7 and she was 9. When we got our own rooms she continued to come to mine because she didn’t want to sleep alone. I was annoyed at the time but looking back it’s pretty cute!
Karin says
Share me!! Any girl that shared a room with her sister knows how tough sharing can be! Especially when she wears the same outfit as you on school picture day. The green plaid shirt will go down in history.

My sisters and I always had to share one bathroom and it was nearly impossible! No hot water, not enough time, and no privacy. It was dreadful.

Ok, here goes:
I’ve never been the Grand Canyon. My family took a trip out West to see the GC and various other desert attractions and towns. However, our trip coincided with a convict on the run who decided to hold a family hostage inside the park! The park was closed for days, so we never got in. Of course, this event was MUCH more harrowing for those poor people inside the park, but as a 7 year old, I was crushed.
True story. 21 years later, still haven’t made it to the Grand Canyon.

Omg, didn’t even fully read the prompt. I was just sharing ANY story.

Oh well, it’s a story about how I “shared” my vacation with a crazy person?
Amber says
Share me, please! In the third grade I made the mistake of NOT sharing the “laughing” gas from a helium filled balloon with my little brother. I sucked in the helium until…the room started to spin and then I passed out! I learned my lesson and I always share now!

SHARE ME! I’m an identical twin, and I get “that’s so cool!” allll the time! And you know what? It is! NOW! My sister and I had a horrible relationship as kids, and we had to share e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. My grandma even gave us a gift basket and told us to share everything, and there was only ONE pack of underwear! No, we didn’t share them… but that’s one of the few times we got out of it. Now that we’re adults, with our own separate lives, we’re great… but it wasn’t always like this!

Share Me! I had to share a room with my boyfriend’s sister and her husband when we were on an out of town trip, I woke up around 6 a.m. with my now brother in law staring at me laughing. Apparently I’d been talking LOUDLY in my sleep :) Good thing I married into the family so I can be reminded of it! :)

Last week my husband and I were eating at a local brewery on a busy night and another couple asked to share our table with us. Ended up having a great time together and the nicest experiences I’ve had talking to new people. We ended up making some new friends that we plan on seeing again soon!

Sharing brownies with my husband is quite the task. The man has a SA-WEEET TOOTH, and I’m lucky to get more than one if I make a batch for just the TWO of us! I made a batch last night, and suggested he take 3 into work, one for each of his co-workers so that we (he) didn’t eat an entire pan. Three brownies, no biggy, right? WRONG! He flat out refused to share with them!

SHARE ME.. Growing up, I had to share a room with my sister. Sadly for her, I snore loud enough to wake the neighbors. She slept on the couch for years and years. No my boyfirend gets to live with it! Haha.. poor guy!

I remember the first road trip where my brother & I did not have to share the back seat. I thought our mini-van was palatial. We no longer fought about sharing the seat but instead we fought over who got the back (bigger!) seat. It was always something!

My sister (who is 5 years younger than me) and I went on a family vacation one year to California. Our parents took us through one of those tourist traps on Hwy 101- something having to do with Lord of the Rings I think. You walked along a trail and would push buttons to hear about the different things that were staged along the way. My mom told us we had to take turns pushing the buttons- but because I was older (and faster)- I beat my sister to all the buttons and pushed them all first. She was so mad- I STILL hear about it to this day about how I never let her push the buttons. HA!

“SHARE ME” I remember my sister babysitting me when I was 10. I pretended to be dead on the floor and she cried for hours until my mom came home… I thought it was funny back then I guess. Now I do nice things after 20 years :)

MY sister and I are 7 years apart (she’s younger) and we shared a room for about 4 years, from the time I was 11 to about 15. I hated when I had friends over, and she would come in to hang out with us, I would tell her to get out, and she would say “but it’s my room too!”. UGH!!!! So then our Mom had to explain that yes, it is in fact her room too, but she couldn’t disturb my friend and I just because she wanted to.
Glad that was a short lived experience :)

We have two headstrong boys. They were fighting over an angel christmas decoration one night that their great-grandmother gave them. It glowed with little LED lights in it. Little brother is the worst at sharing…but eventually gave up and shared it…with big brother’s face. So. Much. Blood. An ER trip followed.

SHARE ME… somehow I got most of the way through childhood without realizing how bad my dad’s snoring was. Until, when I was in high school, my sister and I split a room with him on a long ski weekend! She ended up trying to sleep with about 4 pillows on her head – and I slept in the bathtub. We didn’t have the heart to tell him why we were so tired that weekend! :)

Share me! My story is about my horrible roommate that I am currently sharing space with… I don’t think this spoiled girl has ever heard the concept of CLEANING! I am currently showering at my gym because I am sick of being the only one who cleans our shower. I move out in three weeks and would LOVE to spiff up my new place with Joss & Main products!
