Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

And my bonus entry…
When my husband and I had only been dating 4 or 5 months, we took a trip with his family to his brother’s law school graduation. Our first night, Daniel and and I shared a room with his parents. We thought it was a suite with a room divider, but alas, when we got there, it was two queen beds and a sofa bed. So I slept in one bed, Daniel on the sofabed, and his parents in the other bed. I was in the middle and man oh man was it awkward! Not only did we all see each other in our jammies, but all three people snored like bears all night and I barely slept at all. Quite an adventure!

I would say I’m a very good sharer… except when it comes to food. I tell my fiance that “What’s mine is mine, and What’s his is mine…”

I am currently “sharing” a cold with my kiddo. Since she’s been around (almost 2 years) my husband and I have “shared” so many illnesses with her. This is one area of sharing I could do without.

Before I was married I spent a whole week sharing hotel rooms with my future mother in law and my now husband traveling around Turkey. It was awkward but worth it for a great trip!

The Boyfriend and I “share” and iPad. I use the scare quotes because he bought it and I consider it to be his, but he willingly hands it over when I need it (like for a work conference) or want to play SimCity. So, sharing, in this case, is me getting to use what isn’t mine and loving the sharer all the more for it.

I used to share a bed with my sister, who is 8 years older than me. I remember thinking it was so funny to constantly give her wet willys in her sleep. Not long after we got bunk beds. :)

On my very first date with my now husband I automatically assumed he would want to share his plate of pasta with me. As I reached across the table with my fork to snag a bite, I quickly learned it would take a while for that man to “learn to share” his meal with me……or maybe I just needed to brush up on my sharing manners and ask him to share with me!!

My kiddos share a room and it’s the best decision we ever made. They are really close–not all the time but still, they show the love!

“Share Me!” My husband and I find that we now have to “share” our bed, because our daughter refuses to sleep in her new big girl bed!! So once she knows were asleep she climbs in our bed in the middle of the night and usually ends up stealing the pillows and blanket, and about half of our queen size bed, and shes only 4! How such a tiny little girl takes up so much space I’ll never understand!

Share me. I had two sisters growing up. We shared a 1972 Ford Pinto. Nothing like having an egg on wheels, but happy to have them. It may not be always what you want, but beats being without. I learned small steps to get where you want. Twenty years later I drive a hybrid, that is small like the Pinto. Full circle in life.

share me! I can share pretty much any food with my husband, french fries, sandwiches, salads, but not ice cream. That would be gross. And also, I don’t share ice cream.

I had a family with 4 kids growing up so we shared a lot! Including a bathroom- all 4 of us. We each had our own drawer. Not sure how we did it (or why none of us used the perfectly fine guest bathroom!).

SHARE ME! Rather than sharing a bedroom with me, my sister opted to have her bedroom in a room the size of a generous walk-in closet… I think I won that one :-)

When I was six, I wanted everything my older sister had and she would never share. In particular, she had a beautiful red patent leather purse that I longed for every day. One day, I decided to steal it when she was gone. By the time she came home I was so overcome with guilt that the second she walked through the door I ran up to her and said “I don’t know where yuw puwse is” (your purse). We still joke about it to this day whenever we swipe something from each other!

SHARE ME! My partner and I newly have a teenager who has moved in with us, and WOW have the food-sharing dynamics shifted! Long gone is the day I left a leftover … any kind of leftover at all … in the fridge and then found it again the next day! Most surprisingly, our microwave recently went kaput and we were without a way to heat up most of our leftovers for two weeks and nope, it didn’t matter. HE ATE COLD MASHED POTATOES. Cold shish kabob left overs with cold rice. Cold whatever. It was mindblowing!!!

Some family friend’s had twins, and they were having trouble wanting the same things. They tried to teach them to share, but ended up with 2 2-year-olds yelling “SHARE! SHARE!” while trying to pull toys away from each other.

My sisters and I (all 3 of us) are ~18months apart. As a result, we were forced to share everything. By the time we all were in high school we were all the same size which made for some dramatic hair-pulling brawls for clothes especially. Sadly enough, not much has changed since we got older, we still fight about clothes and steal it from each other now that we are all 30 somethings. It’s just harder since we no longer all share the same room and live in different states.

When I was a kid my sister and I shared a bedroom by choice. We each had our own, but we moved both our beds into one room so we could use the other room as a Barbie village. We were close in age and very, very into Barbies.

One of my favorite stories was when my little sister was born. With two older brothers already, I was aching for a baby sister. On the first day of kindergarten I woke up to find my neighbor sleeping on the couch. She told me my parents had gone to the hospital to have the baby. Right before I left for school, my dad called me to let me know that I had a little sister! I was so excited! One of the best days of my life!
