Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I just got back from a week in Ohio for my great-grandmother’s funeral. While I was out there, I got to see all of the amazing paintings that she did while she was alive. She didn’t start until she was in her sixties, but she was incredibly prolific once she got going. She was still making gorgeous works of art at 96 (even though she was mostly blind), and two of them are now mine. She was an incredibly inspirational woman who touched so many people with her talent :)

SHARE ME! I went on a Church Retreat this past Fall. I wasn’t expecting our accommodations to be 5-star rated; but I definitely didn’t expect them to cram 4 people (no guarantees on roomies) into a room with 2 Double Beds. Nothing like “sharing” a double size bed with a large, older lady that snores. The worst 2 nights ever! To top it all off, we had some pesky little critters that decided to join the party too – ha! You have to laugh at it now, but was definitely NOT fun at the time :-) I would LOVE to win some cash from Joss & Main to move my home decorating projects along

My sister and I shared a closet between our bedrooms growing up. At first, we refused to share and would try to steal items and return them before the other noticed. Once we figured that sharing would double our wardrobes, we embraced the opportunity!

I was roommates with my best friend. I love her but she is a major slob. I used to try to outwait her in cleaning the bathroom but I could tolerate as much grossness as she could so I always ended up caving and doing it myself. We are still friends. She married a neatnik.

I’ve been trying to teach my 6 month old about the merits of sharing. She might be a bit young, but she is a quick learner- this morning she shared half her breakfast with my shirt. :)

SHARE ME! I went through a drive though to get lunch with my almost three year old daughter. When we got home there was only one straw in the bag. After she used it for awhile she said I could have it. I told her she could keep it because there was only one straw, but she insisted that she wanted me to have it. It was sweet.

i think sharing a room with 6 girls in my college sorority is a tale that shall remain untold. what happens in college stays in college?

Being one of SEVEN kids I had to share everything. I was the youngest of four girls, so I wore all three of my older sisters’ clothes as hand-me-downs. All seven of us shared a bathroom with one sink. My parents hung a full length mirror sideways on one large wall so three or four of us could stand there at the same time, bumping elbows (intentionally!) all the while. We would consume an entire half-gallon of ice cream in a meal. My mom bought the rectangular shaped containers and we sliced it into nine slices. I didn’t have my own bedroom until I was 16, and then couldn’t sleep at night since I felt so alone! Great memories!!!

I grew up with two brothers and we shared everything. It was not uncommon for us to eat off of each others plates, drink out of each others cups, share toys, etc. I remember one time after we came home from eating dinner, that apparently didn’t agree with us, and all of the bathrooms were taken. My younger brother and I shared the TOILET!!! At the time we thought nothing of it :-0 Even today when we get together we still eat off of each others plates.

I was an only child until I was 15 years old. At the time we only lived in a small 2 bedroom home so when my little brother came along I had to share a room with him until we could save enough to move into a bigger house. So basically between the years of 1999 and 2004 I was sharing a room with my brother…so that’s years 15-19 for me and 0-4 for him. Am I a good big sister or what?!

SHARE ME! Some of my fondest childhood memories are of family vacations. Although at the time, we did not think it was funny, my brother, sister and I had to share the back seat of our station wagon. Good times…

SHARE ME! For most of my childhood, I had to share a room with my sister. While, today, we have a great relationship, as a child, I did not appreciate our confined quarters. One night, in fact, I was so fed up with sharing a room that I decided to sleep in the bathtub!

I was hosting dinner for my husband’s board members – who all happened to be college students (it was a higher education lobbying group). I was making a formal dinner, and the meat thermometer didn’t work… and I burned to a crisp a large chateaubriand. Yup, we ended up ordering pizza. The kids loved it anyway, and it turned into a weekly thing.
Still, mortified.

Growing up we lived in a small townhouse, so I had to share a bedroom with my brother, which at the time was hell. One day he was driving me nuts and I locked myself in our room, only to have him grab a screwdriver and take the lock off to get in. Once my dad put it back together, it never fit correctly again and needless to say, he wasn’t terribly happy. Many more ridiculous stories like that happened growing up. Haha

One cruise, I had to share a room with my Dad. Needless to say, that was the least relaxing vacation ever since he has a severe snoring problem!!! I kept waking him up so he would stop so I could eventually sleep!! Neither of us slept very well, and for the next trip we will splurge and get our own rooms!

Share me! At one point growing up, four of the seven kids in my family shared a bedroom with two bunkbeds in it – we called it The Bunkhouse and it was THE place to be!

SHARE ME! I lived in a sorority house in college and shared an average-sized bedroom with three other girls. It was definitely a disaster! Way too many clothes, shoes, and dramatic moments in a 10×12 room. Plus, our entire hall (probably 30 girls) shared a bathroom with four toilet stalls and four showers. You can imagine how mornings went there.
I’m definitely glad to be married and living with only my husband and baby.

remember when beanie babies were popular? when moms (or at least my amazing mom) would spend their lunch hour waiting in line to buy a happy meal just so they could get the “teanie beanie” of the week? well, lets just say that as amazing as my mom was, she wasn’t about to pull double duty eating kids chicken nuggets every week. my brother and I were expected to share every beanie baby that came through the front door. of course, since I was older (and wiser), I was always coming up with reason why they were really “mine.” oh the fights we fought for those bean stuffed babies.

My little puppy (pom-chi) is notoriously bad at sharing. He is constantly snarling and guarding things he even thinks are food from our cats. Not terrible funny except for that he is smaller than them. The only thing he has learned to share is the food bowl. He patiently waits in line behind the cats to get to his food.

I only had a brother growing up so we obviously didn’t share clothes. Once I got to college and had a roommate it felt like my wardrobe quadrupled! Now I live with my fiance and its back to my boring old clothes :( He does share his PJs though which is nice!

SHARE ME!!!! So, growing up I never had to share a room with my three younger brothers. But, one summer my family decided to take in a little girl from Belarus. She would visit our family for the next eight years, every summer and now we consider her our sister.
Anyways, that first summer we shared a bedroom and it was such an interesting experience! I really enjoyed having a sister in my life! But, it did become a bit creepy when she started talking in her sleep in Russian. Kind of nerve wrecking to wake up to!!!
