Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

My brother and I shared some toys growing up – usually the ones meant for boys since he didn’t really like Barbies. Our favorites were the Ninja Turtles. Thankfully, we liked different characters so there was never fighting over who got to play which turtle. I was always Donatello and he was always Leonardo.

Share me! Grew up sharing a bathroom with far too many people, and still have mad skills at the two-minute shower.

My big moment of sharing was when my now husband and I moved in together – I had to share a closet for the very first time. I was the oldest (by 10 years) so I’d avoided sharing a closet for my entire life….but 30 I guess I was finally ready!

on christmas eve when we were little, my brother and i would share a bed. we would get in such arguments about who was on each others side that we created a “wall” of stuffed animals to go down the middle of the bed!

I am soooo not a sharer. Moving in with my Husband was so challenging because I had to learn how to be a good “roommate” all over again! He’s come to understand that there are some times when I just need my alone time.

My best friend lives across the country. I was visiting her a few years ago, and we went to a craft show together. We saw a beautiful unique necklace and both fell in love with it, but the seller only had one. So we bought it, and now we trade the necklace back and forth each time each time we see each other!

My little sister and I used to have to share a bed–a waterbed, no less. There’s nothing worse than a water bed, but to make it better, we used to pretend we were Olympic high divers and jump off the headboard thing and land onto the bed.

I went on a hiking trip with some classmates. 4 girls shared a room with two beds because we were (are) broke. The one girl had really bad gas the whole trip, but would never fess up. She didn’t have a very good sense of humor, either, so we didn’t want to point it out. We opened a window instead, and then all she did was complain about being cold! Oy!

Share me! – Sharing a small sports car with my husband, luggage, and 70 pound puppy who had to sit in the passenger seat with me driving from Alaska to Florida in the winter… which included sharing the car to sleep in while in the Yukon Territory because no hotels are open during the winter. No bueno after the first 10 hours.

During our first year of marriage, my husband and I shared one car. Although my husband was late nearly EVERY morning he had to go to work (sorry, hubby!), I loved our drives to and from work. We chatted and just enjoyed our 15 minute time to ourselves. On our first wedding anniversary, my husband surprised me with a new car (we’d been saving all year). While I thoroughly enjoy our new car, I have to say I miss our albeit brief time together in the mornings and evenings!

In college I had a roommate who would eat my “good” food, like a box of Thin Mints, then replace them with a box of store brand oreos or whatever she found on sale. 10 years later, I still hide my favorite treats from my husband and kids for fear that they will be taken and replaced with something inferior.

Well I had a kind of funny moment just this past weekend. I had been talking with a colleague about starting a Hindi film conversation group and when we were trying to schedule it, we decided to practice even in the emails and type in Hindi. Well, clearly it’s not our first language because when I showed up to her house on the day I thought we had agreed on, she was in the midst of throwing a dinner party for her family and friends (none of whom I knew). Luckily she was super nice about it and even invited me to stay for dinner, but it was so embarrassing at the time.

My pregnant self and my husband are currently sharing our adorable, yet tiny 1 bathroom bungalow with a friend that we thought would move out after a few weeks. We can’t bring ourselves to tell her to leave (she just ended a bad relationship and moved back home with nowhere to go) but it’s certainly getting a bit cramped, especially with my expanding belly!

My first day on a new nannying job in college, the baby’s mom was about to leave for work. I had on a brand new pair of Limited shorts. I bent over to pick up the baby and I hear, “rrrrrrrriiiippppp”. My shorts split in half down the back, everything exposed. The mom let me borrow a pair of mom shorts (tight waist, saggy butt), then gave me a lecture on wearing tight clothes to babysit in. Talk about terrible first impressions. At least it wasn’t in front of the dad!

My sharing story is less sentimental and more disgusting/”what was I thinking?”…my senior year of college I had to move into a frat house with 13 guys – and me – the single girl. My female roommate of the past few years had decided to study abroad, and all of my other female friends had either graduated or already had arrangements. So sharing a bathroom/kitchen/total living space with 13 guys (and another 13 pledges sleeping in our basement each semester) was not exactly the most hygienic year of my life. But the guys all became brothers to me, and were very protective of me so overall it was a great experience. But I will never miss sharing a bathrooms with that many guys!!

SHARE ME! I’m really looking forward to this summer because I’m moving (the not so fun part), but to get there, I’m going to take the Empire Builder Amtrak from Portland to Minneapolis. It’s supposed to be one of the most beautiful routes. I’m really looking forward to relaxing, sight-seeing by train, and enjoying the trip!

SHARE ME!On a recent trip to visit my sister, I accidentally dropped my 6 month old son out of his carseat and onto his head while boarding a plane. Their was a collective gasp while I could hear people in line behind me saying “That lady dropped her baby!!!” It was mortifying. Fortunately, he was fine, but I had 3 different moms come up to me on the flight to make sure my baby was OK. Yikes!
