Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

One of my roommates in grad school stole my food! I was so poor as a grad student and needed every bit I had to confront her about it.

An ex-boyfriend borrowed my toothbrush. All. The. Time. Even after I got him his own. He’d just grab whichever one was closest. Gross.

SHARE ME! I shared a house with friends for nearly decade after I left my parents’ house, and I’ve never had a place that’s just my own. Now, I feel like our house is far more my man’s than mine, and I can’t change the things I dislike most for fear of insulting him.

In 3rd grade, we took a field trip to a local museum. I had $20 to spend in the gift shop, and I thought I was a high-roller. Another girl in my class didn’t have any money, so I gave her a few dollars to spend. My teacher was touched and wrote a sweet note to my parents about it…

From the library of “I can’t believe how far technology has come”…I used to work in recruitment and admissions, meaning several weeks per month on the road. For the first few months of that position, I still had to “check out” a loaner laptop for each trip, since my office didn’t provide one to me. Now all of the people in that position get both laptops and smart phones!

My 2 year old is just stringing together sentences and while waiting for the oil to be changed in our car, shared with the rest of the waiting room, “Daddy tooted!”. Of course he hadn’t and then he spent the next 5 minutes loudly telling her, “No daddy didn’t toot!”.

I have very fond memories of sharing a room with three cousins while my mom and I lived with them when I was very young. Although we had to share twin beds or sleep on the floor, I remember having such a great time and laughing so much! :)

Sharing just reminds me of long car rides! I have 2 sisters plus myself so I’m sure car rides with 3 girls were a blast for my parents. It got to the point everytime that we had to pull over and my mom had to draw imaginary lines down the seat and we couldnt cross them. And every 30 min we had to pass on the toy or game we currently had and that was the only time any contact was allowed! We were not very good at sharing with eachother!

I remember growing up always having a hamper in the bathroom. My sister loved playing on it and one day it slipped forward and when she slipped behind it she put a hole in the sheetrock. Everyone was safe, but it sure was funny!

Just last night, my sweet and loving 18 month old daughter shared her raspberries with me. She even fed them to me with her own hands. And while this doesn’t sound like a huge deal, raspberries are one of her reasons for living. Big Deal! BIG!!

SHARE ME! I used to share a room with my older brother and we had bunk beds. Whenever I would have nightmares or get scared, I would peak up on the upper bunk to make sure my brother was there or I would just wake him up saying his name. It made me feel safe to know he was there and could protect me from the boogeyman.

I recently asked my 20 month old daughter if she “could share her blueberries with mommy?” I then opened my mouth for her to feed one to me, which she did (good girl!). The only problem was that it was the blueberry from her mouth which she had already started to chew. It was squished and slobber loaded. Yum.

Every year I help my husband with a work conference, and typically his boss (he is also one of our closest friends) comes along to help. He (the boss) had been doing tons of traveling that week, and only had time to blast into the house, trade out his suitcase contents, and blast back out again to meet us at the conference. We are all settled our hotel rooms after a long day working. The next morning, my phone rings super early in the morning. It’s his boss! Apparently, in his rush out the door, he had forgotten to pack any underpants. LOL He was HORRIFICALLY embarrassed, and could not even call my husband to ask (how do you ask another guy to borrow his drawers?) – so he asked me if I happened to pack any extra for the husband — which I did (he knows me well). So I went next door, handed them to him through a crack in the door, and the rest of the day was full of really fun jokes about him wearing my husband’s underwear — as you can well imagine. You can bet he NEVER did that again!!! :-)

The most annoying thing I have to share right now is my bathroom with my husband-I think our master bath is smaller than yours! This prize wouldn’t help with that, but it would make some spot in my house a little more enjoyable to make up for it!

I recall many morning water wars between me and my big brother sharing a Jack & Jill bathroom. Not sure why he insisted on having the sink closest to my room. We were thrilled when Mom got us water piks! :)

My husband and I have been together quite a few years and share quite a bit, yet as a huge germaphobe, there are things I will not share. However in a moment of weakness, I let him borrow my toothbrush when he forgot his and we got in late to our destination without the ability to buy a new one until the morning. I still gag at the thought! Needless to day, I bought a new brush the next day too!

Growing up with three siblings meant that I had to share everything, all the time, no matter what!! We used to wear each other’s clothes, ride each other’s bikes, take books, eat each other’s food, without really asking. I didn’t realize it until college that I would use my roomate’s things without asking but I was so used to just sharing things that it never occured to me that either one of us needed to ask first!
Oh well, sharing is caring, isn’t it???

As for my touching story… I just knew the moment I met my husband that he was the one. I had just turned 20 and he was 21 and I had that immediate spark once we met. I spent the next 3 months being my most charming self and eventually won him over! I can say love at first sight exists!

SHARE ME! I used to have a co-workers who thought everytime the department went out to lunch together, everyone should share their leftovers with him. “Are you going to eat that? Mind if I have it?” As much as I like him, this was one habit that drove me nuts!!

Share Me!! My two boys are 5 1/2 years apart and have to share a room. They get along MOSTLY, but the older does pick at the younger and the youngest responds with a lot of whining and tattling. One day out of frustration I told them to go in their room and work out a plan to get along, then come and get me and let me know their plan. They came out after a while and the older one said, “we have an agreement. When I tease Dec he will not tattle on me and if he does I will TRY not to retaliate.” I had to laugh out loud and then send them back to come up with a better plan.

SHARE ME! Growing up, we had 1 bathroom and a 7 person family. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard people banging at the bathroom door telling me to hurry up and get out of the shower after 5 minutes :) And when my dad deemed that we were taking too long of showers, he would turn on the hot water in the kitchen and we would be out of that shower immediately since the water would be freezing cold!

My brother and I were very good at sharing vegetables. At the beginning of EVERY MEAL when we had salad, he would get all my tomatoes (ick) and I would get all his carrots. Yum!
It worked out well. Currently, my kids do the same. Though we make them both eat a little of what they don’t love, one eats the veggies and the other will skim some meat off the other one’s plate.

Share Me!!!! My 2 year old son, my mom, and me were in home depot a couple weeks ago when an older man with a big white beard, who was a little on the heavy side walks by us, and my 2 year old screams Santa Claus and points at the man! My mom and I had to turn around cuz we were trying not to laugh, but we were cracking up. We spent the rest of our time trying to avoid the poor guy in the store.
