Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

In high school I went on a date with a guy that I had a crush on and at the end of the date we went to an ice cream place that had huge milkshakes. He ordered one for us to share which would have been fine except that I’m kind of a germ a phobe when it comes to sharing drinks. I didn’t want him to think I was being rude about not having my own shake though so every time he offered it to me I would take the tiniest sip I could and try not to gag.

My fiance and I have to share our tiny bathroom (the only bathroom in our house) every morning as we get ready. I’ve been late to work on more than one occassion since someone (ahem, not me) spends a lot of time arranging his hair perfectly! And they say women always take longer to get ready to leave the house… :)

My husband and I own a small ranch cottage as our first home. Well, sharing a tiny bathroom can be quite a challenge. Constantly waiting for each other to finish up this and that, standing behind him trying to fix my hair as he washes his face. First thing on our new house list is…jack and jill sinks!

I have kind of traumatic memories of sharing with my sibling. She is 6 years older than me and I was more than happy to share anything I had with her. She, on the other hand, wrote her name on everything she owned so that I would not take it. She had the excuse that I always messed stuff up, but to this day we have issues sharing, simply because now I am paying her back! Ha!

I once offered to share a room with a colleague who was going on a work trip with me. I thought we could save our department some $$ The look of horror on her face was something to behold. Turns out she was plotting an affair with another colleague who was also going on the same trip.

Share Me! My 18 month old is just learning how to share, and does it so willingly . . . when it’s the food on his plate that he doesn’t want to eat!

SHARE ME! Oh goodness…I was TERRIBLE at sharing. My childhood friend (whom I am still friends with) tried to play with my riding horse stick (no idea how to describe this toy…it was a long wooden stick with a horse head that you could “ride” around and pretend it was a real horse). Any who, I got so upset when she played with it that I grabbed it from her and whacked her in the head REALLY hard. 5 year old Katie was such a jerk. We both remember this story and still laugh about it 20 years later.

I was scared of the dark as a youngster and made my older sister sleep with me. We each had our own room but I would end up in her bed at night. Sorry sister!

SHARE ME! When I first lived on my own, I rented a house with 4 other girls. In Pennsylvania, that is technically considered a brothel. It was crazy and fun and terrible all at the same time.

SHARE ME When we moved into our first home 8 months ago, my husband and I had to share a single closet for the first 6 months. He’s tidy – I’m not. To make a long story short, we ended up buying him an IKEA wardrobe so he didn’t have to lose any more bar space via my takeover.

share me!! When I was growing up my sister and I shared a room–from the time she was an baby. For the most part it was a good experience, but we had some good knock down drag outs too!

Share me! I think some of my best sharing moments were probably in the dorms at college…one tiny little space with 4 girls. We did our best to share space.

When I was a kid I used to love playing with barbies and I wanted my brother to play with me but I had to settle for his G.I. Joes to be my barbie’s tiny neighbors

SHARE ME! My sister and I “shared” clothes in our teens, but the record goes to a snowflake sweater (hers) that we have shared for 40 years. It was knit by an aunt and is the “go-to” sweater when one is cold and sick, or need winter comfort.

SHARE ME! This goes under harrowing: my husband, 14 month old daughter and I all “shared” the stomach bug that was going around a few weekends ago. Not enjoyable, but normal. What made it harrowing was the fact that it also happened to be the weekend a root infiltrated our plumbing, resulting in 2 inches of raw sewage in our basement. With three members of the household unable to hold anything down and no plumbing, it will go down as the worst weekend of our lives thus far, and that’t not even including the cleanup. Thank god for a brave RotoRooter man!

When my brother and I were little (he is three years younger than me), we shared a tent that was set up in our playroom. We slept in that tent together for several years until I decided it was time to give my actual bed some use!

My best friend Brian and I share a dog together. His name is Buddy and is a chihuahua mix (and looks a lot like Burger). Brian moved in with a roommate who had 2 huge cats that weighed over 25 pounds. The cats would beat Buddy up every day, so I stepped in the first week. Buddy has lived with me now for 6 years and Buddy is very happy. That roommate has long since been gone, but we found that sharing Buddy gave him the best life possible. I work during the day and Brian works at night. Buddy always has someone to keep him company and is never lonely. Buddy is like my child now and is very loved.

My older brother and I shared a room for 6 years until my parents realized it might be embarrassing for a 12 year old to share a room with this sister. My brother has always been a bit of a brainiac and my dad told me that while he slept, letters and numbers would fly out of his ears because there was no more room in his brain. I distinctly remember fighting to stay awake to see it for myself!

SHARE ME. I don’t so much share my bed with two cats as let them take it over, leaving me with a tiny, cramped up place to sleep. Who knew two small creatures could occupy so much space?
