Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I teach pre-school – a four year old class – we work on sharing quite a lot. More than once I have seen students offer to share snacks, crayons, paint, etc….I often watch to see what a “share” looks like as far as portion size goes. In the snack department, the size of the share is totally dependent on the popularity of the snack….I am always amazed how small a piece can be broken off one goldfish….and how quickly raisins can move from one napkin to another.

Share Me!I wish I was a better sharer. My dad though, is the kindest man and will give you the shirt off his back if you asked, which isn’t alwalys a good thing, but definately something to be inspired by.

SHARE ME… I am a nanny and most of the trips I get to spend every sleeping and waking moment with the kids. So one night everyone is sleeping and I think I finally have time to hop in the shower and shave. The little girl comes in and yells boobies!!! The next day she kept telling people she saw my boobies. Sharing a room and bathroom with kids that are not yours and should never see your boobies is not fun!

Share Me! My sister and I shared a bedroom for years, until finally in a fit of needing my own space I broke out the tape measure and graph paper. After measuring walls, furniture, and closet space required I proved to my parents that my dad’s workshop/den could be a bedroom. Sorry, Dad!

SHARE ME… learning how to share my significant other’s itty bitty galley kitchen was a true relationship test. There’s barely enough room to turn around, let alone actually cook alongside another person. At first it was horribly awkward and elbow-y, but over time it’s turned into an effective and, dare I say, graceful dance.

My husband, the man who adamantly doesn’t share food, has finally (after almost 3 years of marriage!) sharing food with me. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is…

My daughter is 5 now, but when she was toddler she needed to bring a bag of her favorite babies with her everywhere she went. One day she insisted that she “share” with a total stranger how she feeds her baby…full on nursing style. I was nursing her baby brother back in those days and someone learned quickly!

We are actually teaching my niece all about sharing right now (she is 2). The best part is that when she doesn’t want you to have something she doesn’t get angry she just shakes her head and says, “Aunt Sadie no like french fries.” And I say – YES I DO! Ha :)

My parents bought a used car for me and my three older sisters to share. When my parents bought it, my two oldest sisters had their licenses and they took turns driving it. Then, when my oldest sister went to college, my other sister got her license and those two sisters took turns driving it. Then, when I got my license, my second oldest sister took the car with her to college (where my third oldest sister joined her a year later). I never drove that car once!
Actually, I ended up not having a car until I was 27!

My funniest memory of my older brother, and yet the scariest at the time, was when he was babysitting me and he chased me around the house telling me he was going to bury me in the backyard and tell the parents I ran away. Being 10 or 11 at the time I was scared silly. Now that we are good friends I just think it’s funny. Crazy older brothers.

Well, I am an only child and so the whole ‘sharing’ thing wasn’t a problem–until preschool. Apparently it KILLED me to have to play kitchen with other girls, I was used to my imaginary friends who did just what I wanted them to. I would come home each day and tell my mother just how awful it was to have to play the way the other girls wanted to play. After a few weeks, I was so excited to have girl friends that actually talked to me instead of pretending they were there!
I guess I was bit of a drama queen- promise I am all better now, ha!

I had two sisters near my own age and loved that, thanks to being willing to share myself, I was able to borrow their stuff and my wardrobe was essentially three times as large as any of my friends. It has been kind of rough since I got married and moved away! I’m the only girl in the house and even though 2/3rds of the closet is mine my wardrobe still seems pathetically small to me by comparison.

I was in math club in high school (yes, I know how nerdy that sounds) and whenever we went to a competition we would stop and buy a dozen donuts for breakfast, split between six people. We paid for it by having each person chip in a dollar – except the price was something more like $4.50, so one time I didn’t end up paying… and then my teammates gave me the change too! Clearly, we didn’t win that math competition.

I work in a health laboratory where we test drinking water sources for potability. Sometimes we recieve calls from clients who think their well water is contaminated and causing their medical problems. People over share their medical problems WAY TO MUCH. I’m sorry but please call your doctor if you want to describe puss filled boils or burning skin rashes.

One time when I was a freshman in college I was driving down the road and saw this guy I had a crush on hitchhiking (I know, random) with his friend to get to a Dave Matthews Concert. I pulled into the gas station near where they were standing and got out to talk and flirt or whatever. I don’t know what my young, freshman mind was thinking — it probably wasn’t. And after I did my thing talking to him I got back in my car and drove out planning to honk my horn as I drove past them — ya know, to be real cool. And instead of honking and looking cool I smashed into another car and had to drive right past my crush and his friend along with the guy I hit so we could pull into a parking lot and wait for the cops. So embarrassing — but really funny now!!

The moment I realized that my two-year-old was going into the bathroom to wash her hands with her siblings, but came out too quickly although her hands were wet. Turns out instead of waiting in line at the sink, she had gotten into the habit of dipping her hands in the toilet. Convenient, quick, hassle-free hand washing–she couldn’t understand my dismay.

Funny I don’t remember any heartwarming sharing stories, but instead I remember the non-sharing moments growing up. For example, my brother occasionally would find a movie on tv that was halfway through and insist on watching it, commercials and all, even though we owned the VHS that he could watch in the other room, so that I could use the tv. UGH! Brothers. (shakes head)
