Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

This made me laugh recently. I share my B-day with my friend’s 4-year-old niece. When she told her niece that it was my B-day too, her niece said “No, it’s my birthday. Tell her to have hers tomorrow.” haha!

The benefit of having twins is that they learn to share everything from the get go. When they were about 18 months old they’d sit at the computer and take turns pushing letters for a Sesame Street game which caused Elmo to do different things. It was very cute!

I work at a retail business that does a lot of business during christmas. We don’t really get a chance as a company at charity much because we’re corporate owned and everything must be approved beforehand, but last christmas we got to help someone out.
We received news of a family whose father figure had abandoned them andwhile they had the essentials, there was no extra money for gifts. So as a team, we purchased several games and treats for the entire family and gifted it to the mother to distribute on christmas to the children. We even got Mom some presents.
I’ve never seen someone cry out of sheer disbelief and gratitude. The mom hugged every one of us.
We were able to give a family a Christmas to celebrate. It brought the real meaning of Christmas out, too: helping and giving to those in need.

Apparently as a toddler, I was quite the handful for my parents – I was pretty notorious for running out of the house and exploring the neighborhood on my own despite the very watchful eyes of my parents and older sister. Needless to say, I was never more proud when I heard the story of my nephew (then 2 years old) breaking out of daycare and leading all the children in his group to the playground. If history repeats itself and he takes after me, my sister and brother-in-law are going to have a lot of stories.

My boys have the hardest time sharing me. At night, we snuggle in my bed and read together. The problem is that they all want to be next to me – I have three boys, so someone gets left out. My youngest found a solution though. My older two lay on my left and right, and the little guy lays on me!

SHARE ME: As kids my sister and I had to share a bed whenever we would spend the night at my aunt’s house. It never failed that in the middle of the night my aunt and uncle would hear, “THUD”, on the hardwood floor, because one of us kicked the other out of bed!

Share me! – My mom and I visiting New York several years ago and got horribly lost on what should have been an easy subway ride. We were only supposed to go one stop, but the train we got on went the wrong way, and then we kept changing trains trying to find our way back. Thankfully we never really ended up anywhere scary. lol And thank goodness for the giant map at grand central!!

I just realized that the story was supposed to be about sharing something, oops! (I need to read the rules better.) I suppose we “shared” the journey. lol
The toughest thing I’ve ever had to share is a kitchen! Trying to fit three girls cooking three different dinners into one tiny little kitchen. We would all try not to be in each other’s way, but of course no matter where we stood, one of the others needed something behind us. lol Makes me appreciate just me and my husband in our (slightly) bigger kitchen only cooking one meal!

SHARE ME! After we first moved into our new house, my husband kindly offered up our (empty at the time) living room to store our friend’s furniture for a week or two while he renovated his house. Of course a week or two turned into months, so we had to live with the living room in our new house looking like a yard sale for way too long! That’s the last time that will ever happen :)

SHARE ME! My sister and I used to share a room growing up. Lets just say we were a family that wasn’t afraid to pass gas around each other….except my sister. She would never partake in those activities and did not think they were funny when the rest of us did them. But one night while she was sleeping she let one and I was the lone person that witnessed it. I never let her live that one down. LOL!

I’ve always acted like I didn’t mind sharing, but secretly I’ve hated it. I’d rather just give someone something than have to let them use it and return it to me. I am always afraid they will break it or mess it up and then I will be stuck with a less-than-par version of my thing. So, I guess I am a good sharer. I just don’t like to be.

I’m pretty good about sharing. The best tip when sharing cake is one person slices and the other gets to choose. It will make you a careful slicer!

When I was in high school and at a (very cold) outdoor school event, my mom shared her hot drink with me so I could warm up. I thought it was hot cocoa and took a big gulp… only to discover it was coffee. I hated the taste of coffee, so you can imagine my surprise was rather sputter-tastic. She feigned innocence, but I think she was giggling to herself on the inside.

SHARE ME! On a plane a few days ago I explained to my 4 year old son that I had only 1 piece of gum left. He put it in his mouth, began to chew it, then asked me if I wanted to share it with him. So sweet, but I’m happy to say that is one thing I haven’t shared! : )

Did you know rabbits sometimes need foster care before they are adopted from a shelter, just like dogs or cats? I didn’t but I still find myself being a temporary home for a bunny named Philby. I also didn’t know rabbits had such personalities and took such an interest in their surroundings and the people around them. He has been a really funny addition to our home!

I share part of my house with my large black cat, named Cat 5 (or Mr. 5). Actually he would say that he shares his house with me. To my surprise this morning, we woke up sharing a pillow..I know, stupid story. This was the first thing that came to mind and I am too tired (lack of sleep from cat stealing pillow) to think of something better. :)

Last year I was driving to my sister’s house with my 2 year old daughter and soon to be born son. We were on the interstate and I started feeling light headed. I tried to pull over to the side of the road, but apparently blacked out before I was able to. My car had coasted from the right lane into the median of the Interstate where it was stopped by the guardrail from going into oncoming traffic, my foot was not on the gas pedal. We sustained no injuries, but the car was toast. We were very blessed to not have caused any other accidents, and a police officer was thankfully about 100 yards behind us. I don’t know how such a bad incident turned out so well. I thank the lord everyday for saving 3/4’s of my family, and still really can’t grasp a hold of what happened.

I did not share well when I was young, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve gotten better at it. One thing I don’t like to share is food on my plate (at least until I’m finished eating). I will share, but secretly I’ll be very unhappy about it. I think I acquired this bad habit when I started dating my very athletic, huge-portion-eating boyfriend. Because he eats so much to refuel I feel I have to guard my plate of food like it’s the only thing I’ll get. Once I get full anyone is welcome to whatever is left, but don’t ask for a bite before then; I’ll share like I don’t care, but secretly I’ll be a little angry about it. ;)

I have 2 sisters (I’m the middle) so we did a lot of clothes sharing. The only trouble is my older sister is a bit less scrawny than us other two, so anything that she borrowed usually came back a bit stretched. After MANY arguments about us no longer wanting to share with her, we finally installed locks on our closet doors. Ha.
