Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

My boss and I recently traveled to Virginia together for work, but had to stay at a hotel right by the airport to catch our 7 a.m. flight. I booked it online, and, well, let’s just say the shared experience of this roach motel was enough to make me cringe. I was SO GLAD someone was with me, though – couldn’t imagine staying at that awful place alone!

I was just visiting my two nieces who are 5 and 2 and getting them to grasp the concept of sharing is tough! It was just like my sister and I when we were kids.

I bought my daughter a big, faux fur, turquoise pillow for her birthday. First the cat discovered it, then the dogs. For a while it was comical- whenever one pet left the pillow, another would quickly take their place. Now the pillow is back in her room and she only shares with the pets occasionally. . .

SHARE ME! So my college roommate dated a guy that my sophomore roommate ended up dating the next year…so I pretty much shared a room with him for longer than either of my roommates.

My younger brother and I always refused to share deserts when we went out to dinner. My parents would eventually cave and order two, but we had big eyes would only eat half anyway :)

SHARE ME! I was so terrible as a child. My parents would get my sister and me identical toys so there wouldn’t be a sharing issue. Only problem is that when I would inevitably brake/lose my toy I would try and switch it with my sister’s. She did not appreciate that at all.

My younger sister and I were strong believers in the “You break, I choose” method of sharing food. We mainly applied this to cookies, granola bars, and nutrigrain bars. I always made sure that my sister broke, because inevitably, one side would be significantly larger, and I could then take it. Sharing was never my cup of tea, but I made sure to work it to my advantage when necessary.
Now when I visit her I make sure to take her out for a “Kaffee Klatch” (the German version of a tea party), to pay her back for all those years of getting the smallest piece.

I guess I shared the experience of going ice skating (for the first time ever!) with my fiance this past Saturday. And I shared the experience of not ending up in the E.R. with any broken bones! :)

I don’t know why this comes to mind.. but when my husband and I first got married.. we had to share my full size 8-year old bed/mattress that I got when I was in middle school. It was definitely not a comfortable first year.. haha!

We’ve been trying to teach my sixteen month old to share and probably have been too effective at it lately. I’ve been having to endure half-chewed crackers, pieces of banana, etc being shoved into my face as he tries to “share” them with me.

My sister and I had to share a bathroom growing up. She is 6 1/2 years older than me. If her stuff was on “my” half of the counter I would push it all into her sink…and she would do the same to me. It got so bad that our mom had to put masking tape down the middle of the counter!

Funny story.. on a bachlorette weekend in Atlanta, GA our group of 4 girls met these 4 boys from Australia.. one was a male stripper. No joke. And they ended up getting kicked out of their hotel room for making too much noise so they crashed in our room.. one guy had a super thick accent and he made up a song on this guitar he carried around and snag it to us.. but we couldn’t make out a work he was saying. The other guy simulated a strip tease. Dear lord. Awkward. And then they passed out on the floor of our room.. the one guy fell asleep cuddling his guitar.. Oh and the night before that my friend got so drunk she passed out.. and peed the couch. So he was sleeping on a pee couch. Ahahaha.. memories..

I love my husband but I hate sharing a bathroom with him! I always grew up with my own so this is very hard for me. But we just bought a new house so we no longer have to share a closet, we each have our own! NOW THAT IS AMAZING!!!

My sister and I shared a room for about 3 years. Her biggest complaint (other than my messiness) was that I never wanted to turn my lamp off until I finished “one more chapter”. One was usually more like 3 or 4…. We can laugh about it now!

When I think of “sharing” I just think of “share day” at school as a kid. You got to bring in your favorite item and show it off. My nephew is now in the grades where he gets to do it, so I frequently get requests to bring something back from a business trip for his share day.

I backpacked around Europe after college with a friend and we decided our backpacks were way too heavy after the first night. So we got rid of a ton of stuff, thinking we could share and make due. Well…we made a bad mistake when we decided to get rid of one towel. Two girls sharing one towel between them for 5 weeks…not pleasant. But funny! :)

SHARE ME! I’m not very good at sharing. If my sister and I needed to split the last piece of dessert, my parents made one of us cut it and the other was able to choose which piece to take. I hated when it was my turn to cut!

Once I had to share a pair of my underwear with my sister. I hadn’t worn them, but she’s smaller than I… and we had to tie the sides with rubber bands so they wouldn’t fall off! LOL We were on a trip in Minnesota and she SOMEHOW forgot underwear! HAHA
