Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

More than once, when we’ve shared a bed on vacations or overnight trips, my sister has “snuggled” me in the middle of the night, and I wake up to her snuggled up to me. She is not always a snuggly personality during the day, so that makes it doubly funny! Yes, I tease her about it mercilessly, but she is a good sport.

Note to self: never take same airplane as throng of drunk professors the morning after a big conference. Seeing the top heads in your field with vomit bags in front of their green faces WILL change the way you view their scholarship!

I’m looking forwarding to our upcoming move so that the little one no longer has to share her bathroom with our guests. She’ll have her own Jack and Jill bathroom between her bedroom and our office.

I learned my lesson on lending books YEEEEEEAAAARS ago when I lent a friend 3 Sweet Valley High books. She brought them back and my jaw nearly hit the floor. The books were trashed, the spines completely bent, the pages dog-eared and one of them had a stain on the cover. SERIOUSLY? Since then I ask people to be careful — it had never occurred to me that they wouldn’t be, d’oh – and now most people read digitally anyway :D

My oldest daughter (4) was trying to teach (connive) her younger sister (2) to share a cookie. She kept saying, “God tells us we have to share. Don’t you wanna be good? You should give that cookie to me.” The 2 yr old didn’t fall for it… “No!”.

My older sister and I used to share a room for several years. One day while we were home alone we decided we wanted to roast marshmallows. We took my Twirl-a-paint (I was sharing) and built a small fire in it in the middle of our bedroom. It burned through the plastic and onto the carpet before we could run a get a cup of water to put it out.
I still remember roasting my marshmallow and saying out loud “Something smells strange” and it was the burning plastic and carpet. We were worried we would get into trouble so we spun the area rug around to hid the spot under my bed. We thought we were safe but (as all mothers do) mine found out and we got into so much trouble! We also shared in the punishment of dishes and bathroom cleaning for a month.

Share me! When I was really little, I forcibly shared my older brother’s birthday with him… as in, “I get presents too, or I throw a major tantrum.” My parents had to buy me something to unwrap on his birthday for a few years until I grew out of it/reached the point where it was no longer about me. Today, I can’t believe I ever had the nerve to do it. ::sheepish grin::

Well, I have a sister who is six years older than me. Growing up, I thought we were really good at sharing. Since we’ve grown, though, I’ve realized that I was really good at borrowing her clothes without offering much in return. Especially when she left for California to go to college ;) Lucky to be a little sister sometimes!

I have two sons, ages 3 and 6. We have really been working on sharing in our house. It’s not always easy. One night at bedtime I walked into the bathroom to see them sharing the toilet. They must have picked up on the confused look on my face. My 3 year old grinned in a very proud way and said, “Mommy! We’re sharing!”

Share Me! Changing our little girl in the car over the weekend … let’s just say there was leakage without a diaper present. We found ourselves holding our half nakey, dripping babe over the sidewalk. All three of us were laughing.

My sister and I once had an argument about who was going to get the last packet of miso soup. We refer to it today as our “miso soup fight.” What a funny thing to fight over!
Btw, I think it’s awesome that you’re doing this! What a great way to share the love. :)

In high school, I went on several mission trips with my church’s youth group. We would go away for a week, sleep on air mattresses on the floor (usually in classrooms of a school), and then spend the week doing work for people. During one of these trips, my best friend’s air mattress went flat and she was without a squishy sleeping service. Being the great friend that I am, I offered to share my air mattress with her. However, my air mattress wasn’t any bigger than a cheap pool float. So, we each had about 6-8 inches to sleep for the remaining 4 nights of the trip. Craziness!

SHare me! My brothers and I “share” a hideously ugly Santa that begins traveling from house to house on Thanksgiving and whoever has it Christmas Eve at midnight has to keep it for the next year! Santa sneaks into the sibling’s houses and many of our friends like us to share the creative ways we have passed Santa on (think hiding him under the wheel well in a siblings minivan while babysitting his kids!)

Dont have a horrible sharing story. Sharing one bathroom with my two girl friends in college was so fun. Doing our hair and make up together with some music and drinks….makes for a fun time and great memories

Share me! I had to share a room with my younger sister once. We were always trying to find ways to divide the space…. We put masking tape on the floor. We hung sheets from the ceiling and tried to position the furniture to separate us. Funny thing is when we finally moved in the fifth grade and had our own rooms, our Dad let us watch “The Exorcist” … we were so frightened we ended up moving back into one room again.

Share Me!!! One of my best life experiences was the summer before my senior year of college, 4 friends and I decided to rent a 1 bedroom basement apartment from one of our faculty members. It was five girls sharing one bedroom with three sets of bunk beds. Ha! We had so much fun, we still refer to it as the “Golden Summer.”

Share me!! I have an obsession with sharing when I go out for dinner with someone. It gives you more options, allows you to satisfy both salty and sweet cravings, and is just fun. My husband on the other hand dreads the moment when I look up from the menu and say “Do you want to share?”

Share me. I remember the first time my parents taught me about sharing with my brother. They had me cut a candy bar in half to share with my brother, and, of course, I made one half bigger thinking it was my half, then they let him pick what half he wanted first–I used the same thing on my kids, one person cuts and the other gets to pick first (a classic)

We moved 8 people into a 3 bedroom/ 2 bath house that needed a complete renovation. I thought my parents were crazy, but it was on an acre and the house had “good bones” so they saw the potential! We cooked for a family of 8 out of a microwave for 2 months as the kitchen was 100% torn out and redone. We lived on sub floors for several months. And we were 3 kids (several of us teenagers) to a room for almost a year while we built an addition taking us to 5 bedrooms/ 3 baths. It was crowded and we definitely learned to share. :)

SHARE ME . . . I suck at sharing. It has to be pre-planned that we are going to share otherwise I can’t handle it. I also don’t like sharing intimate details of my life. I am definitely not an oversharer. I love that my bf and I have our own house and don’t live with 5 boys anymore so that I don’t have to “share” my food. I am the worst.
Salina says
Share me! Ok this is might fall into the topic of oversharing. My parents had weird ways of punishing me when I was a kid, my favorite was when I was 17 they decided that I needed to be taught the lesson of “don’t slam doors”. After a silly adolescent fight I slammed my door after being told not to for the 10,000th time. When I came home from school I didn’t have a door. And I didn’t get it back for about 6 months! This was maybe the worst punishment ever for a 17 year old girl who liked to change her outfit every 20 minutes – and it meant a lot of unnecessary walking between my room and the bathroom.
