Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Recently met my 60 year old parents on a beach vacation; my mom decided we should swim to a little cay (island) that was ‘just over there’. Of course distances by eye and by crawl-stroke are slightly different, and we swam far enough that there was a long stretch in the middle where you couldn’t see the ocean floor. To top it off, the tide/wind/waves were a bigger deal right on the little island, and, somehow, my dad lost his snorkel, so we had two snorkels between the three of us and needed to get back!
(We survived, and all learned a valuable lesson about distance and planning and those little loops that connect your snorkel to your mask-strap.)

My good friend who I call ‘Sissy’ because she’s like a sister is a really good chef trying to open her own restaurant. She texted last night that she made a huge batch of jambalaya and wanted to drop some off. She just drove all the way across town and back, used the key we gave her to watch our kitty while we’re out of town, and put a container in our fridge so we would have dinner when we got home from work…If I win, I will be scoping out something for her kitchen!!

I hate sharing drinks with people (except for boyfriend and family) so when people ask for a sip of what I am having, instead of being rude and saying no, I usually just give it to them. Germaphobe? Maybe.

Share me! Great giveaway, thanks!
My sister and I shared the backseat of a car for many, many years on family vacations.

SHARE ME! My funny/gross story would have to be when I was driving in Westover Hills (Forest Hill area) in the back alleys and a homeless man walked out in front of me, so obviously I stopped. Then as I proceeded to drive away/watch to make sure he wasn’t going to try to hurt me, he went by the fence and dropped his pants and popped a squat… My life has never been the same since then…

Share me! My two children do share well, most of the time. When they were younger they didn’t even want to share their view! While riding in the car, my son said, “MOM! SHE’S LOOKING OUT MY WINDOW!” I have to say, I tried my best to hide my laughing!

I broke my leg one month ago Wednesday and have been staying with my parents, brother, and sister ever since. It was a bad break (my tibia was broken in one place, the fibula was broken in 3 places, and I tore multiple tendons and ligaments in my ankle) that required emergency surgery. My family stepped up in the biggest way!! My 14-year-old brother happened to have the day after my accident off of school and he spent it inside with me rather than going outside with his friends. My mom took an unpaid leave from work to help me the first week post-surgery (I couldn’t even lift my leg for a few days, so if I wanted a pillow under it someone needed to lift it for me). If I win this giveaway, I’ll buy them something awesome for all the help they’ve given me.

When I was about 5 years old, I decided to share a play-by-play of our family beach vacation with my very religious (think Footloose) grandparents. My mom said she was mortified when I told them, “Dad drank so many margaritas that Mom said we would have to carry him back to the hotel!”

I grew up in a family that always had to share. I think the first time I got to order my own drink at a drive through and not have to share it was when I went away to college. I know sharing is a good quality and I credit my parents for not being weird about sharing anything now, but come on people – did we really need to only buy 2 drinks for a family of 5!

Witnessed my DIY husband create a contraption on which to stand (!) in order to hang three 50 lb pictures in the two story stairwell this weekend. It involved a ladder, 2x4s, and vice grips. Harrowing, but successful. Same husband took daughter snowboarding- she came home w a fractured wrist. I thought of these things when I saw the roof post & the face in the skylight!!

When my son was at daycare, we got called in to the director’s office one day to discuss that day’s show-and-tell. Apparently, DS had decided that the coolest thing he had to share was his “peanut,” so he whipped down his shorts and told his classmates all the wonderful things a peanut could do.
Mortified!

My most harrowing moment today was being so very sick with a severe cold, pregnant with my fourth baby with three other little ones running around at home (the oldest being almost 4), and having my three year old have the biggest most poopy diaper on the face of the earth. Then having to change this ninja diaper on my freshly washed sheets on my bed cause baby#3 was napping in their room so my bed was covered in grossness. I need a drink! But I will have to wait till September for that! LOL

My dog and I share the bed…I get out of it and go to work. And when I get home I can tell he’s been sleeping in it! It might be okay for little Burger, but not for a big slobbery, shedding Black Lab ;o)

When I was 15 I was living in Berlin and traveled alone to Nürnberg for 2 days. I stayed overnight in a youth hostel and shared a bunk bed with a girl from Japan who was also traveling alone. I didn’t realize until the evening that I forgot to pack toothpaste! My bunkmate didn’t speak any English, I was too flustered to think of the word for “toothpaste” in German, and it took a few minutes of awkward charades for her to figure out that I wanted to borrow her toothpaste. It ended up being this strange bubblegum flavor (who over the age of 8 uses bubblegum-flavored toothpaste? Haha.). I’ll never forget that!

Our youngest daughter, who will be 5 this Friday, still shares our bed. I know! Can you believe it?! The hubby asks her every night, “So are you ready to sleep in your big girl bed yet?” And to his dismay, her response each time is “NOPE, NOT YET!” It’s a good thing she is the youngest of 5 and that the hubby and I are both in agreement that we are officially done having any more kids :)

I’m really enjoying our not quite 2 year olds not very good attempts at sharing. When she and her little friends (okay, my friend’s kids :-) get together, they always want what the other has – it goes in a circle all afternoon. It’s a riot.

When my sister and I were in college we shared a 700 square foot 2 bed / 1 bath house with 2 dogs and 2 cats. While we were both gone one day it started raining and we had forgotten to close the dog door. We returned home later to discover 2 sets of muddy pawprints all over our white duvet covers and tan couch. It was as if they made a race track through the house. It was too much of a sight to not laugh, but we still disagree about who left that door open…

Share me! We are still working on sharing at our house. Right now it goes more along the lines of grab the toy with one hands and push with the other. With 3 kids 3 and under it might take awhile for the concept to sink in….

SHARE ME!!!! My brother and sis-inlaw have greatly been sharing their freezer keeping the top tier of our wedding cake frozen since hurricane Irene and the crazy December storm that left our south side of Richmond house with a tree through the roof and no power for weeks! Hopefully we will have the opportunity to help them out one day!
