Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

This past year my husband lost his job and to save on household expenses we decided to share a vehicle and sell our second car. It really wasn’t too bad but the day he was offered a new job, he was at the dealership getting us a second car…
It is nice to be able to run errands without having to check in with the husband first to see whether he needs the car or not.

I have never been great at sharing food, so I knew it was true love when I willingly and unquestioningly dove into an undivided dessert with my then-bestfriend & now-boyfriend.

SHARE ME! My best friend is an oversharer, but it makes for utter hilarity when I receive an inappropriate email in the middle of my work day and can’t stop laughing. If IT is monitoring my email, I’m sure they’re getting a kick out of it.

Share me! I never shared a room as a kid, so moving into the dorms for college has me totally freaked. Luckily, my roommates and I got along fantastically! Amazingly enough, the random roommate generator algorithm paired me up with someone I went to pre-school with! Some of my best friends were made that first year. I was glad to move out of a shared bedroom, but I’m so glad for that experience!

SHARE ME! I shared a room with my younger sister growing up, and I think I tortured her royally. To me, it was great sister bonding time, but I think she looks back on it a little differently.

hmmmm….how about that time when the hubs and I were playfully tickling each other…then I tickled behind his knee and “out of reflex” he totally kicked me in the face. did I mention he’s a soccer player? shockingly it didn’t hurt at all…but it made a loud SLAP! i cried out of shock…then quickly realized I was fine. :)

The first time I shared my room was when I headed off to boarding school at 16. I was in a quad room with 3 other girls. You learn a lot about how much noise you and your roommates can or can’t tolerate when you’re in super tight quarters! (And a lot about how to cram all your things into a SMALL space.)

SHARE ME! I was at a construction site as the corporate representative. I had a major crush on the guy I was traveling with. Totally engrossed in our conversation, we were walking across the parking lot to get a quick bite to eat at a fast food restaurant, when I slipped and landed on my backside! That’s not the embarrassing part, though. They had just put a fresh layer of blacktop on the parking lot and somehow we missed all the orange cones and had walked straight into the middle of it. That blacktop soaked through my pants and through my underwear and was under my fingernails for weeks!

SHARE ME! Growing up, i shared a bedroom with my twin sister. It was a big room but many times we drew a line down the middle when we would fight over who’s side was messier wishing if only we could have our own room!

Years ago when I moved across the country, to a city I had never been before, a college friend offered to let me stay with her until I found a place of my own (I picked up and moved with no job or place to live!). I thought this would be fantastic until I arrived and found out she lived in a TINY studio. Luckily, we didn’t have to share that 10×10 space for very long!

SHARE ME! My son went on his first Easter egg hunt this weekend. Another little girl shared a plastic egg with him. When he opened the egg there was a piece of candy which he promptly put in his mouth to our embarrassment. We told him he should have shared the candy. So he took the candy out of his mouth and handed it to the little girl.
That is not what we meant by sharing!!!

My sister for some reason would use the mirror in my bedroom instead of the mirror in our bathroom we shared for getting ready in the morning. I had a pacman frog that sat in a large glass bowl (like a goldfish bowl) that sat on my dresser below that mirror. I’m convinced she killed my frog! She would spray her Aquanet on those flock of seagull bangs every morning over that over glass bowl. Still have no idea why she chose to wake me up and use the tiny mirror instead of our ceiling to counter bathroom mirror.

Sometimes when we go out to eat my husband and I share a meal becuase they are often so large neither of us could finish an entire plate on our own. We ask for an extra plate so we don’t have to eat off the same plate but usually waiters are not too happy to learn we will be ordering 1 not two meals. Oh well I tip good so its ok right? :)

I am a happy sharer. Unfortunately, I’m also a happy over-sharer. A few years ago, I was invited to the wedding of a college roommate. I sent a text message to another college roommate saying how excited I was and asking if she wanted to share a hotel room. I was perplexed when she didn’t text back, so I looked in my text history. The message had never sent! Fortunately, I had received a text from the bride in the meantime saying that the other roommate was NOT invited. Thank goodness my signal went down and that text didn’t send! That accidental over-share would’ve gotten me in the middle of a sticky situation! :)

Since I’m 1500 comments from the top, I’ll go ahead and share a couple of my stories…
Sharing space: on a two week car trip out west, when we were all 11 or younger, the 4 of us kids kept snacking on something that gave us BAD gas. So imagine a minivan with 4 adults (aunts too) and 4 kids, and the back windows were only openable from the drivers seat (WTF dodge?). One of the 4 would fart, and someone would call to my dad to open the windows because “x pooted”. it was a nightmare. constant_farting.
Sharing too much: I work in the jungle. My first season, in a tent camp, my prof was showering in the pouring rain, using run-off from the tarps. He was only wearing *wet* boxers…and then he calls out to me to take a picture! With the line-drying clothes it looks like I’m naked! …Sure, dude, I’d love for everyone to think I saw you naked, showering. Not at all awkward.

My sister and I shared a room when we were younger (up until I was 7 and she was 10). We used to play a game with our bunk beds where we would “fly” on the mattress when another person pushed it up by kicking it from the bottom.

SHARE ME! My sister and I were awful at sharing growing up. The TV remote was particularly contentious. Once, when I had it, she just stood in front of the TV, turning it off every time I tried to change the channel. Not fair!
