Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Right now our house has 1 bathroom that only has 1 sink, so my husband and I are often elbowing each other while brushing teeth. I can’t wait until we remodel! We’re adding a Master Bath with 2 sinks! No more sharing for us! (hmmm…. maybe a non-sharing story was not the point here….)

SHARE ME! I shared a room with my sis who is 3 years younger than me until I was 17! Thought I was on top of the world when my parents moved to a bigger house a couple of months before I graduated :)

I was on a class trip in college and one of my classmates asked if I wanted a piece of cheese. It was one of the oddest, most out-of-the-blue questions I’d ever heard, but I said “Sure!” She then proceeded to pull a 2 pound block of cheese out of her purse, broke me off a huge hunk, and handed it to me.
I still giggle whenever I think about it. Definitely my strangest “sharing” moment.

Share me. After having the second kid you hear horror stories about getting them to share. Funny enough it hasn’t beent a problem with my 3 year old and 10 month old yet. EXCEPT, for when I’m playing patty cake with her. He wants the imaginary cake to be for him…so now we just have to play twice and once we make a cake for her and once for him (I play with her both times, just let him hear the cake is for him- but I think it’s hilarious)

This might be too much — but you asked for harrowing — when I was 7, my younger brother and sister and I rode everywhere together shoved side by side in the backseat of my parents’ green chevy station wagon. Sharing space. Right. I remember my sister saying, “Hey, where did Patrick get that chocolate?” and turning to look at his hands, covered in what appeared to be melted chocolate. But no. He had a diaper blowout and was proudly displaying the results on his hands. We quickly stopped and my parents had a lot of fun cleaning up the mess while parked on the side of the highway…

my sister and i shared a room growing up. seeing as we’re seven years apart, and it wasn’t at all a large bedroom (or closet!), it made for some friction. =) we had a bunk bed and i had the upper bunk, so for years i referred to her as “the monster under my bed.” now, that has become an affectionate nickname…but we also haven’t been sharing living quarters for a good seven years. =)

My sister and I were bad at sharing when we were little(7 and 4), and on a long car ride, I had the gameboy and she wanted it, so after arguing and trying to steal it from me, she just punched me in the nose and took it.

My sisters and I always stole each others clothes, shoes, accessories- really anything- growing up. And now, thanks to Facebook, we can still keep tabs on each other. I’m constantly finding my ‘lost’ clothes in my little sis’s pics! Totally busted!

My freshman year roommate Amy and I shared a small little dorm room. We got along really well. Knowing that I would come home later than her, she had this lovely habit of leaving my desk light on and putting sweet Post-Its on my desk so I’d see them when I came home. After years of sharing all sorts of things with my sister and having many difficult experiences with this, coming home to her was a delight, even in a small closet of a room!

We’ve been in our new home for 6 months – our 12 year old daughters favorite feature is her private bathroom with only her germs and no little kids messes; our favorite feature is the great room open floor plan that still forces our little sweeties to share space unless they want to be in their rooms. :)

The first day we met some new neighbors at the park down the street, we walked home with them and learned that the Dad was divorced with a kid who lived in Maryland, the Mom was also divorced with a kid, they had 2 kids of their own but were not married and didn’t care what people thought about that, how much they paid for the house, what his favorite kind of food was, got invited to their family barbeque, and pretty much got asked to babysit the following weekend. I don’t even think we shared our names…

My one year old recently started sharing her food with my husband and I. It’s so sweet to see her offer food. Seeing the smile that comes across her face after she sees us eat whatever she has given us, is even more sweet.

My boss is really into horror movies and one day we were talking about not being able to sleep after a particularly scary one. We both brought up how this inability to sleep affected our live-in boyfriend/girlfriend (as in, if we weren’t sleeping neither were they!) — but only afterwards did I realize how strange it was to talk with my boss about him laying in bed with his ex-girlfriend!

Share me! My sister and I shared a bedroom, which is fine…what made it tough was that when we argued, she’d split the room down the middle…her “half” included the door and she’d guard it and not let me leave without her permission!

So there I was on a remote island south of Bangladesh on a little vacation from our UK version of PeaceCorps posting (I live in the USA now though, no fear). It sounds idyllic, a little island that you could only get to on a teeny tiny boat. Jumping off the boat, wading through the sea to get to the island, fresh coconuts. How lucky I was to be in such an incredible place. A guesthouse with a bed (no electricity) was all I required for a nights sleep, or so I thought.
But in the humid night air, I was sweating in the oddest of places (behind the knees anyone!) and I kept waking up feeling quite itchy. Ah for a fan, but beggars can’t be choosers right. Then I was really, REALLY itchy. I woke up and by the light of my wind-up torch I realised I was COVERED in ants. Attracted to my sweaty form they were crawling up from inside the mattress and crawling all over me and biting biting biting. I sat up all night trying to find a way to share the bed amicably with the ants, read stop the critters crawling all over me but alas it was not meant to be. They won. Ants 1, Me 0. No sleep and a covering of ant bites, throwing up on the boat ride back from lack of sleep and dehydration, never trust an ant.
It is too disgusting to tell you about the time I had dysentery and had to share my pit toilet with a nest of rats. All I will say is the animal kingdom routinely kicks my butt. Thank goodness now I have an ant free mattress…I think…so just the rest of the house to decorate then!
Thanks for the giveaway!

When I was on my first-ever business trip, I was sharing a room with the director of HR of our nonprofit. She ended up getting *really* sick, and I took care of her and kept the secrets she shared about her fears and doubts about one of her family members – it was really sweet set of days, to see how much she trusted me in her delirium.

This past weekend I shared my front lawn for a yard sale to benefit a pregnant friend of mine who isn’t fortunate enough to have a lawn of her own. We took the lack of yard salers as an opportunity to gab and gaffaw to our hearts content. Good times. :)

SHARE ME! This is actually my husband’s story, but it’s the first one that came to mind when I thought of sharing. My mother-in-law is one of the loudest snorers you have ever heard: like a chainsaw, I am not kidding you (and she’s this tiny Filipina lady).
Anyway, back before we were married, their family was driving across the country from VA to CA and back and they had stopped in a hotel in Oklahoma City for the night and he and his parents were sharing a suite. My hubby couldn’t sleep because of his mom’s snoring. He tried sleeping in the bathtub in the connecting bathroom, but it was still so loud he ended up going outside and sleeping in the van, DURING a tornado watch. The tornado actually touched down nearby. So he was able to sleep through a tornado, but not his mom’s snoring. Needless to say, we will never be getting rooms with a shared wall on family trips!

Share Me! We do a lot of sharing over the holidays when the family is all together at the inlaws. My husband is the youngest of 8, and all his siblings are married and have kids. We find space to sleep all over the house, some outside in the camper, and some of the kids make beds in the greenhouse! Lots of fun!

SHARE ME! I was 7 years older than my younger sister, ao there weren’t too many things that we would have needed to share, but chewing gum was our big bone of contention. I refused to share and she used to sneak into my room and eat every piece which infuriated me. Funny what stands out after 20’years!
