Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! This is a “you had to be there…” On road trips, my brother and I always had to share a bed in the hotels. One night, we were particularly giddy for some reason and were having the hardest time being still and going to sleep. It was pitch black in the room, and our parents were in the other bed half asleep. My brother and I had been still for quite some time but still wide awake. Out of nowhere in a normal speaking voice, which of course sounded so loud at that point, said, “Oogah.” He and I just lost it, and of course our parents didn’t think it was funny, which made us laugh even harder. Trying to laugh quietly, our bodies made the whole bed shake, making us laugh longer. Great memory. So glad I don’t have to share a bed with him anymore though.

SHARE ME!!! We went grocery shopping when our youngest was approx. 6 mos. old. It was winter in NE. He had the biggest blowout EVER. I ran out of wipes and poo was EVERYWHERE. An employee found me (crying) and gave me a box of wipes and a brand new shirt to wrap him in. (Did I mention everything was covered in poo?)
From then on, I’ve always packed TWO extra outfits.

I teach autistic children how to share, among many other things. And when other kids refuse to share with them in return, I have to teach them: “sometimes friends say ‘no.'” This concept does not go over well, as you might imagine.

My sister and I weren’t always the best at sharing when we were little, but when it came to sandwiches we were great! I would eat the insides and she would eat the bread!

One day my daughter was playing Barbies. She had Ken (in a tux) in one hand, a Barbie in the other, and a pile of Barbies next to her. I came over to play with her and I went to take a Barbie from the pile next to her. She said “no mom, you can’t take of of those, that’s the ‘married’ pile!” So much for sharing Barbies. I guess they we’re all too busy marrying Ken!

SHARE ME!!! I can’t think of a sharing story at the moment – but how about this: if I win, I’m going to “share” the winnings (read: give them) to my little sis who just bought her first house.

Share me! My college roommate’s dad made the best pie. She brought 3 pieces back to school and was gracious enough to share – only she didn’t specify that the last piece was hers. I ate it and she called my mom in tears asking what to do. She was upset over losing that last piece of pie to ma bellah! She forgave me – i think!

SHARE ME! I never had to share a room growing up, so when I went to college and shared a 2×2 dorm room with a stranger, it was an adjustment. So was the time I walked in on her and her boyfriend. Yikes! There are some sights that should not be shared.

A few years ago my husband and I decided to take the plunge and move back to Wisconsin from Arizona (don’t ask why!:)). Since he teaches, and it was mid-school year – he couldn’t move until 6 months after I moved. I did the 30-hour drive twice in those 6 months. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that when I moved we’d only been married for 3 months. That first year of marriage was fun – 3 months together, 6 months apart and 3 months living with his parents! All ended well though!

When my husband and I went to open our joint checking account, we were poor enough that we were bringing nothing but our change jar with us to the credit union office that day.
When the teller asked us if we were newlyweds, my husband said, “Oh, no. We just met in the parking lot. She had a jar of change and I had a dream.” I busted up laughing, but the poor teller wasn’t sure what to make of us for a minute there.

“Share Me” So here’s a recent funny story from our house. Our 3 year old daughter loves to color. She took a bathroom break during one of her coloring sessions and couldn’t find her crayon when she was done. We figured her little sister had hidden it somewhere, so she just grabbed another crayon and kept on coloring. Later in the afternoon she used the bathroom again. I was about ready to fall on the floor in tears of laughter when we realized that the crayon that had been missing was in her panties…right between her cheeks. She had gone the entire afternoon without realizing she had a crayon in between her bunners! 3 year olds are great!

I had to share a hotel room with my supervisor for two weeks when I was a dance camp counselor. She claimed the bed in the private room and I had to take the pull out couch. It was the worst bed I have ever slept on. I woke up with bruises on my legs from the springs!

SHARE ME! When I first started my job, I shared a cubicle wall with a lady whose job was quality control on recorded spanish interviews, which she did out loud. Also, she didn’t hit “stop” before rewinding…she held down the rewind button. It’s a good thing she was so sweet…

i work with a bunch of guys – i’m the only woman there. my harrowing, sharing moment happens almost everyday, with the women’s restroom. it didn’t take me long to start suspecting that i was not the only one frequenting the women’s room throughout the day – even though i was often the ONLY woman in the building, including clients. my suspicions were confirmed when i bumped into one of my male coworkers on his way out of the handicapped stall, as i was walking into the smaller stall. (the handicapped stall is basically it’s own little private room with a door.) i got so mad, and he was just like, “hey we all use this bathroom for our morning business, what’s the big deal?”

SHARE ME! Growing up, I didn’t share well at all with my younger brother. My husband and I watched home movies just last night that portray some of my embarrassing selfishness. The good news is that I am now much better about sharing my belongings… most of the time.

Harrowing or funny? You decide. When I was barely 20 I went camping with friends. Two of the guys and I decided to canoe out across the lake. They had never canoed before and despite my protests, they rowed. I sat in the middle. After a while it was clear that we couldn’t get anywhere, so at 50 feet from shore, they decided to stand up and switch places. You know what happened next. Me and my shoes dumped into the water…into layers of soft icky greenish muck. I sort of half crawled, half swam stirring up this muck. The boys righted the canoe which was full of water and pulled it to shore across the muck. I stood in the canoe and made them pull me too… because I was mad. My BFF stood on shore laughing at me and I never found my shoes.

Share Me….. My younger sister and I had to share a room growing up, much to my displeasure at the time. However, now I look back on it with sweet memories. She would often be afraid in the dark and I would sing her to sleep. And it must have not been all that bad since we are best friends today!

Share me! (Please?) When I was growing up, there were four of us (my parents, plus my younger sister and myself, obviously) and we had to share one bathroom. During the school year, we’d actually have a schedule set up so that each of us had enough time in the mornings to shower, etc, before heading off to work and school. If one person went over their allotted time or woke up late, disaster would ensue.
