Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

The first time my boyfriend and I went away for a weekend together (thereby sharing a hotel room), we got rained on…IN the hotel room. There was some kind of ridiculous leak in the room above us and there is no way to describe the leak than to say the it was literally like it was raining from the entire ceiling of the hotel room. The good news? We moved rooms. The better news? That was 4 years ago and we’re still together!

Last summer both my mom and I taught at a university in South Korea. To save lots of money, we ended up staying in a dorm room together!

There were three nursing moms in one of the job related classes and another in a different classroom. One problem: there was only one nursing room. While we tried to deconflict times as much as possible we Tried to pump while we were on classroom breaks. One day there were three of us pumping at the same time in one room assembly style. The school gave us a private room and installed shower curtains after that.

Share me! I’m the middle child and I realized early on that if I keep a messy room, no one would want to share a room with me (we had enough rooms for each of us but my parents didn’t want us to get “spoiled”). I guess I still have that mentality because I have the messiest studio ever. I just work better like that. When my husband and I were going to combine my studio and his office so we’d have a room to set up a nursery in, he lasted about a week in there before giving up.

I’m currently in the final 2 weeks of my first semester of grad school which means presentations, webinars and final portfolios at every turn but the most unfortunate part is that there is a cold being shared around the program. I’m currently in the trenches of it so I’m hoping it’ll be over soon. I guess that’s what happens when you stop getting enough sleep and start working round the clock to meet deadlines!

On our honeymoon we were looking into a snorkeling tour and the company was showing us what’s included in our package. They held up two pairs of goggles, snorkels and fins and one life vest. We asked where the other was and they told us they only had one adult sized left for the day so we could share. Ummmmm what? Share a life vest?! Needless to say we found a different company for our snorkeling adventure.

I recently returned from a mission trip to Peru, it was absolutely heartwarming to see how happy the children where with so little. During recess they played with old car tires and had so much fun. No fancy electronics for them. Since returning home, it’s much easier to deal with our unfinished kitchen and work in progress house.

I was an only child so I didn’t grow up sharing space and stuff with siblings. I went to college SO excited for the sharing a room experience, only for my first roomate to constantly walk around naked and ask me how her butt looked. ???!!! Good thing we were able to switch roomates at Christmas!

A few years ago, I cabin-sat for a backcountry ranger in Olympic National Park. My first day was perfect. The setting was beautiful, the cabin was gorgeous, and I soaked up the delicious feeling of being miles away from everyone and everything.
That night, I turned off my headlamp and curled up in bed, ready for the best sleep of my life.
The moment I closed my eyes, though, I knew something wasn’t right. It was quiet, so quiet, but then, I heard what sounded like a small dog thumping down the stairs. I tried to convince myself it was nothing. Just my imagination playing tricks on me, right?
My pep talk ended when the thumping turned to scratching. By the time I realized that the scratching was getting closer, I was in full-on panic mode. I reached for my headlamp, determined to put my mind at rest.
But, it wasn’t just my imagination. There, inches from my face, leering over the stairway and onto my small, defenseless cot, was a beady-eyed rat the size of a beefy pomeranian.
The rat and I spent hours in a standoff. Every time I closed my eyes, he would inch closer like a vulture, waiting for me to lower my guard. Apparently, he wasn’t too keen on sharing his space.
I didn’t get much sleep that night. And I never cabin-sat again. :)

Share Me!!! I think the best sharing moment happened with my two special needs students. One girl is non-verbal, and another student shared with her and said, “I’ll be her guardian angel since she can’t talk.” Love!

Growing up there were five of us that shared a bathroom. Four girls, one boy. That dear brother of mine would take the longest showers ever leaving the girls to gather at the door and yell at him each and every morning. I think our parents must have found it entertaining because they rarely talked to him about it. Once he was finally out the four girls would share the bathroom and get ready in mere minutes because that dear brother would then be laying on the car horn threatening to leave us without a ride to school. Somehow we still love him but we do refuse to share anything with him now.

SHARE ME! I think the biggest story of sharing is telling my little girl that we are sharing Daddy with the army so that we can all live safe. It is a perfect example of how sharing is not always fun but it makes everything better!

SHARE ME!! My little sister and I used to share a bed when we were little. She broke her arm once and liked to flail in her sleep. The bedroom sharing ended promptly when she broke my nose one night after flailing in her sleep and I then rolled over and hit her in the head with her own broken arm.

Share Me! I’m renting a duplex and so of course we share a wall with our neighbor. The master bedrooms/bathrooms touch and unfortunately, I can hear my neighbor snoring and talking in his sleep every night. The worst nights are when he talks on the phone in his bathtub, which really makes me want to cry “over-share!” Thankfully, running a fan at night helps to drown out the one-sided conversation.
