Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME! My master bath is also the main floor bath! Not always a happy hostess! The door configuration is complex! There are 4 doors in my not so big bathroom-but two are louvered-and guests don’t always realize that natural bathroom sounds are clearly heard if the regular doors remain open!!

Share me!! How about having two little girls who argue about everything… I think my favorite argument happened when my 4 year old was going potty while my 2 year old was in there with her… My 2 year old ran away with the toilet paper and announced she wasn’t sharing with her sissy anymore… And I had to chase her down to get the toilet paper back for her sister who was now bawling on the toilet because my youngest wouldn’t share… -_- kids..

SHARE ME! I shared my apartment in Russia for two weeks when my landlady and two children showed up at my door one day. Oh.. And they didn’t speak any English and my Russian was poor. She would try to feed every time I walked in the door.

We have a 4 year old boy and 5 month old girl-we’re working on getting him to share, as we know it won’t be long before she wants to do more than just look at his toys! It doesn’t help that they share a room!

SHARE ME! I shared my college townhouse with 3 of my best friends, and we used to share clothes all of the time. When I graduated I felt like my wardrobe was cut by 75%!

share me! This isn’t my sharing story but my husband’s. He shared a room with a fellow grad student while attending a conference. The grad student drank a little too much one night and when he got up for a late night bathroom break, he forgot he was in a hotel room and took the same steps to the bathroom that he does at home and did his business. Well, the next morning my husband saw that his suitcase was all wet … except that it wasn’t even his suitcase, it was my mom’s … there was a lot of laundry done that day!

SHARE ME! My boys share the toilet by making different shapes with their pee! It grosses me out, but my husband just laughs! I guess it’s a boy thing! At least it all makes it into the toilet!!

Share me! I am the youngest of 4 and somehow ended up being the worst at sharing. My husband gets mad at me all the time because I never want to share my food, computer, phone, pillows, etc. with him.

SHARE ME!! my son is a day care baby, so he has been taught to share from day 1. now he is 5 years old. today was his first soccer game of the season. he played last year, but we learned that he was a little young to play at 4, so we are thrilled this season is off to a great start (no hissy fits! no pouting! no forgetting about the soccer game and deciding to play tag with his teammates instead!). last year was very tough. after his first game, he was crying inconsolably because as he said, “those kids won’t share that ball!!” and it occurred to me, how do you reconcile the concept of always sharing with sports? we didn’t know how to explain to him that those other kids aren’t supposed to share the ball, and that’s okay in soccer games. he remained furious for weeks. luckily, he has moved on and he’s playing like a champ now.

My brother and I both wanted this little tin box from a yard sale when we were little. It had random things in it including a skeleton key. We had to share it. Every time one of us had something the other wanted we would Reade for ownership of that key and box. We thought and fought over it. Finally we grew out of the fight and he ended up with it. Until two Christmases ago. He wrapped it up fire me with a picture of us inside the box.

Share me! My teenage boys have to share a room. Sometimes it is the pits but at other times i think it brings them closer. The other good thing is that when the older one goes to college this fall, he will have no problems getting used to a roommate.

I share my office at work everyday! It’s a 9×9 space that has two desks and also serves as our clinic’s lunch room complete with a sink, refrigerator, microwave and espresso machine. I have had to learn to really be great at sharing and time management since the lunch hour turns my office into grand central station! Not good for a natural procrastinator!

I was traveling in Egypt with a friend and we were both sick (comin’ out both ends!) while sharing a tiny train car on a 12-hour overnight trip from Luxor to Cairo… No air conditioning, no medicine, no toilet paper available. It was brutal, but I think that after that we’ll be friends forever!

I will share many, many things, but I WILL NOT share food from the same plate or bowl or a drinking glass with anyone, not even my husband. He still, after years of dealing with the quirk, doesn’t understand how kissing is ok, but drinking from the same glass is absolutely not.

SHARE ME! I hated sharing a bed with my sister growing up. I held on tight to the covers so they wouldn’t be stolen!

SHARE ME! I love sharing, food specifically. My favorite is dining with my mother, we each pick something the other likes, and then split. More tastes! Unfortunately, my fiance is the opposite. I can score a taste, only if I am lucky!

My sister and I had to share a room when we were younger. We did NOT get along. I was tidy and she was messy. She would always take my stuff without asking (which was like the end of the world when I was younger). We would get mad at each other and separate our very small room into “sides” and neither one was allowed to cross over. We used masking tape on the carpet to split it up. Luckily, we’re much better at sharing now, and I’m now teaching her daughter how to share her toys with other kids.

First job out of college – was at a training conference – shared a hotel room with another girl my age – after the first day of training – we went to the hotel room to change from our business suits to casual clothes for going to the mall – I put on jeans and a simple top – she changed from her suit to another business suit with a fresh pair of pantyhose and everything…. I thought that was just weird.

Share Me! Please :) As a kid my sister and I shared a bathroom and the night of my first school dance our a/c went out. Makeup was pointless and i was sweating it off before I could put it on. By the time we were ready to leave the house we were both sporting sweat mustaches and frizzy hair. It was very classy!

Thank you both for having such a fun giveaway and I congratulate the winner who ever she or he might be. Oh… and thanks for your blog posts, I always enjoys the break from work every day to see what new ideas (& mishaps) you have to share :)

OK, so this is depressing and optimistic at the same time, so just warning you.
Almost 28 years ago on April 30th, I was born on my Grandma’s 60th birthday. It was always a cool thing to be able to share with her even though she wasn’t always the warm & fuzzy grandmother. She lost her fight with alzheimer’s 1 week ago. I’m not really sure how NOT to share my birthday with someone. (ugh, I’m getting teary, and I’m not a crier, SORRY!!)
On to the optimistic part!! My sister is due with her first child (a boy) on May 2nd. I’ve been having chats with my future nephew (through her belly) that April 30th is a GREAT day to be born. I know it’s a long shot, but I’d love to share that bond with him. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! (and also plotting to get my sister to eat spicy foods and jump on a trampoline on the 30th, lol)
