Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Imagine sharing a bedroom with not only one sister, BUT TWO! It was a whirlwind of fighting over clothes, makeup, bathroom time, and most of all the land line haha. Oh but what FUN it was. We now live in three different states and love to dish about our various decorating tastes. Thanks young house love.

Share me. My freshman year roommate hated the loudness of me using (hair) mousse. And the loudness of me opening doors. As quiet as I could be she still managed to get a single halfway through the year. Ok, I am a little loud, but my mousse? (ps does anyone use mousse any more, anyway?)

SHARE ME! I used to share a bathroom with my old roommate, who had the longest, most luxurious hair ever. It also led to hair clogs the size of sewer rats in our shower. How’s that for harrowing? ;)

SHARE ME! Believe it or not, my 9-month-old is really into sharing right now. We play a game where she hands me a toy and then I hand it back to her. Super adorable. I’m enjoying it now, since I’m sure it won’t last long .

SHARE ME… When we were little, my brother would come share my room when he was scared at night. He would bring all his blankets and sleep on a couch-ish thing across the room.

when my sons were little they did not want to share anything. On my oldest fourth birthday he was thrilled to get a big boy bike that he did NOT have to share. Youngest son was mad!! He took bday boy’s bike helmet and took a BITE out of the inside of the helmet—-and stuck it up his NOSE!!! His little two year old mind determined if brother wasn’t going to share he wouldn’t get to ride either.
Yes we laughed after we got back for the ER!

I didn’t have to share a bathroom or anything when I was little because I was an only child, BUT I did in college in my dorm obviously. My friends and later on roomates, dropped ice cold water balloons over the stall while I was showering one morning! BRRRR! That was when I realized how lucky I was to be an only child and avoid pranks most of my life :) ha!

I recently purchase my very first home, a condo. The renovations (diy) have been taking much longer than anticipated and my sweet puppy and I have taken up residence in my parents’ guest room. Every morning my mom comes in about 5 am with an urgent question, “What are you doing today? Does your dog need to go to the bathroom? How was work yesterday?, etc” I know it seems funny but as much as I hate 5 am I love my mom more. I think she will miss me when I am gone…I know I will miss her and her 5am question alarm clock :)

SHARE ME! Once upon a time I shared a room with my sister. It had red shag carpeting and pink & white gingham wallpaper. It was the 70’s, and we fought A LOT! Now we love each other! The End.

In college I shared a suite with 7 other girls, w/ 4 girls to one bathroom, 8 girls to one common area. Ironically we all got along (to an extent- we had our battles :) ) and ended up being the best of friends and still are 19 years later! We actually go on an annual trip together. :)
Good Times….

When I went to college back in the ’70s, we didn’t know anything about our roommates until the day we arrived in September. Little did we know that, according to what we were later told, the university matched roommates by height, among other things. The 5’4″ roomie in our 2-room triple was the first to arrive, and she took all the bottom drawers & shelves, thinking she’d be shortest. Then 5’3″ me arrived, followed by our 5’2″ third roommate! It all turned out great that we were similarly sized, because we shared each other’s clothes as though it were one big wardrobe!

In college I lived in a house with 9 other girls – it was a big house :) – but we only had two bathrooms. Which meant that 5 of us had to share a very small bathroom for over two years together. Although there were frustrations and threats of getting timers… it was so worth it. Seven years later, all 9 of these girls are still my best friends :)

SHARE ME! When we were building our current house, I had to share a room in an apartment with my two younger brothers. Funny, the thing I remember hating the most was that it meant bedtime was the same time for all of us.

Share me!! I will always cherish the time my mom and I went on a 2 week long roadtrip…but wow! Sharing a car, bedroom, etc with my mom for all that time got on both of our nerves by the end. Thankfully, our trip ended happily, and we have so many wonderful memories to share!

SHARE ME! On Saturday, I practiced mounting my new road bike….but I did it in the hallway of our apartment building. I ended up falling into the door of a neighbor’s apartment! I have the bruise to prove it – ouch! At least nobody saw me….I think…

One weekend while living abroad in Guatemala my family and I headed to the coast to get away. We had book two rooms at a recommended hotel. When we got there we found the hotel to be a small shack. There were many stories from that weekend but none like the animals. A giant rat walked right around on the top of the walls, freaking the daylights out of everyone has it was as big as a dog. When we reported it to the owner later on, his only comment was “Oh! We have scorpions too!” All I can say was it was an interesting weekend, but just another old adventure for our family.

When I was 17 I went to my first formal dinner at a country club – the Christmas party for the company I worked for (my first “real” job). Next to the prime rib sat some mashed potatoes with a surprisingly small spoon. I heaped my plate full of several helpings (I REALLY liked mashed potatoes) but to my horror upon taking a large bite I soon realized they were not mashed potatoes but horseradish!!! It was so spicy and over-powering I must have made the most horrible face as I contemplated what to do with the awful mush in my mouth! I finally managed to discreetly extricate the stuff into a napkin but let me tell you… I’ve never made that mistake again! It was traumatizing!

SHARE ME! I shared a bedroom with my two younger sisters for six years. We always did crazy stuff to have our “own” space like stringing up blankets to make partitions. So glad to have my own house now, no blanket walls needed!

As a kid, I would go over to my best friend’s house to play video games. I’m embarrassed to say that we got into a few squabbles over sharing the Gameboy. It seems so silly now that we ever argued over it!

While I have plenty of embarrassing stories, I’ll share one more touching today. Last year, I was working in retail throughout the Christmas season. Emotions ran high, everyone seemed stressed and people were being pushy and rude. I could hardly wait to get to the lull in shoppers that comes with each new year.
One day, all of our spirits were lifted with a simple gesture from a young couple. They came to customer service to turn in a bank envelope they had found right outside. Inside was over $800! It was both amazing and heartwarming to see that kind of cash turned in. It was (joyfully!) reunited with its rightful owner and I think everyone involved enjoyed the holidays a little more that year.

We take our pup to the dog park to play a rousing game of fetch at least 3-4 times a week. Since there are often other dogs there that like to join in, our policy is they’re allowed to share and play too as long as they bring the balls back in the end. Not necessarily OUR balls, but if we come w/ two we try to leave w/ two, etc. =) It’s not unusual to have three separate games of fetch going on at once!

My cousin got married during this horrendous downpour so instead of driving to dh’s friend’s house 2 hours away we crashed with my parents in their hotel room. In a double queen room there was my parents, my sister, my husband and myself, and our 1.5 year old. Cozy!

SHARE ME!!! Once, in preschool, my best friend and I both had to use the bathroom badly; I’m talkin peepee dance badly. We tried to come up with a fair way to determine who had the worst, but we kept coming up tied. So, as to avoid disaster, we decided to share the potty. We are now 31. We are still best friends and we credit each other with teaching the other how to share.

SHARE ME! One of the most interesting “sharing moments” I had was when I had to share a bed with my then-fiance’s (and now husband) Grandma. My husband and I were traveling from Minnesota (where we lived) to Missouri (where his family lived) and picking up his Grandma in Iowa. The weather turned bad and we had car trouble so we ended up spending the night in her one bedroom apartment. His Grandma is rather bossy and when she tells you to do something, you do it. She informed me that I would be sleeping in her room, and since there was no other place to sleep I had no choice. Neither my husband or I got more than two hours of sleep. The temperature in her apartment felt like 90 degrees and my husband ended up sleeping on the floor because the couch was about a foot too short for him.

SHARE ME… i love sharing a home with my hubby but one thing i miss about my former female roommates (my big sister, girlfriends, heck… even my mom) is swapping clothes. in college when i had 3 roommates it was like having 4 wardrobes!
