Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

SHARE ME :: Yes, dear children, I did in fact tell you it was important to share. That, however, does not include Mommy’s chocolate! (Fine… I didn’t share the chocolate, but I did share the advice!!)

My sister is 8 years older than I am and we shared a bedroom until she left for college. She was incredibly patient and tolerant! The day after we moved her into her dorm, I boxed up her remaining things and totally redecorated our bedroom. Looking back, that probably should have upset her more than it did.

I will never forget having to share one tiny bathroom with my husband as newlyweds in our old apartment. We are so spoiled now with our 2.5 bath home with his and her vanities in the master bath. Haha

I grew up with two sisters so there was always lots of sharing…bedrooms, bathrooms, clothes, cars, etc. The only funny sharing story that I can think of was of sharing punishments when we were little. One time my sisters both got in trouble & ended up having to write sentences like “I will not do such & such” over & over as their punishment. Being a middle child, I felt left out of course, so I requested to be allowed to write sentences too, and I did!

Growing up I had to share everything with my younger siblings. I thought it was the worst part of being the oldest. My next closest sibling always stole my make-up, hair accessories, clothes, friends etc. Little did I know that at 26 I would end up having her living in my house and her still taking my things and having to share my space!

SHARE ME!! I love to share stories. My dad has always been such a good story teller, so I am following in his foot steps. I love to tell the most random, funny stories from my life. If only you knew my most embarrassing story! Trust me, it’s a good one!

Once I had to share my seat on a train with a Chinese family. Well, technically I didn’t have to share it, but I did because it was hard to stay seated for the 16 hours. That train ride is one of the worst experiences of my life (too many people, too many bodily fluids flowing across the floor), but the family I sat with were the sweetest people I met in all of China. The youngest daughter shared her food with me, and we spoke, in English, about China.

My 2 year anniversary is coming up on the 9th! We’re complete opposites and have an opposing viewpoints on everything. I’m a saver, he’s a spender. I’m trying to go green, he thinks I’m crazy. He’s a fly by the seat of his pants dude….and well I plan like it’s my job. I guess opposites really do attract! He’s the yang to my yin (haha I need some wine from all that cheese!)

Let’s see…sharing…before I got married I lived in a house with 3 other girls and shared a room with my best friend. She was a massage therapist at the time and one night I woke up to find her at the side of my bed massaging my leg!! I freaked out and yelled, “what are you doing?!” She sort of jumped, mumbled something that I couldn’t understand and sleepily walked back to her bed and laid down. In the morning I told her everything that happened and she didn’t remember any of it, but we had a good laugh and still laugh about it to this day!

My younger sister and I shared a queen waterbed when we were growing up for several years (what were my parents thinking?!) and we haaaaaated sharing that bed. We would use our fingernails to draw a line down the middle, going just out of our way so that we would “accidentally” scratch each other. Of course, the other one of us would get as close as we could to the middle and act like we had no idea we were provoking each other. My dad would frequently put a 2×4 down the middle of the bed to separate us. Of course now that we live 2,500 miles away from each other, I’d gladly share a bed with her. :)

Share Me! I went to Ireland in high school with good friend to visit her grandmother. When we asked her about taking a shower, she said that she only had a bathtub. No big deal. She then informed us that it would be very wasteful for us both to fill the tub, so she asked that one of us take a bath and then the other one use the same water afterwards. I think our solution was to take turns bathing every other day. :)

A non-sharing moment sticks out more in my mind. When I was young my brother (2 years older) would always take any of my food he wanted. one day we were eating at a restaurant that had dinner rolls that I particularly loved. In order to keep my brother from eating my roll, I licked the entire thing as soon as I got it. Luckily for me it grossed him out enough that he didn’t steal it.

I can remember having to share the backseat of the car with my older sister and there being many a fight about her coming over to “my” side. My dad yelling “don’t make me stop this car…” This is why I don’t do many car trips with my own family now that I’m grown up.

As a kid, I made my sister (7 years older than me) share everything with me. Not just her clothes… we shared a room and I insisted on pushing our two twin beds together to make one big bed. Later when she was in High school, we had our own rooms but I was so accustomed to sharing by then, that I still made her share her room and bed every night… even when I had my friends spend the night… and even though I had my own room. Looking back, I have no clue why my sister was so nice to me. If I was her, I probably would have kicked my annoying little sister and her friends out, haha!

SHARE ME! Okay nothing major, but I grew up always sharing a room with my sister that had NO CLOSETS. Two teenage girls and no closets makes for one not-very happy sharing situation.

SHARE ME! When we were little, my big sister and I shared presents and toys back and forth in little mailboxes that we made. Except, I was generous (gullible) and shared whatever she wanted with her, while she shared the SAME purple plastic horse (that i was obsessed with) over and over and over again!

SHARE ME! When I was in college, I practically lived off of Luna bars. My then-boyfriend (and now-husband) would stay in my dorm occasionally on the weekends since he lived in Richmond. One morning, he woke me up extra early and asked if he could “have one of these,” holding up my very last Luna bar. I was half awake and loudly grumbled “YOU WANT ONE OF MY BARS?” I’d like to think that if I were more awake I would have gladly given him my last Luna bar (even though they were a pain to find and kind of expensive), but in that moment it was like taking away my precious. We joke about it to this day.

I had one terrible roommate situation, when I was in high school and doing a college program during the summer. She stayed up all night on her computer, had nightmares and made weird sounds when she did go to sleep, and was just generally a terrible person.
OH WAIT. Two experiences. In boarding school, my roommate and sometimes friend lived on the top bunk, and one night I woke up in the middle of the night to hear her making out with the new girl. The new girl who 1) was transgender, which would’ve been fine except that 2) she was Christian and told me I was going to hell for being Jewish. But apparently not for premarital lesbian sex and excessive hard drug use.
I ended up being roommates with that girl too, later in the year, after a stint with another girl who kept a smelly box in the corner.
Wow, California was not a good place for roommates.

Growing up, my mom raised four kids by herself and we barely made ends meet. However, in elementary school I had a friend whose parents neglected her pretty badly. When I told my mom that this girl came to school every day without a lunch, my mom started packing me two lunches every day so I could take one to her. My mom packed that little girl lunch every day for two or three years, even though we didn’t have very much. She’s one of the best role models when it comes to sharing.

SHARE ME! We just bought a house – a fixer upper, to be sure – and one thing after another has gone wrong in it. This weekend, it was the dryer…and of course, I had a full load in the washing machine! Thankfully, our realtor lives just around the corner and graciously shared her dryer with us so I wouldn’t have to sit in some sketch laundromat! (BTW, I’m totally proud of my husband for fixing said dryer today!)

Share Me!!! I was an only child for 10 long years, so as you can imagine I have never been great at sharing, although I’ve gotten better over the years. My husband makes fun of me because I get really possessive over food. I HATE sharing my food. What can I say, I’m a stingy foodie :)

When me and my twin sister were little we had separate beds but shared a bedroom, so when our parents put us to bed and turned the lights out we’d push our beds together because we didn’t want to be apart! Those were the days :] xxxx
