Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

sharing the back area of a van with my sister and a german shepard from IN to FL. lots of girl scout songs, card playing and snuggling. :)

Share Me! My sister and I are only a year and a half apart and growing up we were bitter enemies – we “borrowed” from each other constantly, and I got so fed up with our system of “sharing” that I started putting my initials on all of my clothing to prove the items belonged to me. Even my underwear. Except, she has the exact same initials. Backfire. :) (Oh, and we love each other now!) :)

I shared a lot with my sister growing up (bathroom etc)… which wouldn’t be that bad except that I’m a guy and she’s 6 years younger than me.

SHARE ME…I am an audiologist and am fortunate enough to work for a company that shares the gift of hearing to those who can not hear, young and old. The following link is a baby with a cochlear implant hearing for the first time. Amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTzTt1VnHRM

I have a lower back tattoo, (aka as a “tramp stamp”) from my younger days mistakes, and while squatting down in a patients room one day they asked me what the tattoo was. I was mortified, even if I am an ER nurse!

SHARE ME!!! probably the most adventurous sharing was the room of 6 bunk beds my husband and I shared with random travelers in a Rome hostel for a few nights…saved us money, but was quite the experience :) it’s not often you see a perfect stranger’s morning face and PJ’s. thankfully there were PJ’s :)

SHARE ME! I shared a bathroom with my younger brother growing up and we used to always race to see who could get ready for school the fastest…to the point some nights we’d sleep in our clothes to beat the other!

Argh…..sharing the backseat–of a station wagon, of course, with my two sibs on a cross-country trek for five weeks. I was the oldest at ten, and usually got a window seat b/c of an unfortunate predisposition to motion sickness. We eventually became delirious listening to Dad’s Marty Robbins cassettes repeatedly, but I smile when I think of that trip.

My best friend and I had a room in a suite in college and were sharing a bathroom with our good friends. On occasion we would lock the door from their suite into the bathroom and then forget to unlock it, thus locking our suitemates out of the shared bathroom… we tried to point out the humor of the situation but alas they were less than amused. 5 years later it’s still a point of contention!

I shared a room with my sister for 11 years. For a while we drew a line down the middle of the room to make sure it was clear who’s side was whose and to show our mom which side was cleaner at any given time.

SHARE ME! My husband and I took our sons to a park that had a water foundation. To be fair I gave 3 pennies each to my 5-year-old and 7-year-old sons. I didn’t realize that I had accidentally given 4 pennies to my 7-year-old. They made wishes before throwing each shiny penny into the foundation. As my 7-year-old starts to voice his fourth wish, my 5-year-old realizes he doesn’t have any more coins and a little frown creeps up on his face. My 7-year-old hands his little brother his last coin before he finishes making his wish and says, “You can have it.” My 5-year-old closes his eyes and says, “I wish all of my brother’s wishes come true.” I am so proud of my boys!

When I was about 5 I had this prized tree fort in my backyard. My best friend (and next door neighbor) and I would spend hours playing in it. We had amassed a large collection of “things” in it. Toys, trinkets, all kinds of stuff that we collected. We would arrange our things in a specific way, organizing and sorting – which probably wasn’t quite understandable to most adults – but we loved it.
Then after our first day of kindergarden we rushed home to the backyard to continue “playing” in our fort – only to find that my little 3 year old brother had taken every possible thing he could find inside the tree fort and moved it to a giant pile on our back deck. we were upset and frustrated and none of the adults understood so we began putting everything back in it’s orderly place.
Then after the next day of school, when it happened again, I vowed to never share a single thing with my brother again. He wonders why 20 some years later I still don’t like to lend him things :)

Share Me! I’ve been working a lot with my 3 yr old on sharing. I told him if he wasn’t nice and share with his friends they wouldn’t want to play with him. He looked right at me and said, well I guess that’s my choice! Sassy at three…check!

I was the oldest kid and sharing was not in my vocabulary. So, when my two sisters and I shared a bedroom I drew a duct tape line on the floor to make sure there was a line of “no crossing”. It was interesting to see the two sides of the room haha contrasting SUPER clean to BEYOND walkable.

My sister and I used to share a bedroom growing up. Which was great when we were young but by the time she hit middle school/high school the space was feeling small. Thankfully we moved and got our own bedrooms. Saved my parents years of fighting.

Share me! My little sister is 12 years younger than me and I shared a room with her till I was 21. When I was in college she would wake up in the middle of the night crying and half asleep and need help orienting herself and walking to the bathroom for a 1 am pee. haha Funny how the things you hate at the time are the memories you treasure later.

SHARE ME! For my first big business trip at my old company, I was told that I would be sharing a hotel room with a co-worker…which I understand is maybe not all that uncommon these days but to put in place, we were the only 2 people asked to share a room & every other person traveling for this expo (at least 30 people total) had their own room! Luckily for me, the gal was a close friend or otherwise it could have been awkward!

I have this habit that whenever I am eating something especially delicious (usually in the form of a baked good) I save the last bite or 2 for my husband. I never knew he liked that ritual – who wouldn’t? – until I didn’t do it a few times and he was like “What? No sugar my way anymore?”
My best, Lynn
