Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Share Me!!! I grew up in a two bathroom house and had to share a bathroom with my brother that was five years older and much cooler than I. We would constantly fight because he was nasty, leaving toothpaste all over the sink and mirror, would also always leave the toilet seat up. Took the longest showers, leaving no hot water, so I would always get up extra early to insure that I would have hot water!

My 5 and 6 year olds were playing “jinx”. They told each other what to say at the same time and then said “jinx!” at the same time after that. They would do it and then have giggling fits together. So I told them, that’s not how it works, after being jinxed, you can’t talk until someone says your name. My 6 year old says something about how she wants to play it her way and then my 5 year old says to me,
“You’re not the boss… God is.”
At least he didn’t say, “you’re not the boss of me.” He’d been learning that everything belongs to God at preschool and I guess that God is the “boss” too.

SHARE ME! i share a house with both of my brothers and their families, and another set of friends. it has been surprising awesome :) i think the key is that we each have our own spaces – can go days without seeing them, but nice to know they’re there if i’d need them!

I have 3 brothers and unfortunately that meant that we shared clothes until I hit puberty! All of my yearbook pictures up until middle school show me in my brother’s clothing that clearly doesn’t fit! Now, I have a shopping problem!

I was the youngest of three growing up so instead of all fitting in the car or sleeping in a hotel room I would always just hear “where’s Amber going to go” I really think it’s given me a complex :)

How about the time that I had to learn how to share my bed with my husband? I magically morph to 12 times my normal size when I sleep (aka. I take up the whole bed)… so moving in with Hubs and sharing my precious sleeping space was challenging :)

On a missions trip in Romania we stayed in dorms and not realizing that there were actually students still in the dorms so, unaware of each other I got out of the shower in a joint bathroom and one of the poor Romanian students walked in on me! Lovely way to meet and made brushing teeth together awkward!

SHARE ME!! I’m not sure why, but this was the first story I thought of when I thought about sharing. A few years ago my husband was temporarily based in Germany and I went to visit him. We were headed back to the states and we had separate flights and his left before mine. My flight ended up getting cancelled and I didn’t have any euros or know anyone in Germany or have any way of calling him to let him know that I was stranded in Germany. I was wearing an “ARMY” sweatshirt that sparked a conversation with a sweet older couple and when they heard my story, they shared their international cell phone with me so that I could call home. They also shared dinner with me so that I wouldn’t have to eat alone. They were my angels for the night!! Sorry for the long story, but I just love it :)

Growing up with five sisters, we shared everything – from the bag of panty hose hanging in the pantry (yikes!), to the single hair dryer, to the two bathrooms…we were…ahem…close.

I had to share a double bed with my sister growing up, as well as a room. She is 10 years old than me, and when she was going through her teenage years, boy were days rough. She also hogged the bed, and would stick her bottom way over on my side. She still does it today if we have to share a bed on vacation!

SHARE ME – i hated sharing with my brother. he was 5 years younger. but as we grew up we grew closer. 2 years ago we got married a week apart to allow for all our family to be there for both weddings. knowing people could not come out twice in 1 year. we shared a lot to do that!

Since it’s close to Easter, I’d thought I share one relating to Easter. I was about 9 when I came to the US. My aunt who had been here for years was setting up Easter egg hunt for us. I asked her what it was and she told me a store of Easter bunny hiding the eggs for us to hunt. I was amazed and exclaimed “I guess American bunnies are smarter than Vietnamese bunnies!”

Share Me!….the last time we shared a hotel room with my Brother-in-law and his wife I had a tickle in my throat that caused me to cough all night long (no matter how hard I tried to stop and how many honey packets I consumed) and I’m sure none of us got a good night’s sleep.

SHARE ME! I have a younger sister, and once she was in middle school (I’m 4 years older), I decided I would share my clothes with her. She loved to borrow everything- EVERYTHING. When I found that she thought it ok to also borrow my underwear and bathing suits, we had to put some rules in place. I kind of dry heave just thinking about it.

Share me! Thanks for sharing :)! Your ‘hotel room’ suggestion instantly reminded me of my hubby and I (and this was while we were still dating) sharing a hotel room with my best friend from high school (though we were all just past college at this point) and we all shared one king bed with me in the middle for one night. AWKWARD!!!! I don’t know what we were thinking! I still cringe looking back on it!

When I was thirteen I slept in a pop-up camper in a backyard with my brother and three step-siblings. They were all younger than me and it was crazy!

Share me! Every birthday growing up, my parents would pack a bag full of my favorite candies for a present. Of course I wouldn’t share with my “addicted to Reeses” younger brother, they were my present! I even went as far as to hide them in my bedroom so he couldn’t get to them. Needless to say, it wasn’t enough…he found my stash and secretly ate the majority of the Reeses in the bag (there were probably 5 left in the bag…clever). Whether I shared with him or not, I am pretty sure the same thing would’ve happened anyway. Even at the age of 23, he still gorges himself to the point of sickness on those things!
Sarah says
SHARE ME – I shared a room with my twin sister growing up. We went through a phase in which we did not get along, so I switched rooms and she shared with my little sister and I shared with my younger brother and fell asleep to Blue’s Clues as a 3rd grader for an entire year until my ego was no longer big enough to stand it and I switched back. Steve and his chair still haunt me to this day.

SHARE ME! My sister and I didn’t share well as kids. When we went on road trips to grandmas (over 1,000 miles in a van with the dog), we would actually draw a line down the middle of the van with masking tape. We divided every snack exactly down the middle. There was no sharing.
Now, living over 9,000 miles away, I wish desperately that I could share space with her. :)

My son’s version of sharing with his little sister is to give her the worst toys in the bin. Think Mr. Potato Head’s butt or a random piece of a plastic toy.
