Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

Share me!! I was in Vegas for a work conference and my boss got drunk and made inappropriate gestures to one of our vendors. Sigh.

My siblings and I had to share a room growing up. We didn’t have to actually sleep in the same room, but we had to play in the same room. We learned early on to put our own toys away!

Hmm, we had most of my husband’s family stay at our house this past summer – all fourteen of them! (Our house was just barely big enough to squish them all in, but the speed at which we went through dishes and milk were the craziest part for me.)

My sharing story is about sharing the laughter. When my now 13 year old daughter was 2, an older woman stopped by our cart in the grocery store to compliment us on her good behavior. My daughter proceeded to stick her fingers in her ears, her tounge out, and then blew the woman a raspberry. I was horrified!! The look on my husband’s face was priceless, but I didn’t want to offend the women or show my daughter her actions were OK. But then the lady patted me on the back and whispered in my ear, “Its ok, hun. Take a step back and laugh. I know I plan on it when I hit the next isle!”

My younger sister always enjoyed styling my hair when I was in high school. The last time she ever did, she managed to get a roller brush stuck on the top of my head-and by stuck in mean that thing wasn’t moving. Needless to say she hid for some time because I was quite angry. Fearing the brush would have to be cut from hair I insisted on trying to get it out manually, we did succeed but I had to live with fluff on the top of my head–somehow that seemed better than crew cut.

I come from a very conservative Midwestern family, but sometimes my parents do surprising things. One memory I’ve been chuckling about for the past few months–driving to church on Christmas Eve, we crammed both my parents, my husband, my sister, and I in my parents’ car. We had about 30 minutes, and every song that came on the radio was just horrible. As we pulled up to the church, Free Bird came on. My dad made us wait in the car for the guitar solo. He blasted it with the car windows down as other families made their way into service. Nothing like a little fun with the parents.

SHARE ME! For awhile growing up I had to share a bathroom with my older brother. It always baffled me that he took longer in the bathroom than I ever did – maybe that’s why I hog the bathroom from my husband now! :-)

SHARE ME!!!! I am the youngest of three girls and we all shared a bedroom while living with my mom and grandma (talk about a lot of estrogen!!) We hated sharing a room growing up but looking back, i wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!! ( and all five of us shared a tiny bathroom too, whoa!!)

I was once driving through a blizzard with my sister when my driver-side windshield wiper fell off. So, I had to share the driving duties… while driving through a foot of snow on the freeway! She took the steering; I took the gas. But look, we survived!

My life is full of awkward moments. How about the time that I was walking across the stage as a senior in high school to receive an award but didn’t know that there was a podium box hiding in the shadows behind the seniors already standing in a line? I tripped over it and fell right on my face. If that wasn’t enough, I stood up to take a bow (and try to laugh it off, you know. .. ) but when I leaned over for my bow, I realized that my skirt was ripped RIGHT up the back. Like, the whole way.
Oh, that was a good one!

SHARE ME! Shared a car with my sister through the high school years – she was incredibly messy!! Will never forget her spilling a bowl of Top Ramen – broth and all – on the floor – 3 days later the noodles still rested where they fell… YUCK! Maybe that’s why I’m a clean freak now :)

Share me! Really hoping I win, they have the best stuff!
I’m not a very good share-er, but I am generous–meaning, I am happy to share if you ask and happy to help you out, but if you borrow without telling me, there’s going to be trouble! I’ve gotten better, but this was a huge problem in high school when my sister would take my clothes. I’d say yes, if you asked, but you didn’t and now I’m mad haha

How about when I had three roommates with whom I shared a kitchen space? There may have been a time when their dirty dishes ended up in plastic bags in their respective owner’s room after I tired of washing them month after month, semester after semester. I just enjoy a clean and smell free kitchen, maybe not so much sharing part.

SHARE ME. As a biology PhD student, I did a 10 week “rotation” in a lab during my first year. I had to share a tiny desk and 1 computer w/ another rotation student, which was an impossible work space, but we became good friends because of it. Not an exciting story, but that is what came to mind

At four years old, an emergency appendectomy left me “sharing a room” with 10-15 men in a military hospital ward for a week. AND my mother could not stay the night with me! YIKES!
Actually, everything turned out fine…I was just scared.

Not quite sure if this is a sharing story, but I’m 48 years old and still share a single bathroom. Except for living with my parents and in the dorm in college, I’ve always lived in one bathroom accommodations. We’re getting ready to move, and I promise you that at the top of the “must have” list you will find “more than one bathroom”!

I think the funniest sharing happens when you get married. You have to learn really quick how to share with someone who is always around and come back daily. Oh the things newlyweds have to go through. ;) Well worth it.

My dad just told me a funny story. His best friend of 40 years got a tattoo on his arm to honor his favorite make of motorcycles some years ago. Unfortunately, the tattoo artist was unfamiliar with this particular hobby and accidently tattooed the words “Harvey Davidson”. He now has that tattooed for all to see! Hilarious!!!!
