Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

I shared a room while on a college internship in Houston. One day my roommate emailed me to report that a mouse had run under my bed while I was still asleep that morning. After work, I was washing my face, and a mouse-sized COCKROACH fell from the ceiling into the sink! She had been too sleepy to understand what she saw when she SHARED the details with me by email! Ew! I hated the cockroaches in Houston.

SHARE ME… We did not have a lot of money or space growing up so I *shared* my mom’s bedroom rather than rooming up with my sis. I made a bedroom out of her walk in closet. I was the coolest kid around. Thanks Mom for forfeiting your closet to me. :)

Sharing a bed with two boston terriers.
i’m not a dog in the bed kind of person, i was watching my sister’s dogs for her while she was away with her hubster. The dog kids are terrified of thunderstorms and lucky me we had one. in the middle of the night i was awoken to the little babes jumping into bed (one landing on my back) and attempting to seek shelter underneath me for the night.

SHARE ME! I had someone ask if I’d share a hotel room w/ them since the other rooms in the hotel were booked. Ah, no…but thanks for the question. I have enough trouble getting a good night’s sleep in a hotel than having to deal with sharing a room w/ someone else. No, thank you.

I tend to be an over-sharer… does that count? I’m sure I embarrassed my parents a time or two, as a kid, when I over-shared family info in public!

SHARE ME! I teach pre-k and have tons of amazing stories, but just last week we had a tasting party and tried almonds. 5 minutes into snack time I look over and see that one little guy is sucking the salt off of his almond. The I watch him take the dripping treat out of his mouth and put it on the napkin of the kid next to him, who proptly tosses that bad boy into his mouth and chomps it down. Of course my jaw drops, but before I could say anything, boy 1 says “what? we’re SHARING!”
love my job.

This isn’t exactly a sharing story, but I think it’s a somewhat funny one: when my sister and I shared a room growing up, I used to sing while pretending to be asleep and then pretend to have no recollection of it in the morning. Years later I told her I faked it, but she for some reason (to this day!) refuses to believe that I faked it.

I had surgery to remove a tumor (benign) when I was 20 weeks pregnant and had to share a recovery room with a lady who had 20 ft of her colon removed (something like that). She was so high maintenance and couldn’t wait to go home!

I think the most interesting times have been when I started ‘sharing’ my house with my hubby dear :D. He moved into my place and had to live by my rules. :P But at the same time I was constantly trying to figure how to make him as comfortable as possible. I look back and wonder what the fuss was about, but I still miss those days.

So, this is a story about how I learned to share my sister’s birthday. Which is not my birthday. When I was 8 and she was turning eleven, I couldn’t handle that she was receiving gifts. On her birthday. I was so upset that I practically hyperventilated and my dad had to shake me to calm down. The look of awe and exasperation on my dad’s face opened a pocket in my brain – I think that was the day my id learned to take turns, or share space, with my ego and superego. The next year my appendix ruptured on her birthday, so, I still had some work to do.

My family is the most wonderful thing in my life! I love them all so much, and one of our favorite things to do with them is travel!! We love visting and discovering the beauties of the Earth that God created for us! It draws us closer together as a family, and we only become greater friends with eachother! :)

I went on a lunch date with my slightly kooky grandmother when I was a kid. I offered her a bite of my food and she liked it more than her own. She ended up eating most of my lunch while I sat sadly watching it disappear. :)

Share Me!!!!! The memory I still hold on to from 30 plus years ago, back in my teen years, is drving to Washington D.C. from our home in Nebraska. We owned the newest model of Chevy station wagon, and our family of 9 kids and mom and dad were all packed in. I, being the oldest girl, 2nd in the line of kids, always had a preferred spot to sit, while some of the younger ones surely wouldn’t remember it that way. Sharing was something we always had to do and I still love and speak to all of them today.

My absolute favorite sharing experience is Saturday mornings when I have to “share” my bed. The queen size bed that seems so big during the night suddenly becomes tiny when our 3 kids (ages 12, 3, 1), our 65 lb dog, and our beloved kitty all smash in there to snuggle, tickle, pile on top of each other, and just giggle for an hour before we finally get up. I hope my kids get to carry on this sharing experience when they have their own families. :)

And sadly one of my sharing dramas was with a friend. I have no problem sharing food, but um, when I buy an expensive special treat and offer you a bite and then I stash it in the pantry for later – that doesn’t give you free license to go and eat almost all of it with out asking later… Yeah, that was an awkward conversation…

The setting: gorgeous field of wild grasses and flowers gently swaying under a blazing blue Montana sky
The cast: nearly four-year-old and not quite two-year-old sisters (my daughters) attired in timeless pastel sundresses
The point: momma had rented a big daddy zoom lens (70-200 mm 2.8 Canon L) and wanted some candid, loving portraits of her adorable daughters. The youngest was not happy that the grass was as tall as her OR that mommy was so dang far away with the big daddy zoom. Candid shots all involved a screaming toddler with a blissful preschoer skipping around. Exasperated momma-tog directed big sis to give little sis a hug and kiss-the perfect candid, sweet moment engineered! Exuberant eldest tackled younger with such force, the both went to the ground, with baby sis screaming “no thank you hug! No thank you kiss! No thank you Bailey!” the whole way down. Way to much love sharing that day.

My 3 year old and 1 year old share a bedroom. They usually go straight to sleep at night, but recently they’ve started interacting more. Now on the monitor at night I get to listen to the 3 year old reading to the baby and sharing his books and toys with her by throwing them into her crib. Such sweet sibling interaction.

Share me! My mom had the ingenious idea of allowing my sister and I one can of soda per week growing up, but we had to share it, which resulted in a lot of bargaining between the two of us, but more often than not resulted in us missing that week’s deadline for sugary goodness. Such a smart mama!
