Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

My favorite “sharing” story involves me and my siblings having to share the couch when being punished. Of course, it wasn’t just “sharing” the couch — it was sharing it with our arms wrapped around each other. Imagine an 8- and 10-year-old, mid-fight, sharing the couch and hugging until we apologized to one another. Brilliant, Mom. :)

Sharing was not really a problem for me when I was a child since I was the youngest. But now that I have a daughter of my own and have to share my legos/toys with her it has proved to be a difficult lesson to learn.

When I was in college I shared dorm room with an international student and I guess where she was from, they didn’t feel awkward about displays of affection in front of other people (that or she hated me). On many occasions she would come stumbling into the dorm room with her man of choice and they would, well, ya know…”study abroad”. It was the most awkward experience ever. I would usually just slide in my headphones and rock out to some tunes while trying to keep certain mental images out of my mind.

Here’s a harrowing sharing story. It’s about bullying. When I was 13, my family moved to another state and in our new school, my twin sister and I were set upon by a group of mean girls. These girls were relentless and went out of their way to make our lives miserable. Bullying was a big problem at the school anyway — we were routinely detained by other students who demanded our lunch money — and the despite my mother’s entreaties to the school administration, the school officials were ineffectual and dismissive.
Sister and I talked about this recently because of the movie about bullying that’s recently been released. I told her that the thing that I could identify that helped me the most during the victimization I experienced in middle school was that it wasn’t just me — she was bullied as well. Being bullied by these girls wasn’t as isolating an experience as it could have been because my sister was with me.

I work at a mental hospital. Recently we had a devastating event happen which had us locked down for hours. During our normal schedule, we do a lot of structured groups. However, on this day, I got to share things about myself with my patients which really got them to open up about themselves and helped them to refocus. It definitely made the situation a little easier. Lesson learned: a little sharing goes a long way!

it’s funny that you said that about sharing a hotel room with a boss, because I did have to do that once years ago when I was 30. She was a nice lady and we got along well and all, but it was still awkward in the morning when she walked out of the bathroom to the sight of me pulling up my pantyhose! haha!

I once shared an apartment with my boyfriend and his sister while she looked for somewhere new to live. She so strongly disliked me that if I had even one spoon in the sink full of dishes that were “hers” she’d do all but the spoon, leaving that there for me to do. (to be clear, when I did the dishes, I did them ALL)
SO very glad I don’t have to share a home with her any more and only see her on holidays now.

In vet school, we find ourselves in close quarters with other students quite a bit, but my favorite sharing moment has to be the experience of getting peed on by a dairy cow while in the milking parlor; that created a bond for life between my friend and I. :)

My colleagues and I share food at lunch all the time. At first it was weird but now I don’t even care if someone is eating off my plate or asking for my pizza crust to dip in their pasta. Good thing we are a small department.

Share me. I think a pretty awful story is the one of my first college roommate. She was bad to begin with, with her having morning class(at 630) and my classes didn’t start until 1. She would get up at 530 turn on the lights and her music with no regard for me being asleep. I took to cruising around upstate NY until 6 am and then I’d go to bed.
Other times she’d show up drunk or lose her keys or just be naked. Our room was a 10×20 box, and there were no dividers.
The one that takes the cake is when she(several times, actually) would have a one night stand over, do him while I was in my bed, and then when I woke up in the morning, she would be at class, and he would still be in her bed, watching TV(naked, mind you) and he WOULDN’T LEAVE. For hours.
And we were only roommates for 2 months.

I don’t like sharing our bed with any pets… it seems wrong to me… but I’m totally fine with having a pet on the bed as long as my husband and I aren’t both there together. Is that weird?

SHARE ME! my husband tells everyone that i am one of the most generous people he knows…except when it comes to food. i’m not so sure about the first part, but unfortunately, he’s right about the food part. i don’t like sharing my food with anyone, but ESPECIALLY with my husband—i save the best for last, and he eats faster than i do…you can see where i’m going with this…this has sparked many an argument! (seriously)

We have 2 kids, 18 months apart, my daughter, we call the magpie. She will collect anything, bright, shiny, whatever! My son “shares” things with her, which turn up in her room in small bags or boxes in these amazing crazy collections. Sometimes there is a pile of one thing that has been “shared”, like the box of Lego minifig heads, but sometimes its a random group of puzzle pieces, glow in the dark socks and cars. We should take pics of them!!

Share me……you mentioned sharing a hotel room with your boss….and that really happened to me on a business trip in Zurich…..the worst part was that the bathroom mirrors were made of clear, you read that right, clear glass. I had only started the week before we had to room together. So glad I am not at that job anymore!

SHARE ME a friend sent her twins into time out and was very mad because they had broken an entire set of new crayons. After all the crying was over one twin told her they had broken them all in half so each of them could have every color. (cringe, cry, how sweet)

…I’m a first time mom to an absolutely adorable 10 week old girl. All my friends and family think I got into babywearing so I don’t have to lug her stroller on the subway, but it’s totally because I don’t want to have to share her with anyone else. I’m greedy like that. “Oh darn! She’s just so snug and comfy, I’d let you hold her but I really would hate to move her, you understand, right?!”
It feels good to be honest, just don’t tell, ok? ;)

SHARE ME! Sharing a hotel room with my in-laws unexpectedly on a road trip. A snow storm forced us to have to stop instead of driving straight through. My father-in-law is a smoker so we got a “smoking” room and I couldn’t stand the smell (neither could my husband or mother-in-law). It was a very long night!

Within the first couple of months of starting a new job, my boss and I traveled to China together. Due to a hotel mixup on the last night of our trip we ended up sharing a room (but not a bed thankfully!) Luckily she and I were so exhausted that we didn’t have too many awkward moments but it definitely has given us something to laugh about together!
