Good news – the prize pot is now up to over $500! Even better news (at least for one lucky person) random.org has selected our winner as… Karina (who notes that both teaching and learning to share is hard, just ask her kiddos). Congrats Karina!
As we mentioned last week along with our curator collection, Joss & Main offers small referral fees in the form of store credit to anyone who refers someone who makes a purchase, but we wanted to pay those forward. So instead of accepting the referral fees, we saved all of those credits up in a separate “gift account” so we could dish ‘em out in a big fat giveaway for one lucky reader this week. Oh and Joss & Main kindly donated $100 to get things rolling (and to ensure that we didn’t have nada to give away if no one signed up, haha). But guess what? It earned over $300 worth of referral credits! So if you add in the $100 from Joss & Main, the prize pot is up to over $400 for one lucky winner to spend on whatever they’d like!
- PRIZE: Ownership of the special Joss & Main referral account that we’ve set up, which has an account credit of $430!
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHARE ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … a funny / touching / harrowing sharing story. Maybe about the time you had to share a hotel room with your boss on a business trip? Or the challenges of teaching your kids to share? Or a memory of when you and your siblings shared a bathroom / car / wardrobe growing up?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 4th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Joss & Main.

and the most harrowing story of sharing in our house is a story that keeps repeating – three out of four children “sharing” the couch to watch TV. They each have a “square” but let me tell you that if so much as the tip of a toenail crosses the border into the other child’s cushion, it’s as if the Berlin Wall has been breached. We’ve considered construction cages around each cushion to keep the prisoners in check…..and if they are so unable to share, they are forced into solitary confinement – the green armchair across the room!

I shared a room with my brother when he was first born (we are 6 years apart) until he was about 3. My parents finally had to build an addition on because I wasn’t sleeping at all, turns out my baby brother snores… amazingly loud!

I’d say that a key to my marriage is that we do /not/ share a bathroom! We each have our own, mine on a different floor of the house (and my closet, too), and really works! We share most everything else, but we love our separate spaces. :)

SHARE ME….sharing one bathroom with 6 family members…not fun.

This is more “over-sharing” than sharing, but once at a baby shower, while at the table with at least 4 pregnant woman, I began to discuss a recent article I’d read about how its perfectly fine for women to drink while pregnant…not the right crowd for this argument…

Now that I have an almost 2 year old daughter, I feel like my entire life is sharing. “Mommy’s shirt”, “Mommy’s chocolate milk”…”I have?!”
I love every minute of it!

We went on a cruise with all of my family for my parents 40th anniversary with a 7 month old in tow. He did not want to sleep in the night, only in the day so I got to walk with him on the jogging track in a baby carrier at 3 in the morning and spend most of the daytime in the small cabin. Not the ideal vacation…

My funniest sharing story is my first office in my job I have now was with 2 other people AND served as the break room! One little room with 3 adults and a revolving door of people coming in to eat, heat up things in the microwave, etc! It was hectic!

Share me! Growing up my sister and I could not get along living in the same room. Being the eldest, she banished me to our creepy basement, from which I will always an irrational fear of spiders. Thankfully we are good friends now!

My first room-sharing experience was when I first went off to college. My roommates were horrible and I quickly moved out on my own. Maybe I’m not a good sharer?

SHARE ME!! We had friends move in with my parents while in between vacating their old apt and moving into a new house. It was a period of about 3 months and my brother and I had to share a room…and we werent young where it would be cute either! haha

SHARE ME! Growing up I shared I a bathroom with my sister, but that was nothing compared to having to share a dorm bathroom with the whole floor in college. Let’s just say it is amazing how an all girls bathroom can get so disgusting.

SHARE ME! When my husband and I got together, I shared my two cats with him… and one of the cats might like him more than me now!

Share me! Growing up in a 5 bedroom, 1 bathroom house with 8 siblings, there wasn’t much that didn’t get shared but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

SHARE ME! I share a birthday with my twin brother. He is 3 minutes earlier and was always quick to remind me when the clock ticked 3:13pm every year. Gotta love sharers. ;)

Share Me! I remember on long car rides with my older brother and little sister we’d always call out cars that we love and say “that’s my car” between my brother and I, it always turned into an argument about who “called it” first. When it came to my little sister, it never turned to that. Seeing as the car she would always want…was a wood panel station wagon!! She can keep that one!

A few summers back, my boyfriend and I were just finishing building our garden beds and planting all the goodies. He lives in a townhouse so the deck meets the neighbor’s and they were out with their then 3 year old. My boyfriend took a drink out of a tall glass of Gatorade and then set it down and I grabbed it to take a drink. Truly disturbed by this, the little boy next door declared, “That’s Jason’s!” I told him it was ok because Jay liked to share with me but I got a concerned look that said he knew better. Since then, any time my boyfriend shares anything with me, he quotes our cute little neighbor.

I come from a big family and always had lots of friends so I’m sure there is/was a plethora of TMI sharing going on, but I guess the sharing I’ll share now is that I get to share a lot of ‘me’ time with my awesome 7 children. I still get my time, but by necessity, I cannot be so selfish and instantly gratified by getting my time at the drop of a hat. Oh, and I get to share my husband with all those great kids, b/c they need their awesome dad.

SHARE ME! I shared a room with my older sister, we used to play a game when we had to clean. One person would leave the room and when they came back in, they had to guess what that had put away. It made the cleaning process a little easier :)

Share me. Once I had to share a hotel room with a coworker that I had never met, not so bad right? Well once I arrived I discovered there was only 1 bed. The co worker was already asleep when I got there so I had to climb into bed with a complete stranger. Very ackward.

“SHARE ME” hummm right now I’m share my home with two family members that were lucky to find jobs in the Richmond metro area. On the weekends they go home to their wives and kids. I lovingly call them house husbands. (None thing like the sister wives….is that what they call it?)

“SHARE ME” I shared a room with 5 of the sloppiest girls in the world in our sorority house in college. The room had an adjoining bathroom with a room with 4 girls…so 10 girls sharing 1 tiny bathroom! I still have nightmares.

SHARE ME. When I taught first grade, my students decorated their own cookies to eat at a Valentine’s Day party. One quiet boy noticed that I didn’t have a cookie. He looked at me and then looked down at his own cookie and asked, “Do you want a bite?”
It melted my heart (even though I did not accept), probably because I am not very good at sharing my own desserts.

My husband and I were traveling to visit my family and when we checked in our hotel room we realized that there was a large hole in the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom area (yes, it was intentionally built that way and no, there were no blinds/curtains). When we asked to move rooms and expained that we didn’t really care to see into or be seen when we were in the bathroom the clerk just couldn’t understand why we wouldn’t enjoy that feature. Sorry, that’s just too much sharing.

My freshmen year college roommate and I shared a 10×10 ft room. Her idea of sharing in the space was sharing her artwork (bunnies and only bunnies)on anything that wasn’t university property. They were cute at first, but like bunnies do, I would go to class and come back and they would have multiplied.

SHARE ME!! My sister and I shared a bathroom until we moved out of our parents house – it was the one place we seemed to get along really well for some reason. Although, I did take a little longer in the shower as I got older, but for some reason we never fought too much over the bathroom time!

I’ve always had my own room. When I got to college I roomed with my best friend in a dorm room that just slightly bigger than a broom closet. Many an unspoken fights were had…mostly over the AC temp. Good times. I didn’t think I’d miss sharing a room that small till I went home that summer and was sitting in my room alone. I turned around to tell my roommate something only to realize…we don’t share a room anymore :(

growing up my sister and i shared a bathroom and nothing too crazy happened. however, despite having separate rooms she always seemed to wake me up (since she is 3 years older and started school earlier) to “borrow” my clothes. this usually meant that i wouldn’t see them for awhile. sigh. i love her though!
