This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.
So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?
- PRIZE: Your choice of one of the four pillows shown above (valued at $90 – $95).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the phrase “I HEART ART” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite piece of art currently in your home, whether it’s a piece of fine art made by a professional or fun art made by a preschooler.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSED: Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one this week.
- ELIGIBILITY: The prize ships to anywhere in the US and Canada.
- THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I HEART ART, especially the gorgeous, serene photo collection of scenes from the Greek Isles in our guest bedroom. It’s our dream vacation and the pics motivate me to keep saving for it!

I HEART ART – Without question my favorite piece of art in our house is the painting we have of our wedding reception. It was painted by a “live event painter” as our reception was taking place. It features my husband and me dancing in the middle of the dance floor and all of our friends and family throughout the room. It was our wedding splurge, and worth every penny!

I HEART ART…my favorite is the green buddah painting we purchased at the street bazaar during our honeymoon to Thailand.

I HEART ART! My favorite piece is a giant poster of tipoff at the 2005 NCAA men’s basketball championship…UNC vs. Illinois. I was a senior at Carolina, and in the tournament pep band…I was sitting somewhere between the photogs and the crowd, maybe 10 feet from the court. You can actually see me in the image. It’s beautifully framed and matted, and oh did I mention it’s signed by the top 7 players on the roster? Major love.

I HEART ART! My favorite piece(s) of art in my apartment is a set of 3 black and white pictures of Louisiana State University (the football stadium, the old dorms, and the old bell tower) from the 1930s taken by a famous photographer in Louisiana.

My favorite and most endearing piece of art is one that my husband and I collaborated in high school (sigh, yes we were high school sweeties, don’t rub it in ;-)) Its a re-creation of a masters work. We chose Edward Hoppers Automat. We used pastels, colored pencils and acrylic. Its pretty spot on- for high schoolers- and we still get compliments on it today. An interesting tidbit we often share is that we literally worked on it together side by side, he being right handed, and I being left handed. Awe, puppy love.

I HEART ART…especially my latest art project. An 8X10 ebony frame housing a 3X5 matted Nada Surf cd jacket. Recently my room needed a lil’ overhauling, but nothing a fresh coat of ice cap blue and new linens couldn’t cure. When purging old cd cases and jackets I realized some of the art work was kinda neat. So I popped the ‘preciuos moments’ photo out of an old frame and matt, cut the building and sky line scene to match and WHALLA! A 3-D picture that really accents the room. :) http://cdn.pitchfork.com/media/5696-the-weight-is-a-gift.jpg

I have bought several paintings and other art off etsy.com and love them all equally, from the large painting that looks like you’re lying on the ground looking up at tree branches, to three business card sized landscapes, to the silhouette I had someone cut for me. Love original art!!!

I HEART ART and my favorite piece in my home is a painting made up “extra” paint leftover from original paintings I was making. I didn’t want to throw away any bit of paint, so I started adding my left overs to piece of posterboard. This piece is now one of the favs in my collection!
