If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I usually do weekly meals with some of my girlfriends and the always easy dinner food is WINE! I always have some red wine on hand from trader joe’s and or veggies from my garden!

I keep telling myself that menu planning will make the whole grocery store thing so much better, but I never seem to get to the plan part. Grrrr.
Nothing thrills me more than being invited for dinner. What time should I be there, and what can I bring?
Shannon T. says
I WANT SUPPER! We change things up when we have no dinner ideas by snacking and eating whatever suits us! Doritos for dinner? Done!

I WANT SUPPER!!!
I just bought a house and I finally have my own yard. I have been experimenting with growing my own herbs such as basil and rosemary to add to my meals. I love how fresh and organic it is.
I also have been using software for my Mac called MacGourmet that acts as a digital recipe organizer. You can add your own recipes or copy recipes from the web with pictures and keep them organized all different ways. You can even print them and keep a physical recipe book if you like. I’ve really been having a lot of fun trying out some of the new recipes when I can.

I WANT SUPPER!!!
I get a lot of my recipes online from message boards and blogs. I can’t remember the last time I opened up one of my cookbooks. I hardly ever cook the same thing twice unless it is AWESOME. My boyfriend says that he never knows what kind of meal he is coming home to. :)
Katherine says
I want supper!! I usually have the girls over for dinner once a week to watch our favorite shows (Gossips Girl or Grey’s, depending on the night). I like to try new recipes on these nights, then if they work out I add them to the mix of my everyday dinners.

I will sometimes attempt to make a meal from one of my favorite restaurants. I have to guess at some of the ingredients and amounts since I don’t have their recipes.

Let’s see… I like to mix it up by putting ingredients in our regular dishes that my husband would not usually eat. Then, I let him know that he likes a new food!
I also made him a dentist appt today… Not sure when I am going to let him know about that!

I WANT SUPPER!! Sometimes I have my whole week of dinners all planned out and I shop accordingly, but most of the time I don’t. Sometimes we eat dinner based on what was on sale (well, that’s really ALL of the time) or if I was hungry when I went shopping, whatever looked good (those are the nights we have mac & cheese, my favorite comfort food). But often I make up meals based on what we have in the kitchen and from some of these experiments have come some recipes that we repeat over and over (some we never speak of again). All that said…I look forward to using You’ve Got Supper to help me shop more effectively.

We like to start out with a staple…say ground beef…then try to make a meal from what we have in the cabinet. Ended up making some of the best meatballs ever from stuff found in the cabinet. Ended up calling it “Poor man’s dinner” one of those meals you rustle up the day before pay day.

“I WANT SUPPER” and…..someone to clean the kitchen up afterwards.

This is a great prize! I’m always looking for new recipes to try, yet we’ve been in a rut lately. Sometimes the best meals come from a few ingredients found on hand or picked up at the last minute (let’s hope that works out tonight)… and we do have the occasional breakfast for dinner.
Thanks!

My favorite way to get food on the table: visit the farmers’ market or farmstand to get the ingredients to cook in season. When you are building your meals around what’s in season in your area, you save $ and stress.

I fake a cough and a stuffy nose so that my Mom comes over with a big pot of soup. A little “faking” will feed us for a week! Wondering if she’s caught on yet…

My wife usually handles the cooking (I do the dishes in exchange) but when it’s nice out, we put the grill to use and I’ll spend the better part of an evening testing new spice, rub and sauce combinations. We’ve been lucky so far that most of my experiments have been edible.

I WANT SUPPER!!!
With all the blog giveaways out there, I would love this so much! I love cooking, but with work, moving into and designing our first home, a new pup and an upcoming wedding, who has the time?! I’d love someone to help out with just a couple nights of the week and this sounds perfect!
Also — to spice things up. A friend and her husband have a “Secret Ingredient” night whenever they need a twist (twice a week, every other month, however often it feels right). One spouse picks a totally random ingredient on, say, Monday. The other spouse has two days to create a whole meal based as much or as little on the ingredient as s/he likes, so dinner would be on Wednesday. It can be a new way to try a new food (like star fruit, or Tofuti) or a new way to reinvent a common item (maybe…ketchup). Maybe you could even throw a dinner party using this general idea – happy cooking!

I WANT SUPPER! I’m not the kind of person that needs a big meal at dinnertime, but there are just those days when I need some “comfort food” that’s super easy, so I heat up black beans from a can, microwave one of those 5-minute brown rice bags, and cook two eggs in the microwave. Then I just mix it all together. Instant yummy-ness!

“I WANT SUPPER”!!! I pass out recipe cards to friends, ask them to bring copies of the recipe, and the ready-to-eat-dish to share for a “Recipe Party”. Everyone gets to sample the dish and take home the recipes for the dishes they really liked.

We’re both strict vegetarian (and I have a fickle appetite) so we are always hunting for innovative veggie recipes that are easy and delectable (though unfortunately, not always quick…). However, nothing beats leftover apple pie because both of us are too tired to chop veggies for the evening. Mmm..
