If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

When I’m running low on groceries and don’t have time to get to the store I google what is left at the house… I’ve found some yummy recipes. ‘pork tenderloin + potatoes’ led me to this little gem, http://projects.washingtonpost.com/recipes/2009/09/23/quick-braise-pork-tenderloin-apples-and-potatoes/

Does Cheerios count as “mixing it up?” Technically, you could call it Breakfast for Supper.

I WANT SUPPER!! I try to tackle one new recipe each week to keep from getting stuck into the same old food routine. I’m definitely going to sign up for the emails, this sounds great!

OMG, I can just tell this website is going to be a LIFE SAVER around here! I try to mix things up by trying out a new recipe every week, or when I’m feeling lazy, I mix things up by having my hubby make dinner!

We signed up for a CSA for fall, and already, in the past 2 weeks since it started, I have had 3 vegetables I have never had before: radishes, tatsoi, and turnips. It’s been a culinary adventure!

I find food blogs to mix it up or treat myself to food magazines. My most recent success would be a homemade chicken pot pie my husband nearly inhaled. But, we did have PB &J and chips last night for dinner so….huh.

I WANT SUPPER!!! I like to make things in my crock pot. I stick it in at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day (when I am the most tired) it is already done. I also have a big crock pot so I make enough to have left overs :)

Our go-to easy meal is pasta with goat cheese and whatever else we have around. Usually frozen broccoli and some shrimp or chicken leftover from other meals throughout the week.

I spend a lot of time reading food blogs, looking for one new dish to make per week. That way we don’t get bored, but I don’t get overwhelmed trying to make too many new things every week either.

I want supper!!! Pretty please! My favorite thing to do to change it up is just head to the grocery store and choose some fresh items that look good to me that particular day – cook em up and see what I end up with! If it’s good, I write it down for the future!

To mix up dinner we do dinner parties- potluck style. It’s an excuse to not really cook and to get together with friends and catch up. So, at the end of the night whatever is left over is divvied up, and we all take some of everything home for leftovers :)

I like to spice up supper by going more vegetarian and seeing if my meat-eating boy notices the difference. Although he’s not fooled by all of the imitation meat tofu products, he has complimented the meals. WOOT!

When I’m out of ideas, I resist the urge to order out (again) by going to supercook.com. You list the ingredients in your pantry, and they shoot at you recipes using those ingredients. Great for solving the “What the heck am I going to do with that can of stuff that’s been in my cupboard forever” dilemma.

This is amazing! I hate food shopping too and would love something to make my life easier. I always seem to buy more than I need and things end up going bad and getting thrown away. I hate to be so wasteful, this would really help!

When I want to mix things up for dinner (AKA I’m too lazy to cook), I like to go to Central Market and pick out a meal from the prepared food section. After you’ve made your selections, go home and ‘wah-la!, look at this fantastic meal “I” prepared for dinner tonight!’
